The space he entered this time was completely dark, save for the single light source being a floating soul attached to what seemed like a chain connecting it to the void space below. In this new space, he could feel his emotions slowly bleed back into him.
Gen flew closer to inspect. This soul wasn't quite like anything he'd seen back in the soul realm. This soul was child sized and pulsing. It almost felt... alive.
His eyes widened and flew down to inspect the chain. It was a mix of dull blue and dirty gold but that wasn't the only thing he noticed. The chain was reducing. Fast. He flew back up, stressing about what he should do.
'Am I supposed to let the soul chain disintegrate? But then what if something bad happens instead? Bruh, I'm too old for this, what the hell?'
Unfortunately the exponentially increasing rate of disintegration didn't even give him time to think. The chain now only measured about 5 meters (16 feet). Just as the chain was about to run out, he grabbed both the chain and the soul child.
Almost immediately, he felt the gathered soul power leave him. The chain reformed in an instant as both he and the soul child fell. Just as he was about to hit the void, the soul chain rebounded with an even stronger and more solid connection, vaulting both him and the other soul back up.
'Oh my days, I almost had a heart attack. What is even happening??'
Colour bled into the formerly pearly soul revealing features that were uncannily familiar. The boy had rather pretty features amd pure silver-white hair. He looked just like Gen did as a child, except his hair was blonde and his skin wasn't so pale and sickly.
Gen flew closer to the soul. The closer he got, the smaller he became and the more colour bled into his skin as well. When he finally stopped right in front of the boy, he'd become the same size. The soul chain suddenly branched into two with the free branch instantly attaching itself to him. I that instant, the boy opened his eyes.
His eyes were almost pitch black. He floundering around in panic before suddenly locking eyes with Gen. Tears well up in the strange doppelgangers eyes before it suddenly rushes forward. Gen, panicked as well flies away as well but he can't get far, considering they're both joined by the chain.
'God damn it. Just my luck. I'm being chased by a demon child'
"Why are you chasing me? What are you?!", Gen shouted. The strange child replied back.
"I'm not. Come back. Please. I'm just so scared..."
Against his better judgment, Gen stops.
"Hold on now. Stop right there"
'Even my voice has become childish, the hell... But he really does look like me though'
He couldn't help softening his voice a little at the sight of the tear-stricken face of the demon child? The child looked quite pitiful, wringing his hands in that timid way.
"What's your name?" Gen asked somewhat calmly. Well, with as much calmness as he could muster considering this was such a strange situation.
"M-my name is Gen... you look just like me, are you my brother?" The boy, Gen asked with a little quiver in his voice"
"What the- no, no I'm not your brother. Coincidentally I'm also called Gen too...". Genesis flew closer to the child, Gen. He glanced down at the branch chains with connected them to a single chain root.
"Oh well. Since we're basically connected, I guess there's no harm in taking a yournger brother. The name's Genesis, but you can call me Gen, kid"
Genesis ruffled the boy's head. He felt his vision pulse for a second at the contact and pulled his hand off, intending to investigate. But overjoyed, the child immediately rushed in for a hug causing both their visions to white out and then black out.
Just a second later he immediately felt heaviness around him. Like extreme heaviness. He felt big for some reason.His eyes snapped open to meet blue all around him. Water. He immediately tried to gather his bearings and swim up towards the light but his new body seemed to have already lost its strength before he'd got there. His body slowly sank down.
'Damn, am I really going to die a second time? I just got here, damn it'
Just as his vision was blurring into darkness, he saw a bubble moving towards him rapidly.
'A person in a bubble? What the hell...?'
