Chapter 19 - Goddess of the family

His hand on mine.

His grasp on my waist.

Yes, I belong to him.

Because despite being a contract husband, despite forcing me in this marriage, his intentions were never wrong.

Never touched me with disrespect.

Never looked at me that made my skin crawl with disgust.

Just silent.

Assessing.

Controlling- slightly.

I realised...

He saved me from everyone.

Exposing Rushaan Amogh wasn't and isn't easy. Especially with the influence he holds. And I did that. Without any second thought. Didn't think about media, society or the high-power holding pawns. I could have been...

destroyed.

My mother called me earlier this morning.

Two bodyguards assigned there.

By him.

For safety from Rushaan's fans who felt outrageous, or the people who may harm my family, influenced by Rushaan's power play.

I glanced at Vivaan softly.

Still calm.

Expressionless.

Assessing.

That made me think, why is he always assessing? even with his family?

Family should be a safe haven, right? though not mine but...

What's the issue with him?

He rarely smiles, as if it's a sin for him.

Rushaan's mother seated her daughter in law, Ayesha on the plush royal sofa.

Family and guests, greeting her congratulating her.

But this time, I wasn't teary.

I knew that no matter what happens, my husband was with me.

I sighed and looked at him with a warm smile.

"Breakfast?" I asked him, gently. Softly.

He looked at me.

Sharply.

Calmly.

"No,not now." He responded back.

"Why are we here?" I asked him finally.

"Because it's muh dikhaai."

"But who is coming to see me? no one right? I feel it's a waste of time."

He stayed silent.

His lips twitched silently.

And then media came inside.

Everything just blanked.

Ayesha's muh dikhaai, the traditional celebration. Everything just..replaced now.

"Mr.Malhotra, is it true that you are married now?"

"The famous bachelor tycoon, Vivaan Malhotra, finally tied a knot."

"We have Mrs.Malhotra to see now."

So many flashes, so many questions.

I looked at him peeking behind my eyelashes.

He raised his eyebrow in pride and whispered in my ear "Muh Dikhaai- but- to the entire world."

I was astonished.

How could...

No, not could, because anyways, he DID.

"It's my honour to have you all here. I am really glad that my marital status is so popular among everyone. And yes, I am finally married now. My wife- Mrs.Kruthi Mershania Vivaan Malhotra."

M...Mershania.

My eyes looked at him, shocked, happy, proud.

He joined his identity but didn't take away mine.

"Meri jaan?" He said on the mic, forwarding his hand to me, so I step closer to him.

A smile formed on my lips, I took his hand, stepped forward...

In front of media.

"Mrs.Kruthi, please say something. How did you marry? when did you meet?" The media buzzed with questions.

"W-well." I paused and looked at Vivaan.

He encouraged softly, placing his hand on my lower back.

"Be you" he whispered.

Me.

I hesitated.

Then slowly spoke, lowering my eyes.

"I...feel that what happened was the blessing of Radha Krishna on me, on us."

"Radha Krishna? but Mr.Vivaan Malhotra, in previous interviews you have been seen claiming that you are an atheist." A person from media interrogated.

"I am. I was. I will be." His voice, low, calm... too controlled. "Because I believe in practicality. And as said, the wife is the goddess of the house, the laxmi of the family. I believe that, I have my own Goddess, my wife. So why should I pray when I have been granted my blessing?"

He...what?

B...blessing? I am his blessing?

"I hate you. Such a good actor." I mumbled under my breath, enough for him to hear.

He just, ignored.

Ughh...

"Sometimes you matter more to the people whom you think you don't" He whispered after a pause of silence.

The guards guided the media out of the mansion.

He smirked.

Victory.

Was this real or...

a facade?

I looked around.

No Ayesha, No Rushaan.

Fishy.

I looked at Vivaan.

"W... Where's Ayesha and Rushaan?" I whispered to him.

He looked around.

A nod to himself.

And rushed to his study room.

"Viv..." Before I could say anything, he was out of sight.

I rushed behind him ignoring the curious glances at the wake.

He slammed the door of his study open.

Ayesha.

Rushaan.

His cabinet open.

I walked near him.

Looked the surroundings.

And suddenly he slammed his fist on the table, making the table jump slightly on its own place.

'If you don't want it on your body, get out of here." He glared at Rushaan.

Rushaan held Ayesha's hand to leave with him.

"Not her. I need to talk." Vivaan said in an extreme cold tone.

Rushaan glared at him.

Clenched his jaw and left Ayesha's hand before leaving.

"Viva.."

He raised his hand for me to stay silent.

"Not now."

And took slow steps towards Ayesha.

Dangerous.

"Did you sell my Gurugram property?" He asked in ice cold tone.

Ayesha's eyes lowered.

"Did YOU, sell MY, Gurugram's property?" He asked again in raised voice, barely suppressed rage.

"In a way, y-yes" she whispered, head down, her eyes teary. She was scared.

"Why?"
