Chapter 8 - CHAPTER 8: THE WINGS OF OROS

The sky above the Oros continent didn't just burn; it screamed.

Dozens of heavy Duplict troop-carriers cut through the smoke, their massive anti-gravity thrusters flattening the fiery silhouettes of the titanic trees below. From their hulls, hundreds of brainwashed Duplict shock-troopers began deploying on kinetic drop-lines. They were heavily armed, their eyes glassy under the absolute psychic thrall of the Undead King, Zoran.

Iron-Guard Boros stood like a mountain of silver and diamond, shielding the exhausted, dimming Zeniork child behind his massive 110-meter frame. His newly re-forged platinum chest pulsed with quantum energy, but the sheer numbers descending from the Deship were overwhelming.

"They want the child, Boros," the Zeniork's faint telepathic voice crackled in the titan's mind, its premature form flickering like a dying candle. "My presence... is drawing them all."

"Then they will have to tear through my core first," Boros broadcasted back, raising his branch-like arms as his diamond-tipped fingers locked onto the lead carrier.

Before the Duplict troops could touch the ash-covered ground, a blinding flash of golden energy ripped through the upper atmosphere.

BOOM!

A massive, sleek dreadnought—etched with the ancient, geometric tech-designs of the high Nedom civilization—burst through the cloud layer.

It didn't just fire weapons; it deployed a localized spatial-distortion field that instantly crumpled three Duplict troop-carriers into compressed balls of scrap metal.

It was the Ark-Oros, the flagship of the Nedom defense fleet.

From the underside of the vessel, a colossal silhouette descended at terminal velocity. The entity hit the shattered ground with the force of a meteor, sending a shockwave of kinetic pressure that vaporized the surrounding Duplict drop-troops instantly.

Commander Vaelen had arrived.

Towering at 152 meters, Vaelen was a sight of terrifying majesty. His faceless, bipedal form was draped in a gorgeous, sweeping mantle of woven gold fiber that defied the ash and wind. His limbs, a hyper-advanced matrix of diamond and reinforced platinum, hummed with a deep, resonant bass.

"Secure the perimeter!" Vaelen's telepathic command boomed across the entire sector, absolute and unyielding.

Behind him, heavy Nedom drone-tanks deployed from the flagship, forming an impenetrable wall of hard-light shields around the clearing. Vaelen turned his massive, faceless torso toward Boros, his highly advanced sensory arrays instantly locking onto the small, shifting cloud of transparent stardust floating behind the soldier.

For a fraction of a second, the Commander's internal processors stalled. The unique quantum-frequency emanating from the child was unmistakable. It was the signature of the Zeniork creators—but it was fractured, premature, and dangerously weak.

"An unhatched soul birth..." Vaelen's thoughts echoed, filled with rare, profound awe. "The gods did not leave us entirely empty-handed."

"Commander," Boros stepped forward, his re-forged chest gleaming. "The child healed me. It holds the ancestral archives. But it forced its own awakening to escape the sub-core. It cannot survive an extended bombardment."

Vaelen looked up at the planet-sized hull of the Deship looming in the upper atmosphere. His tactical displays were flashing red across all sectors. The Enigmas' betrayal was complete; the planetary defense grid was collapsing across ninety other continents. Torol was bleeding, and they were fighting a losing war of attrition.

"We are extracting immediately," Vaelen commanded, his branch-like arm gesturing toward the heavy lift-beam descending from the Ark-Oros. "The Enigmas think they have cleared the path for Zoran's victory. They do not know a Zeniork has been born. This child is the only key to fusing the Infinitix element and saving our world."

"Target locked! Protect the asset!" the Duplict commanders roared from the tree lines, launching a desperate volley of anti-matter missiles toward the extraction zone.

Vaelen didn't even turn around. With a casual sweep of his diamond-plated arm, he activated the flagship's localized gravity-warp. The incoming missiles swerved violently in mid-air, looping backward and detonating directly inside the Duplict vanguard lines, wiping out the remaining ground forces in a series of blinding orange explosions.

The lift-beam enveloped Boros, Vaelen, and the fragile Zeniork child. As they were pulled upward into the safety of the armored flagship, the young godling looked back out at the burning continent through the viewport.

The Arch-Genocide was spreading, but for the first time since the Deship arrived, the Guardians of Torol had a strategic piece on the board. They had a god on their side.
