Hello, everyone.
It feels like no time has passed, but now it's time for Block to say goodbye.
But as I've written, the words of the story will live on in your memories and become something real.
This was my first novel, so I was figuring things out as I went. The writing grew smoother toward the end, and it felt like the characters themselves came to life, forging their own paths through the plot and seeking "freedom" on their own terms.
I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. 'Does it mean my control over the characters has weakened?'
When I first started writing this book, I just wanted a single place to put all the stray ideas that were floating around in my head.
The Abyss was that place, a world where anything could happen.
And thank you all for coming to play in the world I created.
This book wasn't my creation alone; it was created by me, by you, and by the characters within the story, all of us working together.
I simply created a "custom world" and set the stage. You were the players, and the characters were the NPCs. Together, we all interacted and built within this world, ultimately creating this 2.7-million-character novel.
There were times, while writing certain scenes, that I would find myself crying. It was just a fictional story, something I had written myself, and yet it still moved me to tears.
'Can fictional words truly trigger real emotions?'
'In that case, are words real or are they an illusion?'
These thoughts influenced the novel's ending. In a way, it was the characters themselves, through their actions, who interfered with the decisions of me, their "Creator."
I also read all of your comments. I would sometimes adjust plot details based on your feedback, and many plot holes were only patched up thanks to your reminders.
You are the ones who made this world more complete.
It's amazing how words can truly weave people together, regardless of what dimension those "people" might exist in.
Perhaps the world isn't as straightforward as it seems. This is the purpose of science fiction: to let us imagine all the things that could possibly exist.
My next book will also be science fiction, but its focus will be more "realistic," centering on the common things we see all around us.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it will be released within the month. I hope you will all join me again to create a new world.
Finally, thank you all for reading. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Feel free to post whatever you want in the comments for this afterword!
