By the time the trio arrived at the cabin, it was already late in the afternoon. Alexander helped Sally and Percy move their luggage from the car to the cabin. They didn't have much, so that was over with quickly. Alexander had decided that he would shamelessly tag along for their vacation, and the duo didn't really mind him tagging along. He was fun to have along with his playful and childish attitude.
They want on a walk along the beach to find a suitable place to roast marshmallows and hot dogs. Along the way, Alexander was talking and laughing while telling them about a funny situation that happened to him a long time ago.
"So, there was this guy I used to hang out with. One day, he woke me up to follow him in the middle of the night…"
//////Flashback//////
"Hey, Alex! Wake up! We have an important mission!" A black-haired man whispered frantically to the sleeping white-haired boy.
"H-huh? What are you going on about? We just got back from our last mission!" Young Alexander hissed back groggily as he quickly got up and started putting tight-fitting black armor.
"There's no time for armor! Just hurry and follow me!" The man quickly replied, ignoring the question while pulling him by the hand.
The man took the boy out of the small wooden cabin and they both quickly and silently disappeared as they ran through the darkness of the forest under a full moon.
They ran silently, barely ruffling the grass they stepped on, skillfully avoiding the trees as they continued on until stopping behind a large bush.
{Alright. The mission objective is behind this bush. On three, jump over and prepare for battle.} The man informed the boy through telepathy with a serious expression on his face.
Alexander began to be serious as well. Not many times has the man next to him had this type of expression. He prepared himself to cast a stun spell before looking at his friend and nodding.
{One…two…three!} They both jumped over the bush and passed through a mist of steam before landing in battle reading stances… well the boy did. The man prepared to run as he waited for the steam to begin to clear out a bit.
As the steam cleared, the duo saw a beautiful silver-haired woman. She was standing in the hot-spring, covering her bountiful chest with a towel. She had a look of surprise on her face as she saw the red-faced boy in suddenly appearing in a battle-ready position and the black haired man preparing to run.
The surprise only lasted a minute before she began releasing a huge pressure, her silver eyes turned into reptilian slits and began glowing. Her eyes didn't make her any less beautiful, it just gave her a sharp beauty unlike before where her eyes gave her a gentle allure.
"And where do you think you are going?" She said as she saw the black-haired man begin to run, her voice echoing through the whole forest.
The boys mind clicked as he finally understood the situation, quickly joined the man as they saw the storm clouds begin to form, transforming the moonlit starry sky.
"You bastard! Why did you have to drag me down with you?!" Alexander screamed at the man running next to him.
"Hahaha! You got to admit though, it was totally worth it though!" The man just laughed it off.
"Teacher, I swear I didn't know! Please spare me!!" The boy decided to begin pleaded instead as he heard the clouds begin to thunder and the winds began picking up.
"Stop running and face your punishment!!" They looked back to see glowing eyes shining through the darkness before a bright flash engulfed them.
There screams echoed throughout the forest the whole night along with thunder.
//////End Flashback//////
"She beat us up black and blue that day. From then on, I never trusted that man again." Alexander finished his story.
He obviously didn't tell them all the details, just enough for them to understand.
"Pfft HAHAHAHAHA!!" Sally and Percy tried to hold their laughter in but they just couldn't and it burst forth. They both held their stomachs as they started to hurt and their shoulders began to shake uncontrollably.
They had found a place to start a small fire and were now roasting the hotdogs while he was telling them the story.
"Haha… Ah. It's been awhile since I've laughed like that. But can you tell me where this happened?" Sally asked after calming down.
"Just a random forest you've probably never heard about." He answered with a small while poking at the fire with a stick.
Percy and Sally felt the atmosphere around Alexander turn a little melancholic as he just looked into the fire. After a bit, Percy decided to change the subject and asked.
"So… why are you wearing a blindfold anyway? You can see since you were moving around easily enough so what's the point?"
"My blindfold? Well, you could say my eyes make people… uncomfortable, so I usually only showed them to my wives?" He answered nonchalantly while taking a bite out of his hot dog. Meanwhile, the duo almost choked on theirs when they heard 'wives'.
"You are married? No, wait! With multiple women?!" Sally asked in disbelief before correcting herself.
"Was." He corrected.
"By the way… what are those blue cylinders that you brought with you?" He asked before the two could ask him to elaborate.
The two of them took the hint and decided to just ignore their curiosity.
"You mean… the marshmallows?" Percy asked in confusion. Who doesn't know what marshmallows are?
Sally proceeded to begin roasting marshmallows after they ate their hot dogs. Alexander did not come from this world, but most worlds he visited before always had roasted meat, so he wasn't surprised by the hot dogs much. But marshmallows? Those he had never seen before.
Sally took out two crackers and a piece of chocolate. She then took a marshmallow off a stick they were using to roast them and made a smore before handing over to Alexander.
"Her you go! A perfect smore!" Sally said happily as he took it from her.
He stared at the white, slightly roasted substance in the middle before shrugging and taking a bite. Suddenly, the two could see his eyebrows rise in surprise before he gobbled up the rest of the smore.
"Th-this is?! Is this the food of the divine?!" He said with shaking hands.
The two just looked at him in confusion. Sally knew for a fact that ambrosia was the food of the gods, so it didn't really click before Percy started talking.
"Looks like he likes it Mom."
And that, is how the Immortal of Magic and Marshmallows was born. He will proceed to found a religion that worshipped the mighty marshmallows!
Just kidding.
Anyway, they put out the fire and began to pack away the things they brought with them back to the cabin.
"Alexander, would you like to spend the night?" Sally asked.
It looked like there was going to be a bad storm soon, and there weren't any places where she could take him to spend the night nearby.
Alexander himself was going to stop being shamelessly tagging along on their vacation and leave after taking them home, but he threw away that idea looking into the kind eyes of Sally Jackson. He could felt blinded by an imaginary bright light that suddenly appeared behind him.
"Sorry for troubling you." He answered as he walked in.
He knew the type of person Sally was. She would probably keep pestering him about what he would do at this time of night and where he would sleep. He doesn't really feel like dealing with the shock of showing his wings to them or teleporting and making her worry for no reason. He could just erase their memories of him and disappear, but he absolutely despises using that kind of magic on anyone, be they the evilest devil or the kindest saint.
It was already dark out and Sally and Percy were tired from the long drive, so they both went to bed right away. Alexander does not need to sleep, but he chose to because staying up alone isn't really fun.
And that's when the nightmare started.
