Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Warmth

Travis was feeling something he never felt before. It felt so warm, soft, and… squishy? "Huh what is this?" *squish squish* "hey what are you doing let go of me." He realized what was holding and thought. "How warm." He was confused. Why did it feel good? So he let go and asked for forgiveness. "Im so sorry I wasn't looking." "Well I don't think it matters too much given the situation. Come on we have to get to a shelter." So he followed her just because he was curious as to what the warmth he felt was.

"How far is the shelter?" "It should be around here…. Oh we made it." "Come in come in"

They tried to squeeze in but it was so crowded.

"Ugh so cramped… I think im suffocating. Its so hot im burning."

Travis realized what that warmth was and quickly decided that it wasn't for him. The smell of sweat had begun to asphyxiate him. He wanted to just run out but it was so crowded. He felt as if he was in a straitjacket. Was he near the point of snapping? Travis tried to wiggle his way trough the sea of sweat and tears. The noises of crying children and explosions only pushed him closer to the edge.

While he tried to get out of this situation. The situation outside was only getting worse. The sound of gunshots stopped. Did they fail or did they succeed?

*Craaaashhs*

The sound of a crumbling building only made it harder for him to get out. The sea of sweat started to panic leaving Travis drowning in it. Was he about to snap or would he succeed?

"Lets get out of here, its too cramped, excuse me, excuse me."

Travis was so happy to hear that. He thought maybe she's cool. So they swam away from the sweat and managed to get out.

"Honestly I was just curious as to what was going on out here."

Travis thought. "She isn't very normal." He stopped and looked at the situation outside and he couldn't of been happier as to what he saw. It was a swarm of tiny black dots that defeated the military. He thought. "Marvelous I might even get to see one up close." The sight of dilapidated buildings. The smell of the smoke coming from the distorted military vehicles only got him more excited as to what the invaders could possibly do. And then he looked down at the asphalt filled with cracks and more crushed vehicles and noticed some of the fallen ships. One was really close yet far enough to not be a clear sight. So Travis thought. Why not?

"Hey you wanna go check out that ship?" "I don't know im scared. I should've stayed inside."

Travis once again felt disappointed. She was just like the rest.

"Alright lets go." "Oh are you sure?" "Yea I might as well, there might not be a tomorrow anyways."

His faith was once again restored although not fully. So they walked closer and closer. One step at a time. The fallen ship only becoming clearer with every step they take. And once they got close enough to see this thing that looked like it came out of a sci fi movie. With every little line, wire, and engine. seeming like it all had a specific purpose. They came to a halt and smelled something so foreign. It smelled bittersweet and nostalgic to Travis but she didn't think the same. She looked disgusted with a face showing every wrinkle. And they noticed a strange sound.

*@@@@@@… @@@@…*

It was coming from the ship. Such a foreign sound. High yet low pitch but not exactly in the middle either. It had this weird twang to it. But they just stood there and listened bewildered by what was unknown to them.
