(Okay, time for chapter 19, hope you like it, guys!)
---
The feast had long since ended, the grand hall now quiet save for the soft footsteps of servants clearing away the mountain of empty plates—a testament to the appetite of a Saiyan and his equally ravenous blonde companion. The castle had settled into a peaceful silence; its guests had retired to their chambers to rest after the exhausting battle and the subsequent celebration.
All except one.
Kyo stood alone on one of the castle's highest balconies, his arms resting on the stone railing as he gazed out at the breathtaking landscape before him. The Land of Snow lived up to its name—endless white plains stretched as far as the eye could see, interrupted only by the occasional mountain peak piercing through the blanket of clouds. Above, the night sky was alive with color, the aurora borealis dancing in waves of ethereal green and blue, painting the heavens with brushstrokes of light.
It was beautiful. Peaceful. A stark contrast to the destruction they'd wrought just hours before.
Kyo exhaled slowly, his breath forming a small cloud in the frigid air. Despite the cold that would have most people shivering uncontrollably, he felt perfectly comfortable—one of the many benefits of having Ki coursing through his body.
"Can't sleep?"
The voice was soft, almost hesitant. Kyo turned to find Koyuki stepping out onto the balcony, wrapped in an elegant fur-lined cloak that did little to hide her graceful figure. Her long dark hair flowed freely down her back, and in the aurora's shifting light, she looked almost otherworldly—a snow princess from some ancient fairy tale.
"Your Majesty," Kyo greeted with a small smile. "I could ask you the same thing."
"Koyuki," she corrected gently as she moved to stand beside him at the railing. "When it's just the two of us, please. I get enough 'Your Majesty' from everyone else."
"Alright then, Koyuki," Kyo amended, returning his gaze to the aurora. "And to answer your question... yeah, I guess I couldn't sleep. Too much on my mind."
Koyuki studied his profile—the strong jawline, the relaxed yet somehow still alert posture of a warrior who never truly let his guard down. "The battle?"
"Partially," Kyo admitted. "We won, but... if we'd been even a second slower, if the timing had been off, if Garly had decided to take us seriously from the start..." He trailed off, his hands tightening slightly on the railing. "We got lucky."
"I don't think luck had anything to do with it," Koyuki said softly. "I watched that battle, Kyo. What you and your team accomplished wasn't luck—it was skill, trust, and an unbreakable bond. That monster was a force of nature, and you stopped it."
Kyo turned to look at her, surprised by the conviction in her voice. "You give us too much credit."
"And you don't give yourself enough," she countered, a hint of a smile playing at her lips. "It's rather endearing, actually. A man with the power to destroy worlds, yet so humble about his achievements."
"I'm not trying to be humble," Kyo said with a slight chuckle. "I just... I know there are beings out there far stronger than me. Garly was proof of that. If he'd been at full power, if he'd actually tried—"
"But he didn't," Koyuki interrupted, placing a hand gently on his arm. "You won. Your team is safe. My kingdom is safe. That's what matters."
Kyo looked down at her hand on his arm, then back up to meet her eyes. There was something in her gaze—a warmth, a vulnerability—that made his heart skip a beat.
"You're right," he conceded softly. "Thank you. For the perspective."
They stood in comfortable silence for a moment, watching the aurora dance across the sky. The only sounds were the distant howl of wind and the occasional creak of ice settling in the frozen landscape below.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Koyuki murmured, though Kyo got the distinct impression she wasn't talking about the aurora anymore. "The way the light moves, never the same pattern twice. Always changing, always evolving."
"Yeah," Kyo agreed, acutely aware of how close she was standing. "It is."
"Kyo..." Koyuki's voice dropped to barely above a whisper. "May I tell you something? Something I probably shouldn't, but... I can't keep it to myself any longer."
Kyo felt a flutter of apprehension in his chest. He had a pretty good idea where this was going, and while part of him wanted to stop her—to save her from the inevitable disappointment—another part of him knew she deserved to say what was on her heart.
"Of course," he said gently.
Koyuki took a deep breath, as if gathering her courage. "When you first arrived in my kingdom, I thought you were just another shinobi. Skilled, certainly, but nothing out of the ordinary." She laughed softly. "I couldn't have been more wrong."
She turned to face him fully, and Kyo did the same, giving her his complete attention.
"Watching you fight, seeing the way you protect those precious to you, the way you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders without complaint..." Her voice wavered slightly. "And yet you still find time to be kind, to be gentle, to see people as more than just tools or obstacles."
"Koyuki—"
"Please, let me finish," she said, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "I know this is foolish. I know you have your companions, your life back in Konoha, responsibilities I can't even begin to imagine. But I..." She took another breath, steadying herself. "I'm falling in love with you, Kyo Uchiha."
The words hung in the air between them, heavy with emotion and consequence.
Kyo's heart clenched. He'd known this was coming, had seen the signs in the way she looked at him, the lingering touches, the blushes. And the worst part? He couldn't deny that he felt something for her, too. How could he not? She was beautiful, intelligent, strong in her own way, and had a heart as vast as her frozen kingdom.
But his life was complicated. More than complicated—it was a chaotic mess of cosmic threats, multiple women, who all held pieces of his heart, and responsibilities that spanned dimensions.
"Koyuki..." Kyo began, reaching up to gently cup her cheek. She leaned into the touch, her eyes closing briefly. "You have no idea how much that means to me. You're an incredible woman—strong, compassionate, worthy of so much more than what I can offer."
Her eyes opened, understanding and sadness mixing in their depths. "But?"
"But my life is complicated," Kyo said, his voice filled with regret. "You already know about the girls—about Naruko, Satsuki, Sakura, all of them. They're not just companions or teammates. They're my... well, it's complicated."
"Your lovers," Koyuki supplied, and there was no judgment in her voice. "All of them?"
Kyo nodded, feeling heat creep up his neck. "Yeah. I know how it sounds—"
"It sounds like you're a man with an enormous heart and even more enormous responsibilities," Koyuki interrupted. "I'm not naive, Kyo. I understand what you're telling me. I understand that your heart is already full, that adding one more person to that complicated web might break everything."
She stepped closer, close enough that he could feel the warmth radiating from her despite the cold air.
"But I'm not asking you to love me the same way you love them. I'm not asking you to marry me or whisk me away to Konoha." Her hand came up to rest over his, still cupping her cheek. "I'm just asking... when you think of the Land of Snow, when you think of this place... think of me too. Come back and visit. Let me be part of your world, even if it's just as a friend who wishes she could be something more."
Kyo felt something crack inside his chest. This woman—this beautiful, brave woman—was asking for so little while offering so much.
"Koyuki, you deserve someone who can give you everything—"
"I deserve to choose who I give my heart to," she corrected firmly. "And I choose you. Even if all I can have are stolen moments on balconies under the aurora, even if all I can be is one more person in your already crowded life... I choose you, Kyo."
Before Kyo could respond, before he could figure out what the hell he was supposed to say to that kind of declaration, she rose up on her toes and pressed her lips against his.
The kiss was soft, tentative, filled with all the longing and hope and sadness of a love that couldn't quite be. Kyo's eyes widened in surprise before slowly closing, his free hand moving to her waist as he returned the kiss with equal gentleness.
For a moment, there was no complicated harem, no cosmic threats, no responsibilities. There was just a man and a woman under the stars, sharing something precious and fleeting.
And then—
"FOUND THEM!"
The shout shattered the moment like glass. Kyo and Koyuki sprang apart, both turning toward the source of the voice with expressions of shock and—in Kyo's case—dawning horror.
Standing in the doorway to the balcony were three very familiar, very smug-looking women.
Naruko stood with her arms crossed, a triumphant grin on her face. "I TOLD you he'd be on the highest balcony! You owe me ramen, Satsuki-teme!"
Satsuki's expression was a mixture of amusement and exasperation. "You got lucky, dobe." Her dark eyes shifted to the flustered queen and her equally flustered boyfriend. "Though it seems we interrupted something."
"Oh, we definitely interrupted something," Zangya purred, her alien eyes gleaming with mischief. "And here I thought you'd at least wait until we were back in Konoha before adding another girl to the collection, Kyo-kun~"
Koyuki's face had turned a shade of red that rivaled the Uchiha clan symbol. "T-This isn't— We weren't—"
"Relax, Your Majesty," Naruko said, walking onto the balcony with the others following. "We're not mad or anything."
"You're... not?" Koyuki looked bewildered.
Satsuki shook her head, a small smile playing at her lips. "We knew this was coming the moment you started looking at him like he hung the moon. It was inevitable."
"To be fair, he kind of did save your entire kingdom from a rampaging Legendary Super Saiyan," Sakura's voice called out as she too emerged onto the now very crowded balcony, followed by Kakane. "That tends to make quite an impression."
"You're all... okay with this?" Koyuki asked, looking between the women in disbelief.
Zangya laughed, a sound like wind chimes. "Honey, there are currently twelve of us back in Konoha, all sharing this dense Saiyan. What's one more?"
"Twelve?!" Koyuki's eyes widened.
"Give or take," Naruko said with a shrug. "We kinda stopped counting after Kurama joined."
"The Nine-Tails?!"
"Long story," Satsuki interjected. "The point is, Your Majesty—"
"Koyuki," the queen corrected automatically.
"Koyuki," Satsuki amended with a nod. "Welcome to the club. There's a waiting list, a schedule for quality time, and more drama than any reasonable person should have to deal with. But..." Her expression softened. "There's also more love, more family, than most people get in a lifetime."
"You're really okay with sharing him?" Koyuki asked, her voice small.
"Do we have a choice?" Sakura said with a laugh. "Have you tried telling this idiot no? He looks at you with those stupidly kind eyes and that dopey smile, and suddenly you're agreeing to things you never thought you would."
"Like sharing him with a dozen other women," Naruko added with a giggle.
"And fighting cosmic threats," Satsuki said dryly.
"And training until you literally can't move," Sakura continued.
"And eating competitions that empty entire restaurants," Kakane added with amusement in her visible eye.
Zangya moved forward and draped an arm around the still-shocked queen's shoulders. "But you know what? It's worth it. Every crazy, chaotic, exhausting moment. Because at the end of the day, we're not just his lovers or his harem or whatever you want to call it." She looked at Kyo with genuine affection. "We're his family. And if you want to be part of that family, Koyuki... well, you're more than welcome."
Koyuki looked at each of them in turn, then at Kyo, who stood there looking equal parts embarrassed and touched by his girlfriends' acceptance.
"I... I don't know what to say," Koyuki whispered.
"Say you'll be patient when it's not your day on the schedule," Naruko suggested with a grin.
"Say you'll help us keep him from doing stupid self-sacrificing things," Satsuki added.
"Say you'll join us for girl talk about how dense he can be," Sakura said with a laugh.
Koyuki felt tears prickling at her eyes, but this time they were tears of joy and relief. She'd expected anger, jealousy, rejection. Instead, she'd found... acceptance. Understanding. Sisterhood, even.
"Thank you," she said, her voice thick with emotion. "All of you. I promise I'll do my best to be worthy of this... family."
Naruko immediately pulled her into a hug. "You already are, dattebayo!"
"Welcome to the chaos, Your Majesty," Sakura added with a warm smile.
Even Satsuki offered a small, genuine smile. "Just... try to keep your royal composure when Naruko starts one of her ridiculous competitions with Kyo. It gets embarrassing."
"HEY!" Naruko protested, releasing Koyuki to glare at Satsuki.
As the girls began their familiar bickering, Kyo felt his heart swell with an emotion he couldn't quite name. These women—all of them—had just accepted another person into their complicated family without hesitation. No jealousy, no pettiness, just... love.
He was the luckiest bastard in the world.
"Kyo-kun~" Zangya's voice pulled him from his thoughts. "You're making that dopey face again."
"What dopey face?" Kyo protested.
"The one where you look all sappy and emotional," Kakane supplied helpfully, her eye crinkling with amusement. "It's quite endearing, actually."
Before Kyo could defend himself, a soft chime echoed from Kakane's pouch. The silver-haired jonin pulled out a small communication scroll, her eye scanning it quickly.
"Message from Tsunade-sama," Kakane announced.
The group tensed slightly, but Kakane's relaxed posture kept them from going into full alert mode.
"Is everything alright?" Kyo asked.
"Everything's fine," Kakane assured them with a small smile behind her mask. "She's just reminding us that we've been gone for almost a week and that while she's glad we defeated the 'big scary monster'—her words—we should probably come home before the council starts asking uncomfortable questions about why the Hokage's best team is gallivanting around the Land of Snow."
Naruko snorted. "Gallivanting? We were saving a whole kingdom!"
"The council doesn't care about that," Satsuki said dryly. "They only care about missions that directly benefit Konoha."
"Well, we did establish a solid alliance with the Land of Snow," Sakura pointed out. "That should count for something."
"It will," Kakane agreed. "But Tsunade-sama is right. We should head back. Get some rest, file our reports, and... actually sleep in our own beds for once."
"Aww, but the royal beds are so comfy!" Naruko whined.
Koyuki stepped forward, her royal composure returning, though her eyes were still soft. "You're welcome to stay as long as you wish, but I understand duty calls." She looked at Kyo. "Your Hokage sounds like a wise woman."
"She has her moments," Kyo said with a grin. "Though don't tell her I said that. She'll never let me hear the end of it."
"Your secret is safe with me," Koyuki promised, a playful smile tugging at her lips.
"So, we're heading back?" Sakura asked, stretching her arms. "I have to admit, I'm actually looking forward to my own bed. And Asuka's cooking. No offense to your royal chefs, Your Majesty."
"None taken," Koyuki said with a laugh. "Though I must say, watching you all eat was quite the experience. Especially you two." She gestured at Kyo and Naruko.
"Hey, we were hungry!" Naruko defended.
"You ate enough for twenty people," Satsuki deadpanned.
"And it was glorious!" Kyo declared, making the girls laugh.
Koyuki felt a pang in her chest knowing they were about to leave, but she kept her smile in place. "Before you go... may I have a moment? Just to say a proper goodbye?"
"Of course," Kyo said.
The girls, sensing the need for privacy, began filing off the balcony. Zangya winked at Koyuki as she passed, while Naruko gave her an encouraging thumbs up. Satsuki simply nodded in understanding, and Sakura offered a warm smile.
Soon, it was just Kyo and Koyuki again, standing under the aurora's dancing light.
"So," Koyuki began, her hands clasped in front of her. "This is goodbye. For now."
"For now," Kyo confirmed. "I meant what I said, Koyuki. I'll come back to visit. The Land of Snow is beautiful, and..." He reached out to gently take her hand. "You're worth coming back to."
Koyuki's breath hitched. "You'd better. I'll be waiting." She stepped closer, rising on her toes to press a soft, lingering kiss to his cheek. "Come back safely, Kyo. And when you do... maybe we can watch the aurora together again."
"I'd like that," Kyo said softly.
With one last squeeze of his hand, Koyuki stepped back, her queen's mask firmly in place even as her eyes shimmered with unshed tears.
"Go," she said. "Before I do something undignified like beg you to stay."
Kyo smiled, bowed respectfully, and turned to leave. At the doorway, he paused and looked back.
"Thank you, Koyuki. For everything."
"Thank you, Kyo. For saving us. For seeing me."
With a final nod, Kyo disappeared into the castle, leaving Koyuki alone on the balcony once more.
She stood there for a long moment, then smiled—a real, genuine smile that lit up her entire face.
"I'll be waiting, my warrior," she whispered to the aurora. "However long it takes."
---
The teleportation was instantaneous. One moment, Team 7 was gathered in the castle courtyard with Koyuki and her guards waving goodbye. The next, they were standing in the familiar courtyard of the Uchiha compound, the warm evening sun of Konoha a stark contrast to the perpetual snow of their previous location.
"Ugh, teleportation is never going to feel normal," Sakura groaned, steadying herself against a nearby wall.
"Your stomach will adjust eventually," Zangya said cheerfully, completely unaffected.
"Easy for you to say, you're used to space travel," Naruko grumbled, though she looked more excited than nauseous. "But man, it's good to be home!"
"KYO-KUN! YOU'RE BACK!"
The shout came from the main house, and suddenly the courtyard was filled with people. Hinata rushed out first, her face lighting up with joy. Behind her came Asuka, Tsunade, Jirayu, Orochi, and several others.
"We felt your energy signature!" Hinata said, slightly breathless. "You're back! Is everyone okay? Did the mission succeed?"
"We're fine, Hinata-chan," Kyo assured her with a warm smile. "Mission was a success. The Land of Snow is safe."
"Thank Kami," Asuka breathed, her hands clasped over her chest. "We were so worried when we saw that massive energy spike from the north. What happened out there?"
"Long story," Kakane said diplomatically. "We'll give a full report tomorrow. But the short version is: very powerful enemy, very difficult fight, but we won."
Tsunade's sharp eyes scanned each member of the team, her medical training immediately assessing their condition. "You all look exhausted. Chakra depleted?"
"Ki depleted, actually," Satsuki corrected. "It was... intense."
"How intense are we talking?" Jirayu asked, her expression serious.
Naruko and Sakura exchanged glances, both remembering the overwhelming power of Garly, but Kyo stepped in before they could elaborate.
"We'll cover everything in the debriefing," Kyo said firmly. "Right now, I think we all just need food, rest, and maybe a week-long nap."
Orochi's golden eyes gleamed with curiosity, clearly wanting to press for details, but Tsunade raised a hand.
"He's right. You all look dead on your feet." The Hokage's expression softened. "Go clean up. Asuka, can you prepare something for them to eat?"
"Already planned on it," Asuka said with a warm smile. "I'll have dinner ready in an hour. Everyone's favorite dishes."
"You're a goddess, Asuka-chan," Sakura sighed in relief.
As the group began dispersing—Zangya heading to her room with a lazy wave, Kakane excusing herself to file a preliminary report—Kyo found himself surrounded by the girls who'd stayed behind.
"We missed you," Hinata said softly, her pale eyes warm with affection.
"It's only been a week, Hinata-chan," Kyo said with a gentle smile, reaching out to pat her head.
"A week too long," Ino interjected, appearing from the house with Tenten beside her. "Do you have any idea how boring it's been without you around?"
"Hey!" Tsunade protested. "I gave you plenty of training assignments!"
"Exactly. Boring AND exhausting," Ino countered with a playful grin.
Tenten punched her friend's shoulder lightly. "What she means is, we're glad you're back safe. All of you."
"Group hug!" Naruko declared, and before anyone could protest, she'd wrapped her arms around Kyo, pulling him into an embrace that quickly became a pile-on as the other girls joined in.
Kyo found himself at the center of a warm, chaotic mass of affection—Naruko clinging to his front, Satsuki pressed against his left side, Sakura on his right, Hinata shyly hugging from behind, with Ino and Tenten joining from the sides.
"Can't... breathe..." Kyo wheezed, though he was smiling.
"That's what you get for leaving us behind," Ino teased.
"Next time, take us with you," Tenten added.
"There better not BE a next time," Tsunade said firmly. "At least not for a while. You've all earned some downtime."
The girls finally released Kyo, who took a deep, grateful breath. As the group began heading inside—still chattering, still teasing, still radiating that comfortable warmth of family—Kyo felt the tension he'd been carrying finally ease.
Home. He was really home.
---
Later that evening, after a long, hot shower that washed away the grime and exhaustion of battle, Kyo found himself alone in his room. He'd changed into comfortable clothes—a simple black shirt and loose pants—and was about to collapse onto his bed when something on his desk caught his eye.
A small black notebook, partially buried under some mission reports and weapon maintenance tools. His handwriting was scrawled across the cover: "Important Stuff - Don't Lose!"
Curious, and with a growing sense of dread, Kyo picked it up and flipped it open.
"Promise to take Tenten to that weapons shop she's been talking about - Date!"
"Ino wants to show me the Yamanaka flower shop properly - Date!"
"Sakura mentioned wanting to visit Training Ground 7 for a picnic - Date!"
The list went on. And on.
Kyo felt his stomach drop as realization crashed over him like a cold wave. In the chaos of training, missions, cosmic threats, and life-or-death battles... he'd completely forgotten about all the small, personal promises he'd made. The simple dates, the quality time, the normal relationship things that had gotten pushed aside for world-saving.
"Oh no," he muttered, sinking onto his bed with the notebook clutched in his hands. "Oh no, no, no..."
He'd been so focused on making them stronger, on awakening their Ki, on preparing them for the threats he knew were coming... that he'd neglected something equally important. Just being with them. Really being present, not as their teacher or protector, but as their partner.
Some boyfriend he was.
The guilt settled in his chest like a heavy stone. These incredible women—they'd trusted him, followed him into impossible battles, pushed themselves beyond their limits because they believed in him. And what had he given them in return? More training. More responsibilities. More reasons to risk their lives.
But when was the last time he'd taken one of them on a proper date? When was the last time he'd done something just to make them smile, without any ulterior motive of making them stronger or preparing them for war?
A soft knock on his door pulled him from his spiral of self-recrimination.
"Kyo-kun? Dinner will be ready in ten minutes. Everyone's gathering in—" Asuka paused as she peeked in, immediately noticing his expression. "What's wrong?"
Kyo held up the notebook, shame evident on his face. "I forgot, Asuka-chan. All these promises... these dates I was supposed to take everyone on... I completely forgot about them."
Asuka stepped into the room, closing the door softly behind her. Her expression was gentle, understanding. "Kyo-kun, you've been busy. Saving kingdoms, fighting powerful enemies, training everyone to unlock their Ki... I'm sure the girls understand—"
"No," Kyo interrupted, his voice firm despite the guilt. "That's not an excuse. That's never an excuse." He looked down at the notebook, his grip tightening. "These women—they've given up so much. Normal lives, safety, peace... They've thrown themselves into danger again and again, trusted me to lead them, believed in me even when things seemed impossible."
He looked up at Asuka, determination blazing through the guilt in his gray eyes.
"The least I can do—the absolute bare minimum—is keep my promises. The least I can do is show them that they're not just soldiers in my army or students in my training program. They're the people I love, and they deserve to be treated like it."
Asuka's expression softened with affection and pride. "So what are you going to do?"
Kyo stood up, clutching the notebook like it was a sacred text. "I'm going to make this right. All of it. Starting tomorrow."
"The world can wait?" Asuka asked gently.
"The world can wait," Kyo confirmed. "Right now, I need to focus on something more important—taking care of the people I love. Really taking care of them, not just keeping them alive."
Asuka smiled, moving forward to gently cup his cheek. "This is why they love you, you know. Not because you're strong or because you can teach them amazing techniques. But because you care. Because even when you mess up, you want to make it right."
Kyo leaned into her touch for a moment, drawing comfort from her warmth. "I don't deserve any of you."
"Maybe not," Asuka teased lightly. "But you're stuck with us anyway." She stepped back, heading for the door. "Now come on. Dinner's almost ready, and you know how Naruko gets when she's hungry."
"Like a blonde tornado," Kyo agreed with a small chuckle.
"Exactly. So come on, before she eats everything."
---
Dinner that evening was as chaotic as ever—the long table in the main hall extended to accommodate everyone. Tsunade sat at one head with Jirayu and Orochi flanking her. At the same time, Kyo found himself surrounded by the younger generation—Naruko on his left, practically vibrating with energy, Satsuki on his right, maintaining her cool composure, and across from him sat Hinata, Sakura, Ino, and Tenten.
Multiple conversations overlapped—Naruko loudly recounting their battle (with creative embellishments), Zangya entertaining Jirayu with tales of Universe 7, Kakane quietly discussing mission logistics with Tsunade.
Kyo waited until there was a natural lull in the conversation, then stood up, tapping his glass with a chopstick to get everyone's attention.
"Hey, everyone? Can I say something?"
The room quieted almost immediately, all eyes turning to him. Kyo suddenly felt very aware of how many people were staring—easily twenty pairs of eyes, all fixed on him with varying degrees of curiosity and concern.
"So," Kyo began, unconsciously rubbing the back of his neck. "I realized something today. Something important that I've been... really stupid about."
"Kyo-kun?" Hinata's soft voice held a note of concern.
He pulled out the little black notebook, and he saw recognition flash across several faces—Tenten's eyes widened, Ino leaned forward with interest, and Sakura's expression shifted to understanding.
"I made promises," Kyo continued, his voice steady despite the nervousness he felt. "To a lot of you. Promises to spend time together, to go on proper dates, to just... be together. Normal couple stuff. And I let those promises get buried under training schedules and mission prep and worrying about the next threat."
He looked around the table, meeting each girl's eyes in turn.
"I told myself it was because there were more important things to focus on. Making you all stronger, preparing for dangers, and keeping everyone safe. And those things ARE important. But..." He took a breath. "They're not MORE important than you. Than showing you that you matter to me, not just as teammates or students, but as the people you are."
"Kyo, it's okay—" Sakura started, but he shook his head.
"No, it's not. You all deserve better than a boyfriend who only pays attention to you during training sessions or when there's a monster to fight." He held up the notebook. "But I'm going to fix it. Starting tomorrow, I'm making good on every single promise in this book. Every date, every moment of quality time I said we'd have... I'm doing all of them."
"All of them?" Ino repeated, her blue eyes wide. "Kyo-kun, how many are we talking about?"
"Twenty-three," Kyo admitted. "I counted."
A collective gasp went around the table.
"Twenty-three dates?!" Naruko exclaimed. "That's gonna take forever!"
"I don't care how long it takes," Kyo said firmly. "You're all worth it. Every single one of you."
Tenten leaned forward, a teasing smile playing on her lips despite the emotion in her eyes. "That's quite the undertaking. So when are you planning to start this... what should we call it? The Apology Tour?"
"The Apology Tour," Kyo repeated with a grin. "I like that. And I'm starting tomorrow."
The room erupted with speculation—girls calling out questions, playful arguments about who should go first, laughter mixing with excited chatter.
"WHO'S FIRST?!" Naruko demanded, standing up dramatically and pointing at him. "Come on, don't leave us hanging!"
The room fell silent again, everyone waiting for his answer.
Kyo looked down at his notebook—at the very first entry he'd made, months ago, a promise he'd made after a late-night conversation about weapons and dreams—then looked up at the girl who'd been waiting so patiently.
"Tenten," he said clearly. "You're first. I owe you a trip to that legendary weapons shop in the capital, and it's long overdue."
Tenten's reaction was instantaneous and beautiful. Her eyes went wide, her hand flew to her mouth, and for a moment she looked like she might cry from sheer joy.
"Really?" she managed, her voice slightly choked. "Tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow," Kyo confirmed with a warm smile. "Just you and me. A proper date. No training, no missions, no interruptions."
"I'll hold you to that!" Tenten said, though her brilliant smile undermined any threat in her words.
The table erupted again—Ino groaning dramatically about having to wait, Sakura laughing at her friend's theatrics, Naruko demanding to know when HER turn was, Hinata blushing and smiling softly.
But Tenten's joy was unmistakable. She stood up, walked around the table with purpose, and before anyone could react, threw her arms around Kyo's neck in a tight hug.
"Thank you," she whispered in his ear, her voice thick with emotion. "You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this."
Kyo returned the hug gently. "I'm sorry I made you wait. But I promise, it'll be worth it."
When Tenten returned to her seat—face flushed, eyes sparkling, radiating happiness—the dinner conversation resumed with renewed energy. Plans were being made, playful bets were placed on how the dates would go, and through it all, Kyo felt the guilt in his chest ease.
He'd made mistakes. He'd let his priorities get twisted. But starting tomorrow, he was going to show each and every one of these incredible women exactly how much they meant to him.
The threats could wait. The training could pause. The world could spin on without him for a few weeks.
Right now, his family needed him.
And this time, he wasn't going to let them down.
