Chapter 9 - We Were Exiled

After the talk, Alex's mom opened up a crack in space straight to his house and Alex's mom told his friends to tell their parents that they would spend the night there.

Ofcourse all of them agreed so they could talk about what just happened today, and that they did.

10:23 P.M.

they just finished their dinners and went up-stairs to Alex's room, which looks like any ordinary room having a blue bed, a circular blue mattress, and stripped of blue and white wall paper, in short, it was a very blue room.

And to give a piece of how big the house is, Alex's room alone is 6 square metes, and there are a total is 3 rooms on the 2nd floor, and the 1st floor has a total of 6 rooms including the living room, kitchen, bathroom, storage, and 2 guest rooms.

Their house is bigger than average, but not a mansion, one could say they are on the better side of the town they were in. The other's house weren't bad either mostly having the same layout with a few different tweaks of their own.

Inside the room, with only a nightlight as the source of light in the room, each of them were sitting around the room, Joana and Charlotte were sitting on the bed, Kristin and Elijah were browsing his shelf, Leslie was sitting by the window staring at the cold night city scape, occasionally looking at the moon.

Alex himself is sitting in front his turned off computer screen, looking at his reflection, while also observing what his friends were doing through the reflection.

He then turn to face them and said, "So? What now?" He asked the same question Leslie asked when they met Estela's group.

Kristin answered while still browsing the shelf, "You're asking us? What about you, who knew you were from that fantasy place they were talking about,"

Alex was scanning the room, looking at everyone to see if they have anything to say, to his dismay, all of them stayed quiet and also stare back at him.

"I'm gonna go talk to mom." Alex said as he was standing up and walked out the room and went to the kitchen where his mother could be seen washing the dishes.

Alex took a deep breath, "Mom..." He said, his mother turning around and said, "What is it dear?"

"Don't act dumb mom, you know why I'm standing in front of you now," Alex said with a serious expression.

"Sigh... I knew I could only hide it for so long" Mrs. Winter said as she turned off the water and signal Alex to sit at the dinner table.

As she sat down, she asked, "So? Ask away, I know you have a lot on your mind right now,"

Alex took another deep breath trying to calm his mind and fast beating heart, "What are we really?"

Alex's mom wasted no time and answered, "We are one of the 2 special races over on Phantasia, known as 'manarites' who has a unique connection to mana as we are purely made out of them," she said as straight forward as she can.

Alex just nodded and ask his 2nd question, "Ok... Then why can't I cast or use some spells like you do?"

"Actually, you can, I just didn't give you proper training because I wanted you to have a normal life," Mrs. Winter said, sadness visible in her eyes, "But who would've thought that your friends would be chosen by those damned spirits,"

"Is there anything wrong?" Alex said as he thought when she heard his mother curse the spirits.

"Its nothing dear, don't mind it," She said as she dodge the question.

Alex didn't pry into it as he asked his next question, "If we were from that Phantasia place, then why are we here?"

Mrs. Winter just stared at Alex for a full 2 minutes before answering, "We were exiled..."
