The mentors announced the hunting competition and naturally the competitive spirits lit up as one could actually see real fire in Kristin's eyes, speaking of which, in the last week, Kristin has been training under Pine and Fern's guidance.
She already achieved mastery over the wind element and has a pretty good control to the point that the wind attack would curve around the tree upfront to hit the one on the back.
For reference even Pine himself is having a hard time to perform such a feat as it takes too much concentration and eats up more mana to do even with his perfect mastery of his magic.
They also learned that she could control the other elements which are water, earth, and fire. But they couldn't teach her how to use them as they themselves don't know how to use them.
As for the others, Elijah was still talkative but he refrains to use his magic from time to time as to not 'hurt' anyone, the others noticed this and asked him but he just said, "Well I accidently hit someone and they were shocked."
And Elijah's smug face was immediately punched by Alex, it wasn't strong but still hurt none the less.
"Hey! That was unnecessary!" Elijah said angrily.
"And so was your joke," Alex refuted.
As they bicker at each other, let's move on to Leslie, she learned that she could control plants and use them to do her bidding, she was referred as a druid by the village and was given high respect, even higher than what they give Joana who they called "A Miracle Healer."
She trains under Fern who surprisingly has a lot of information about druids and what they could do. She tried to ask him one day but Fern just dismissed the question saying he'll tell her about it in the future
Next is Charlotte and she pretty much learned on her own, testing different animal parts like bear paws, bird wings and the one she prefers to use the most was the wolf legs which gave her a lot of speed and jumping power.
She often sparred with Birch which gave the others quite a scare because Birch is a huge man almost made up of only muscles and facing off against Charlotte's small and petite body, it looked like Birch's gonna massacre Charlotte.
Although she knows mixed martial arts and often competes on mini tournaments around Sandy Springs, her friends couldn't help but worry since they knew that Birch is a battle hardened man. But to their surprise, Birch is having a hard time catching her during their spars.
Charlotte's small body makes her more agile than normal, but speed isn't everything. Even though Birch can't catch her small body, she couldn't exactly damage him much because of his build, so they just both end up in a tie most of the time but Charlotte hasn't win yet.
Alex was... the odd ball out of the bunch, he could use each of his friends magic, whether be it Joana's miraculous healing power or Leslie's affinity with plants, Elijah described it as mana manipulation where Alex could use any type of magic as long as he could provide or sustain the spell.
Alex just accepted this fact since Elijah is a bigger nerd than he is, even though he also watches anime, Elijah has bigger knowledge when it comes to fiction and the like, he described Alex as one of those OP protagonist.
Alex denied being one of those 'OP protagonist' as it was pretty hard to believe for a normal guy like him to be one of those but Elijah just said "But you're not a regular guy, you are literally a whole different species than us."
And at this point Pine, Fern and all the other mentors clapped their hands getting everyone's attention and stating, "Ok here are the rules, no attacking each other, no stealing from each other and most importantly be safe out there, we will assess your catch at the end of the day and declare who is the winner after sunset."
The air became tense as the competition was about to start as Fern raised his hands and "START!" He declared as they disappeared to the trees, well besides Alex's group, they were on the slow side.
