Evelyn was extremely distraught about her husband's death. She still couldn't believe what happened.Though everything happened in front of her she couldn't believe it. "I told him not to go","I told him not to go" Evelyn kept repeating over and over like a broken sound track."WHY" Evelyn yelled. why do you have to be this cruel to me? She wailed miserably. What have I done wrong?Why do you only punish the good people? Why did you have to punish me like this? What grave mistake did I make that you punished me by taking my husband away from me? Evelyn continued to wail.
Evelyn's friend Caroline picked up the distraught Evelyn and took her to Emma because she believed that at the moment only Emma could calm her mother down. The mother daughter duo has always been each other's strength and weaknesses ,they always comforted each other.
Evelyn was taken back into the house Emma anxiously waited for her. As soon as she caught sight of her mother she ran towards her as fast as she could and began bombarding her with questions of her father's death, she was in denial. She refused to believe what she just saw, nothing happened and her dad was absolutely fine.
Mom, mom, She called out.
Mom tell me what happened to my daddy ? why is his car on fire and who was that on top of my dad's car? Mom is my dad going to be okay? Nothing happened to him right? He is perfectly fine nothing happened, Mom please stop crying now, my dad is perfectly fine, he is super dad remember? Nothing can ever hurt him, Emma continued but Emma's words only made Evelyn cry harder.
She reached out for her daughter and embraced her tightly. My baby, Evelyn called after a while. I have something to tell you, your fa-f-father, he i-i-s g-gone. Evelyn said between sobs.
No! Emma screamed,
No, nothing happened to my daddy. My dad is absolutely fine, he-he promised.He promised to be with me on my birthday so he can't leave me now. You are lying to me right? Mom tell me it's a lie, uncontrollable tears began rolling down Emma's cheeks.Mom my father is fine right, nothing happened to him,Emma said in denial.
Evelyn hugged her daughter even tighteras they both cried uncontrollably in each others arms.After a while,Caroline took the mother daughter duo back to the house. Both Evelyn and Emma were devastated. They had stopped crying but they were really quite. Ethan's death was a huge blow to the both of them. The house that was always so cheerful became as quite as a cemetery.
The next day,
Evelyn didn't sleep a wink throughout the night. Her eyes were extremely swollen,there were dark circles under her eyes,her nose was extremely red and she looked extremely tattered. The shock of the day before was still evident on her face as the sunrise reflected on her, she grudgingly got up from her bed to check herself in the mirror when suddenly there was a knock on the door,
Knock,knock.
Evelyn's head snapped towards the direction of the door. "Evelyn I'm home" Evelyn heard.Ethan? She called out.
Ethan,Ethan! She repeated as she ran towards the direction of the door happily. Ethan! Ethan I missed you,Evelyn said as soon as she opened the door but she was left disappointed when she realized that it wasn't Ethan but Caroline. The smile on her face instantly disappeared and were replaced by tears.
Evelyn couldn't stop crying.
Ethan! Ethan! she called out and ran passed Caroline.
Evelyn , Caroline called running after her.
Ethan! Ethan where are you? Ciara called. She kept running on the streets calling Ethan's name, She was so hellbent on finding Ethan that she didn't notice the speeding car coming towards her.
Caroline ran after Evelyn and saw the car speeding towards her, Evelyn look out!!! Caroline called.She immediately ran towards Evelyn just in time to get her out of the way as the car sped by.
Eve are mad?! Caroline yelled. Didn't you see the car coming towards you? You could have been killed for goodness sake, Caroline yelled in anger.
Caroline I saw him, I heard his voice. He was calling out to me Caro. Evelyn sobbed repeatedly.
Caroline stared at Evelyn in astonishment. Eve you are simply unbelievable. Here I am reprimanding you for being careless and almost getting yourself killed and here you are telling me you saw and heard Ethan. Ethan is dead Eve and you are going to have to face that fact and move on. If not for your self then do so for Emma.
Evelyn fell to her knees and cried uncontrollably. She cried hard while repeatedly cursing her fate.
Why?! Why did it have to be me? Why did the world have to take my Ethan away from me? What did I do wrong? Evelyn complained bitterly in between sobs.

After a while, Caroline took Evelyn home. Upon arrival at Evelyn's house, they were met with the members of the were pack. There were five people present at Evelyn's house, Ophelia , Zacheus, Mark, Andrea and Louis. Zacheus was the beta of the pack while the rest of them were just memebers of the council. All but Ophelia who was a gamma.
They all settled in the living room while Zacheus proceeded to speak,
Evelyn, Caroline I'm sure you both know why we are here. It's been three days since the death of the Alpha's husband(Evelyn) and according to the tradition of the pack, anyone who is a member of the council or is related to the pack in anyway has to be moonset unfortunately Ethan wasn't a member of the pack and therefore can't be moonset.Its been three days since the death of the alpha's husband and a special ritual is to be held for him to be laid to rest.

What?! No. We aren't hosting a ritual of any sort for my husband . Evelyn retorted . My Ethan is not dead so how can there be a ritual for someone who isn't even dead. No way nothing of that sort is going happen.Evelyn stated.
Eve calm down, said Caroline trying to calm the distraught Evelyn. Eve , Ethan is gone and if you want his soul to rest in peace you are going to have to do this.
No Caro,Ethan is not dead. How can a ritual be carried out on someone who isn't even dead, Caro my husband isn't dead, Evelyn responded im between sobs.
Make the preparations for the ritual,I'll convince her to get it done,Caro assured Zacheus.
Good! Because a pier has already been built in his honour.

. A few hours later,
At the burial ground , everyone gathered around Ethan's burning corpse to pay their respects as per traditions of the pack. The were pack had a unique tradition where a moonset is held in respect of a deceased member. A moonset is a ritual where the deceased member of the pack is buried in a sacred forest glade. The body is wrapped in a wolf pelt and the pack gathers in a moonlit ceremony, they howl in mourning as the Alpha leads a ritual to release the spirit. The grave is marked with a wooden totem symbolizing the deceased spirit wolf. In Ethan's case he was neither a wolf nor a member of the pack and can't be buried in the sacred glade. However a special ritual would be performed in his honor after which his ashes would be scattered in a river that flows into the forest.
Evelyn was watching her husband's burning pier with tears filled eyes along side her daughter Emma. Evelyn wept alongside her daughter Emma as they proceeded to pay their final respects to Ethan while scattering his ashes in the river. She watched as the ashes flowed away with the water and in that moment made a silent vow to avenge the death of her husband.
