Morning
The first ray of dawn slipped quietly through the tall bedroom windows, spilling soft golden light across the room.
Dylan woke slowly.
For a moment he did not move. The night had left his body heavy with exhaustion, but something warm and fragile resting against his chest kept him perfectly still.
Lena.
She was asleep in his arms, her breathing slow and steady, her face peaceful in the pale morning light. A few loose strands of her hair had fallen across her cheek, glowing faintly under the sun's early glow.
Dylan watched her carefully.
Last night's terror flickered through his mind like a shadow he could not shake away. The blood, the wounds, the trembling whispers in her dreams.
Six muddy feet. She saw six big feet, but he didn't see them. They were three in numbers, ans only Lena could hear or see them.
Hands hurting her. Their dirty hands has been hurting her when he was running down stairs.
His chest tightened again.
