No one knew how much courage it took for Victor Morgan to let Vera get off the helicopter, and then, as she had demanded, order everyone to pull back.
Victor Morgan had gone to great lengths just to find Vera. To now have to personally order his people away... one could only imagine his state of mind.
But Victor Morgan had no other choice. He wanted to put Vera's mind at ease and end this as quickly as possible. Besides, he knew all too well that pushing things further would only lead to the same outcome.
"Vera, this is the first and last time I'm letting you go. From now on, no matter the reason, I will never let you go again. You remember that."
"I don't think there will be a next time. I can't stand that vile man any longer. Victor, we need to find a way to deal with him."
Victor Morgan was relieved to hear Vera bring it up herself. 'She must be completely disillusioned to have finally made this decision,' he thought.
