The Vera of the past had been overly serious. She rarely joked around, let alone actively teased someone like this. Victor found this new side of her refreshing and interesting.
"My Vera has gotten so much livelier. Always teasing people now."
Vera laughed. "Isn't this better? It adds a bit of fun to life. I was too serious in the past, so I want to try and change."
"That's a great change. A person can't stay the same forever. I love you like this."
Vera immediately turned to look at Victor, but before she could say a word, he had already planted a quick kiss on her cheek and spoke.
"Of course, I loved the way you were before, too. No matter what you're like, I'll always love you."
Vera was the one who was amused now. 'His survival instinct is so strong.' He had completely seen through her, and they both couldn't help but laugh.
That night, Victor insisted Vera rest with him on the hospital bed, since she never slept well on the sofa.
