Sylvia Schuyler was taken aback when she heard this. She then shook her head, placing all the blame on Luna Warner.
"This has nothing to do with me. Luna did it. She's the one who knocked me out."
This truly shocked Vera Warner. She had been wondering who could have possibly laid a hand on someone who always acted so weak and delicate in public. So it turned out to be Luna.
"Then why were you two fighting?"
"I did tell her some things about you in the past, but I never expected her to tell Gordon Morgan and his wife. I told her not to say anything, but we got into an argument, and she attacked me. I was already injured, so how could I be a match for her? And that's how I ended up like this."
As she spoke, Sylvia even managed to squeeze out a couple of tears.
'In truth, Vera didn't completely believe her. At most, she figured it was a case of dog-eat-dog.'
