In the car,
Sydney Sawyer was on the phone with Jane Spencer, letting her know she was okay. Learning that Edwin Sawyer had only suffered from high blood pressure was a relief. Jane told her to stay in Keston for a couple more days to be with Edwin before returning to Aethelgard, since it would be inconvenient to travel back and forth once she was settled there.
Donovan Sheridan was now sitting in the front passenger seat, where Chester Sawyer had been before.
He kept sneaking glances at Ryder Sharp out of the corner of his eye, his scalp tingling. He was on pins and needles.
"Shaw," Ryder Sharp said, his voice cold.
"What?"
"Is your ass itching?"
Donovan Sheridan gave a sheepish laugh. "Right, Sharp, I heard you and Mr. Sharp went to Meridia to pick up your sister. How did you end up coming back with them? Could it be..."
As he spoke, Donovan turned to look at Sydney Sawyer in the back. "Is the woman Mr. Sharp is remarrying your mother?"
