Zahrah's POV
After the Shahadah, joining of the husband and wife together and exchanging of ring, which was the main point of a Nikkah, to join both couples and afterwards enjoy yourself with your family.
"Zayd come, let me show you to everybody", I said to my husband and dragged him by his arm without waiting for his reply, as I was overjoyed. I took him over to my mum first. "Mum, here is Zayd. I know you've met him a lot of times, I just wanted you to see him again." I said to her still holding unto his arm.
"So I see you've experienced my daughter's overjoy." Mum said with happiness written all over her face.
"Yes, I guess I'm a victim." Zayd replied and I nudged him playfully.
"Happy married life to you both." Mum congratulated us both.
"Thank you Mum." We both said in unison. Surprised? We're both married now, which automatically makes my family his and his mine. Zayd said his family could not make it, so they weren't here right now.
"Come on let me show you to my brother, he's been dying to meet you." I said as I dragged him to my brother, Yuusuf. They couldn't meet all these while because Yuusuf had been busy with school.
"So Zayd, this is my brother, Yuusuf. You haven't been able to see him because of school." I informed Zayd as he put out his hand for a shake.
"Nice to meet, I've heard a lot about you. Do make sure you take care of my sister." Yuusuf said to him, referring to me like I was younger. The forever most annoying brother. I rolled my eyes.
"You talk as if you're older than me." I whined as he laughed.
"Zaydah has arrived, she's been looking for you." He stated exactly what I've been wanting to hear.
"Where is she?" I questioned him.
"Right over there." Yuusuf said pointing towards our back, where Zaydah stood taking a juice by the fruit stand.
"Come on." I said to Zayd and dragged him not giving space to protest.
"Zaydah." I called her attention on getting closer as she looked lost.
"Hi." Zaydah said to me but eyes focused on Zayd.
"This is…." I was about to introduce my husband to her as she has never met him before but she interrupted me.
"Hey Zayd." She said, her gaze not leaving his. I felt tension rise, but I chose to ignore it as I couldn't give a good excuse for it.
I had this tugging feeling that they knew each other before from somewhere, but I chose to ignore it, I mean who wouldn't. Everyone present should definitely know the names of both the bride and groom.
"Hello." Zayd replied not lowering his gaze.
"So, this is my cousin, Zaydah." I said introducing her to Zayd.
"Congratulations to you both." Zaydah said to us, then concentrated her gaze towards Zayd, "Zayd, do take good care of my cousin, I don't want her getting hurt, she's very important to me." I smiled at Zaydah's words.
The tension was threatening to resurface.
"Why does everyone treats me like a little girl." I whined.
"Yes, I will." Zayd replied looking everywhere but Zaydah, like he was avoiding direct eye-contact.
"Well, I will be taking my leave, I have things to do." Zaydah stated as she focuses her attention on me and with a smile, she does.
"Wait, hold up!" I said as I let go of Zayd and ran to Zaydah, I knew this would happen, coming late and then leaving as fast as possible.
"I'm sorry Zahrah, I can't, and I have things to do." She said her looking everywhere but me. I worried for her, but if I asked I knew she wouldn't reply.
"Ok, stay and eat some cake, hmm." I tried convincing her. "And keep for Zayn." I guess that's why people treat me like a little girl.
She looked at me and rolled her eyes, "you're so stubborn, aren't you?" she said as I cut her and Zayn's share from the cake.
"I learnt it from the best, didn't I?" I chuckled at her and handed the cake to her, giving her the permission to leave, she smiled at me and didn't waste a second more.
I had to even if I didn't want to, I understand all that she's going through, especially as a single mother.
