DIANA'S POV
The forest blurred with the rain misting, and just enough sharp blades of moonlight selectively slipping through the trees lightened my way. I didn't know where to go. Yet, it is clear to me that I have to endure the pain in my leg, and the unbearable cold wrapping my body. At every limp step I take, I could hear Lucas screaming my name, telling me to run as fast as I could. I didn't know which one is scarier, the growls of the monster, or the dark path that I'm forcing myself into.
Hobbling through the woods, I didn't mind the branches clawing my arms and tearing my dress. They were hands pulling me back, slowing me down. Dragging my self out, I slipped on a slope of a hilltop that I failed to see, then I climbed up the high ground with much difficulty. The dirt didn't bothered me anymore, and the cold was out of my concern. The fight for my life is on the line, as my despair leads me with no direction. Looking ahead, I finally found a trail where I can freely run in.
How can I win over a monster, when I can barely escape a human attack?Even the wolves couldn't stand a chance fighting this lycan.
Staring at the blue-purple flowers on my hand and with he silver dagger on my thigh, maybe I have everything with me to at least make a good fight. I'm Scott's Luna for a reason. That was enough to rally my spirits. Dragging my aching leg, I stumbled on a slob that sucks my feet. Struggling, I couldn't lift my feet up. I put down the flowers and removed my shoelaces in a hurry as my fingers tremble. I crawled, leaving my shoes so I could escape to somewhere else than here.
Breathing heavily through my mouth, I shuffled barefooted in the forest under the blood moon that seemed to follow me wherever I go. The leaves started to rustle so hard as the strong winds blow. I stopped, and left my mouth open. Looking around, is this déja vu? I can feel my heart pound from fear as I start to run unevenly on the cold wet ground not knowing where my bare feet leads me. This very same thing happened in my dream. Then, the most terrifying part happened. I heard a deafening howl that sent all my hair raising. This is the part of my dream where I should wake up, because what will happen next is very ugly.
The only problem is... this is not a dream!
I noticed a large entity swiftly moved across me. I paused, and swallowed hard and keep my lips together tightly to seal my screams as I back away slowly. Is this the end of Diana Clair Woodsworth? I've always thought that I will grow old until my hair turns grey. Watching my grandchildren sing and dance before me while I rock myself on a chair. Laying on a warm bed beside the love of my life till my last breath.
I walked away, until my back bumped on a tree. Feeling my blood drip down my leg, I wiped it with my hand and stared at it hissing. Then, an unimaginable thought came to my mind. Will the lycan calm down with a taste of my magical blood? I looked at my moon phase watch, three more minutes until the moon shifts. Three more minutes of terror, three more minutes until it all ends.
Oh wait.. WHERE'S MY FLOWERS?!
Remembering where I left them, I carefully walked towards the slob behind the trees. Every tree suddenly looked the same in the dark, making it more difficult to track where I came from. Then, a mysterious black bird flew in circles over me before it perched in between two tall trees. It flew to me, then back to the same spot where it first landed. Is the bird showing me the way?
Call me crazy but I followed the bird. It has to be here somewhere. It must be.
Surprisingly, I spotted my shoes resting on a slob. Spotted the flowers resting beside them, I heaved the deepest sigh there is. I scurried limply grabbing the stems of the blue-purple flowers and clutched it on my chest. Thank you, bird.
Now, what am I supposed to do with these?
Then, behind me something heavier moved. It was not crashing, nor clumsy... Slowly turning around, I heard crunches of twigs that wasn't coming from me. Shifting my gaze around, it blended in the shadows perfectly that I couldn't tell where is it. Then, a large shadow moved towards me. It was deliberate. Each step that it take, the bigger it gets. The clouds drifted, as it allow a beam of moonlight to slip through at the creature before me. Its pair of yellow eyes glared at me as it flash its sharp, pointed teeth and razor-edged claws that could haunt anyone's nightmares incessantly. It didn't had to howl, for the silence that it carried was worse to pour fear over me. The big bad wolf in the flesh.
A white spot on its forehead stood out on his long black fur. Just like Apollo and Scott's but not as friendly, I thought. I moved backwards holding my breath as it stalk me with watchful eyes. Slowly taking out my silver dagger, I held it up together with the blue-purple flowers. Mustering all my courage despite trembling all over, I stared directly at the eyes of the predator... waiting for it to make a deadly move.
Yet, something unbelievable happened.
The lycan lowered its face towards me, then started wincing and gasping, like it was allergic. I stared at the flowers and threw a stem on its face, and found myself bewildered at how he gasp even more. Taking this lucky chance, I ran unevenly away from the lycan. Away from the narrowing world to teeth and breath.
I know for a fact that I have no match for the speed and strength of this creature. With only one stem of blue-purple flowers left, do I get the chance to survive one more minute with the lycan? Halting at a cliff, I thought this is the end of me. Looking down, I saw a river racing fast. I waited at the edge of the cliff with a ridiculous plan. If I can't defeat it, maybe I'll die with it.
The snarling lycan then appeared, now angrier than ever. I stepped back a little, daring to jump if he strikes. I removed the cloth tied on my leg and held it with the stem of flowers. I clenched my fist and breathe deeply as I face my fear. Suddenly, I felt a tingling sensation and growing heat from inside my body. My skin started to feel tight, and my mouth salivated a bit more than usual. Maybe my body is reacting with the adrenaline running through my veins.
In no time, the lycan ran and pounced on me as I threw the last stem of the blue-purple flowers together with the piece of cloth drenched with my blood directly to its mouth. I crouched and slide down the cliff, holding the dagger up slicing its leg, tricking the lycan to jump off the cliff with me. I screamed from the excruciating pain when its sharp claw scratched my back.
Holding onto the wall rocks, I watched the lycan turn to its human form as he fall off. I was shocked to see his face as he disappear in the dark. I uncontrollably shed a tear as I pant heavily. I hope my eyes were deceiving me. Scaling the slope, I gathered all my strength to pull myself up. It has been a long night, and thankfully I survived.
A black bird hovered over me again, seemingly watching my way up. When I reached the top, a naked man whom I once saw in the tavern was startled when he heard me grunting. "Help me… please.. my.. hands are slipping", I stammered as I beg. The man squinted his eyes at me, before he looked around. I tried to hold on and waited for him to lend me a hand, yet, this man seemed unlikely to help me. "Nice piece", he took my silver dagger then stomped heavily on my hands until I lose my grip and fall into the deep abyss.
Damn.
