AUTHOR'S POV
Scott felt his entire body quiver both in extreme glee and solace. Such unfamiliar feeling was overwhelming, that no words came out of his mouth seeing Diana after hours of being away from her. He held Diana's small body tightly, closing his eyes snuffling her scent in long audible breaths. He caressed her bare back and felt her tunic ripped in the middle. He opened his eyes, and jolted at the mild scent of a nagua in her. Scott looked at Diana, then uncontrollably showered her face with kisses. "How are you?? Are you hurt??", he held her face and wiped her tears. He couldn't be more relieved seeing her after everything. "Where's Lucas?", he asked one after another.
Diana held Scott's hands on her cheeks, as she find a more profound reason to finally smile. Every part of Scott wrapped with rage and demeanor slowly vanished. However, Diana's much relieved facade wasn't enough to give him a good sense of comfort. "I'm fine now", she sighed, the tension leaving her shoulders. "Lucas ran about when a couple of townspeople came.. The-they wanted to kill me. I don't know why".
"You're safe with me now. The pack will take care of the people. Where does it hurt? I'm so sorry I wasn't there.. I didn't know what happened to me...", Scott frantically apologized as if his life depends on it, rubbing her shoulders as he move his eyes all over her body.
Diana placed her palms on his chest, with a certain reluctance that keep catching her tongue. But then again, she believed that Scott needed to hear the truth from her. "There's a… lycan that attacked us. It got Sebastian and the others. I ended up hurting my leg and back.", Diana muttered, scanning Scott's face if he remembers anything. Reading the lines on his forehead, and the vacant look in his eyes, she realized that Scott is clueless about everything. "I was able to escape but, there's some guy from the tavern who kicked me off the cliff.", Diana uttered lowly.
"What the fuck. ALARICK?", Scott bellowed. He have always known that Alarick is no good to him and his family. And now that he tried to kill his Luna, and even led the whole town with his evil dispensation to hurt her, he wouldn't want to be very much forgiving when he sees the elder.
"Elder Dolphus helped me.. and a.. a nagua just came to my aid too. It cured my back from the lycan's venom", she revealed.
"I'm here now. Honestly, I don't have a small hint of what happened. I didn't even know how I ended up on a riverside..", he explained fervently. "I'm sorry Diana if I failed to protect you again. I never thought you'd still want to see me knowing I wasn't there to protect you…" Scott rested his forehead on hers.
"I understand, really. Your brothers.. and your friends were there with me. And some guy, they call Roman", Diana serenely voiced.
And there it was. The name that he was anticipating to be mentioned. His lips twitched remembering all the things Roman did for Diana. "You won't be seeing him again anytime soon", Scott promised, as he kiss her forehead. "Wait Luna, where's the nagua now? How did you saw one?", Scott asked trying to divert the topic to hide his bitterness toward Roman.
"It just left minutes ago. I asked it to cure you and Sebastian. I think, it's been following me around and have been helping me when I needed a hand", Diana said, as she look down. "How's your leg?", she asked in a worried tone.
"It's getting better, love. Don't worry about me", Scott replied kissing her fingers.
"It doesn't look good. Why haven't it healed yet?", Diana asked, as she clasp his hands. Some thought gathered in Diana's mind, urging her to tell Scott. "Scott, I need to tell you something. The silver dagger that you gave me? I used it and..", before she could finish Scott cut her off.
"It doesn't matter, my love. I know you didn't do it on purpose", Scott said, thinking that she might have wrongfully wielded the dagger against him in the spur of the moment.
"No! Don't get me wrong… What I'm trying to say is that..", Diana tried to clear things out, when someone interrupted her again.
"What a touching reunion!", Adoff grinned as he arrive with a couple of wolfmen. They were told to track Scott as soon as he go out of the chalet for the person at the top of his list to look for will be the Luna."Thanks Alpha for leading the way for us.", he signaled his companions to seize Diana.
Scott placed Diana behind him as they approach."You better stop where you're standing. I won't hesitate to kill you all!", Scott threatened, as the wolfsmen stop immediately. They stepped back a little and waited for Adoff's orders.
"Alpha, this woman is bewitching you! We all saw that she spoke to a nagua moments ago! Lucas and the Black Creek wolf saw them too!!", Adoff exclaimed as he clench his fist. "Right Lucas??", he added, as Lucas appear from the side.
Scott gazed at Lucas, as he walk closer. "Sorry, I tried to swerve them away but, here we are".
"I don't fucking care why she talks to a nagua. Walk away now or there will be more blood", Scott dared, scowling at the wolfsmen closing in.
"Wake up Alpha!! That Luna doesn't even have a scent!! She summoned the beast that nearly killed us all!", Adoff exclaimed. "I don't dare become a corpse from the claws of a beast! Alarick and Stanley are right, we should kill the Luna for our salvation!", he grunted heavily in growing rage. "GET THE LUNA!", Adoff angrily ordered, as he shift to his wolf form followed by the other two other wolfsmen.
Lucas was about to shape shift when he was stopped by Scott. "Get the pack, I got this", he said, as he radiate his Alpha aura amongst the wolves. They immediately halted in place, writhing in pain. Scott thought that if an entire town of wolves is hunting his Luna, he'll need his pack to protect Diana.
"Are you sure?", Lucas asked as he take a glimpse at Scott's wounded leg. "I wouldn't want to see that bleed more".
"For a pack of omegas? I wouldn't even shed a sweat", Scott grunted. Lucas scoffed at his confidence as he hurriedly went off to fetch the pack. 'He's an Alpha, why would I worry?', Lucas thought.
Releasing his aura from the wolves, Scott gripped Diana's hand tightly as they stepped back a little. Securing his Luna near the banyan tree, he moved away to shape shift. He tightened his jaw, and clenched his fist. He felt the heat surging but, it kept on stuttering out. In a few seconds nothing happened. "Fuck", he softly uttered as his identity crack for not being able to turn. His balance betrayed him, as the wound now chooses his pace.
He looked down his leg, and gritted his teeth seeing how fleshly it has become. Clearly, it is nowhere healing close anytime soon. He thought, forcing his aura out earlier ripped his skin again. And for that, he can't use any more of that powerful commanding energy to control the wolves. Then, he turned to Diana, refusing to fail to protect his Luna. "Stay behind me".
Waking up to their senses, the three omega wolves growled cornering Scott and Diana. They didn't rush. They herd. They tested the Alpha, retreating and returning. Scott knew he can take them down one by one, but it may take him time if he wouldn't turn to his wolf form. Diana wondered why Scott haven't shape shift, but she never dared asked. She backed away towards the banyan tree, worried if Scott can defeat the three maddening wolves.
Scott charged one of the wolves as he break its legs and flip it away across the ground. Adoff attacked Scott almost biting his arm. However, Scott was able to grab its jaw pinning him to the ground. Another wolf attacked Diana as she hid inside the branches of the banyan tree. She took a long branch to poke the wolf out, avoiding to reach her. Seeing his Luna in a dangerous situation, Scott grew more exasperated breaking Adoff's jaw as he kick him away. He then attacked the wolf circling Diana, cracking its rib and tossing it a few meters from Diana.
Recuperating from the injuries, the three wolves circled the pair. Gritting his teeth, he hoped the pack would be arriving anytime soon. Suddenly, they heard a motorcycle roaring in the woods nearing them. Scott scoffed at the scent he whiffed as it approach. Roman banked his motorcycle in between the pair and the danger before them. His presence sent an immense aura taking down the wolves, as they all cower on the ground in fear. He then removed his helmet and fixed his gaze on Diana. "Need a lift, my Luna?", he asked, while Scott furiously darkened his eyes at the different predator preying for his Luna.
