Chapter 85 - Not a Fan of Motorcycles

DIANA'S POV

Roman is surely good at bikes. He skillfully navigated nature on two wheels with great twists and few spins. The ride alone was too exhilarating. Much more when he loses the wolves chasing us through the woods. There were moments, I wanted to jump off and just run barefoot. He was freaking out. Each time I loosen my grip on him, he would grab my hand, and squeeze my grasp. He did quite had a lot of random checks whether I'm doing alright. It comes in naturally, not too affectionate and not totally clingy. Perhaps, my cheek was pressed on his back too hard.. he thought I'm not going well in the back. Well, who wouldn't be? His motorbike never slowed down, until we reached the main road. And as we see a brighter path to freedom, I looked up the sky and saw a seascape of clouds, with lightning and thunder rumbling in anger. What an awful day to ride a bike, I thought.

Sighing in grief as I leave my heart back in the town, my stomach churned thinking of the man who's filling my thoughts. Leaving Scott behind, I closed my eyes with a hope of seeing him imminently while I grasp Roman's back tightly unknowingly. "Feeling okay back there?", he exclaimed, for the tenth time. I tapped his chest signaling, I'm okay.

I'm not a fan of motorcycles. I'd rather ride horses, trucks or helicopters, but not these type of wind chasers - especially with a man I hardly know. The speed make my body more tense, and the bumpy ride forces me to uncomfortably tug on Roman's body. It is troublesome, truly. Roman saved me a couple of times, indeed. However, with my first impression of him, and the way he claim me as his Luna, I feel inconveniently at ease in his presence.

Once again, we passed by the road roofed with rustling trees of different shades of green. I recognized this roadway early on, and the same feeling of familiarity struck me the same way it did the first time. My head started to hurt, and so I decided to focus on the beautiful scenery of nature instead. As expected, we move past the road with dead oak trees I thought I knew somewhere from my deepest memory. My heart fluttered seeing a familiar back of a man walking in. He was wearing an all white attire with black belt and black shoes, carrying a brown suitcase rapidly walking under the thundershowers. I tried to halt Roman but he just sped up ahead missing my chance to look at the man who seemed I personally know. He sped up some more until the man is out of my sight.

I'm wrong, I hoped.

We've been traveling too far and so long when I started to feel my legs cramp and my arms getting weary. I was about to lose grip when Roman slowed down his motorcycle to a stop. Just then, I noticed a pack of two red and two brown wolves standing on guard on our sides as they snarl head on.

"Unbelievable", I heard Roman hissed. Peeking, I shifted my gaze towards the direction that have caught their attention. To my surprise, I saw Calvin with four more other extremely pale men blocking the road. Removing my helmet, it was then I noticed their dead bloodshot eyes as he give me a devilish smile that made my skin shiver in fear."That's Calvin... What is he doing here?", I trembled.

"You know them, Luna?", Roman asked, turning his head back at me. "Well, even if they're your friends, I don't really like vampires. Hating them more, now that they seem to enjoy getting a suntan", his tone had a hint of exasperation, hidden at every gun of his motorcycle engine.

"He's an old friend, and I'm not particularly very fond of him too.", I answered. I stared at Calvin with his skin that seemed to look dull and cracking under the light. His long hair tucked on his back, his pair of bloody red eyes looked deadly, and his claws seemed sharper than a scalpel - a horrific sight I'd never want to see elsewhere alone. Though he could still stand under the broad daylight, my blood in him may have started to wear off. "Let's go back", I suggested.

Roman smirked, looking displeased with what I said. Turning away, he turned off the engine and kicked on the kickstand tilting his bike on a rest. "What do you want, pale face?", Roman yelled.

"Hand me my woman… and we'll spare your lives", Calvin said as he hissed.

"YOUR woman?! My Luna ain't going anywhere.", Roman scoffed. The wolves on both our sides moved closer the vampires growling and snarling as they drool so much saliva. "I never knew a wolf would be realistically captivating for bloodsuckers", Roman cringed.

"You say wolf!?", Calvin laughed cynically. "You must be out of your mind. How I hate having petty arguments with mutts. Diana, my dear, come here this instant please", Calvin took one step closer with his hand reaching to me.

"No, Calvin!", I hurriedly get off the bike, hiding in Roman's shadow.

"You heard the lady. Take one more step, and I won't promise you'll keep your head above your shoulders", Roman threatened to which Calvin did stop and glared at us.

"Let's have it your way then", in a blink of an eye Calvin disappeared subsequently with the other vampires. The wolves growled as they spread on the road, circling us. I looked around trying to find where the vampires might have been. While I fuel myself with agitation, Roman remained quiet. We waited for the inevitable. The wind blew our way, as the clouds run a shade on the long winding road that we're in.

In a few seconds, the vampires landed one by one behind every wolf. The vampires grabbed them from behind, as the wolves violently shook them off. It was claws versus fangs, a battle royal of incredible strength. Roman tugged me close... keeping me distant from the brawl. Suddenly, Calvin appeared beside us, grabbed Roman by his neck and tossed him across the dirt road. Fear caught up to my legs, as I lose control over them. Calvin was about to reach me, when Roman, already in his red wolf form, pounced on him, dragging him away from me.

I was in the middle of the battlefield, feeling useless. A damsel without anything to do but be saved. Everyone else is made for this, and I am not. I ran off the road, as the fine rocks bury on the soles of my feet, carrying no instincts of what can I do. Covering my ears and closing my eyes, I tried not to look at the view of bones cracking, and wolves shrieking. These wolves are no match with these kinds of creatures.

One brown wolf crashed in front of me, shielding me with his body. Then another dragged a vampire away before it could reach me. A different kind of hurt carved in my hurt. They were all willing give their lives all because of me. In a moment, I felt something brushed my neck, that I flinched at something that pricked my neck. It was something sharp that have dug deep in my skin. Like a reflex, I grabbed his wrist, leaned forward tossing him out. Calvin tumbled forward, and landed perfectly on his feet. "I didn't know you're this strong, Diana. I hope you have that similar strength in bed too", Calvin smiled showing his fangs, as he leap towards me.

Jumping midair, Roman bit Calvin's shoulder, almost cutting deep into his flesh. I walked backwards, catching my breath as I scratch my neck with my fingers. It was painfully itchy, that the hair on limbs seemed to rise. As I turn my gaze at Calvin, his eyes were focused on me while everything is chaos. He wasn't blinking. It didn't matter how much he dodges every pounce Roman made, but he just stared at me as if carrying a terrifying certainty that he is coming for me.

Gulping a lump in my throat, a red wolf went down near me, with a strangled snarl, pinned beneath a vampire's grip. Standing still suddenly felt worse than dying. And so, I threw rocks at the vampire as the wolf whimper in half rage and half pain. The vampire seemed unfazed with the rocks I threw, that his grip on the wolf just became tighter with his fingers dipping into its tough skin. Then, as I grab more of the sharpest and bigger rocks, I flinched when I accidentally touched a sharp tin wounding my fingertips. Then, a wicked thought came to my mind. Taking off Roman's leather jacket, I took the tin lid and sliced my arm luring the vampire away from the beaten red wolf using my blood. Finally, I got its attention.

And now.... what?
