Charlotte Allison was still on the way home when she received a call from Eason Chalmers.
"Charlotte, where are you? Are you free?" The sound on his end was blown away by the wind, making it hard to hear clearly.
"On my way home, I'm free," Charlotte replied.
"Do you want to come over and pamper your beloved car tonight?" Eason asked.
"Who did you set up a race with?" As soon as he pretended to ask, Charlotte knew Eason was planning a race that night and felt he might not win, thus asking her to come and help.
"Charlotte, you really know me too well. Here's the deal: not long ago at the track, some kid boasted that he's the god of the new generation of motorcycles, so I brought your Thorn out to show him that at best, he's the god of motorcycle lunatics."
At this point, Eason's words still carried a hint of arrogance.
