Even after receiving that direct hit, the 'Mad Boar' did not die directly. The explosion from the 'Fireball' could only knock it a few steps away.
It rolled on the ground to try to put out the fire on its body. I smirked. Instead of putting out the fire, it instead was scattering the fire.
Since the ground was littered with dry twigs and grasses, it didn't take long for the fire to scatter around it.
Noticing its effort did nothing to help, but instead was worsening its situation, it charged at me while wailing in pain.
"Gweeeekk!!"
My nonchalant face sighed. "Oi oi! So you want to take me down along with you. Sorry but that's not happening!"
I simply ran behind a tree. I used the tree as a cover. My real intention was to use it to hide my actions.
The tree trunk wasn't so big to hide my figure, but it was enough to confuse my enemy. The flaming 'Mad Boar' didn't hesitate to run over it. (Crack!) The 'Mad Boar' easily crushed it!
The tree broke and fell apart. However, I was no longer there. A second before it crashed on the tree, I leaped to my side.
I squinted my eyes.
My vision was groggy and I felt sluggish. This was not a new feeling to me. This feeling was the side effect when you're running out of mana. This thing was called 'Mana Dehydration'.
The only reason I'm still able to dodge and move as stable as normal was probably because of my experience. Besides, I was not the only one who was in a lethargic state right now. The same thing goes for that 'Mad Boar'.
After crashing into the tree, it slipped and slid to the ground after losing its balance. Its body was still on fire. I noticed its life force slowly slipping away due to that. It wasn't an ordinary fire. It was the effect of my 'Blazing' spell.
It increased the firepower of any fire-related attacks a little. But the additional burning effect on it was the scariest thing about it. That fire could not be lifted away so easily.
"Gweeerr…" The 'Mad Boar' could only groan in pain as it struggled to survive.
It tried to get up but slumped back bigtime to the ground.
Around it, and on the path where it trod just recently, fires could be seen starting up. 'Blazing' might be a low-tier spell only, but it was fierce. It could kill a higher rank enemy.
The 'Fireball' cost 20 points mana and the 'Blazing' cost 20 points mana as well, so at the moment, I have 10 points mana left.
However, it didn't take long before notifications appeared before me.
The mission didn't state to kill it. It only says defeat it. So even if the beast was still alive at the moment, it was not in the state to fight. With that, my mission concluded.
After accepting the first reward, light blue-green energy flew towards me. Then, it was absorbed by my body.
A system notification appeared after that.
It looks like I could also gain additional XP in combat. Not surprising though.
Next, I accepted the second reward.
A pouch containing the soulstones materialized in the air. I quickly caught it before it dropped to the ground.
"According to the idiot's memory, these soulstones can be also used to increase my mana capacity. It is also equivalent to money in this world. With this knowledge, I am certain that this world is familiar to me. No. Not just familiar. Because this world is no doubt my original world!"
"Another thing, based on that idiot's memory, I learned that only 5 years had passed since I passed away on this world. That is very surprising and hard to believe. If I count the years I've ventured into another world, I'm sure centuries have passed since my first reincarnation."
Could there be a difference in time flow? Well. That was the only possible explanation in this situation.
"Nonetheless, I don't have any good memories of that time. So I decided to forget anything related to it."
I looked above and muttered to myself. "Damn. Those gods… what are they up to for sending me back here?"
As of the moment, the Mad Boar was still wailing noisily.
"Well, even if I did nothing from this point, it will still die sooner or later…"
"But I guess it would be troublesome if another monster would suddenly show up because of its noise."
Unfortunately, the fire around did not last long and it did not proliferate more. I also noticed the fire on the boar was gradually disappearing.
"Hah~" I sighed.
I gathered some dry woods that were lying around, then I moved closer to the wailing boar. Now standing before it, I simply threw the dry woods on it to fuel the fire.
Toasting it alive? It wasn't a bad thing, so yes.
If someone were going to ask me if I feel pity for it, I would simply ask them back 'Do I need it?'.
To kill or be killed, those were the only choices I had. In all worlds I'd been to, it was the most common law in the wilds.
After fueling the fire, it didn't take long for the boar to be cooked completely. Helping myself, I pulled a piece of it and gobbled it.
I needed to ease my hunger. That was the only thing in my mind at that moment, I could not tell whether the taste was good or bad. But when you're hungry, any food tastes better.
After filling up my stomach till I could no longer swallow a piece of meat, I could feel my stamina and mana slowly regenerating.
I leaned my back on a tree and sat crossed legs beneath it.
There were two ways to increase a person's mana capacity in this world. It was through soulstone absorption and leveling up.
