The next morning...
Rune woke up feeling a chill across his skin. His eyes slowly fluttered open as he momentarily forgot where he was. His eyes focused on the rough surface of the rocky overhang while the sound of rain filled his ears.
'Oh right, I am in the mountains still...'
His night with Shiro had been enough to take his mind off of all that was troubling him. At least for a while. But now that he was awake, his mind once again focused on all that needed to be done.
Rune turned his head to the side, looking out into the surrounding greenery. The rain had let up a little but had not stop at all during the night, and he could also spy the glinting eyes of beasts continuing to watch him from among the trees.
'It does seem like it is going to let up any time soon. Not the rain or the beasts...'
A heavy sigh escaped his lips as he looked back up at the rocky overhang.
"What the matter?" a soft voice asked.
