"Ruby, are you okay?"
Christopher Moore's slightly anxious tone revealed his current worry. He was concerned that these ruthless beasts would do something dangerous to his Ruby.
Ruby Mercer flashed a bright smile, but it was accompanied by a sour undertone and gritted teeth in anger, "I'm okay! Miss Oakes is here to chat with me, and since I was bored, I kept her around."
Christopher Moore casually tousled Ruby Mercer's hair, "As long as you're okay, what did you talk about?"
Seeing Christopher Moore furious, Laura Oakes almost felt her heart leap out of her throat, fearfully thinking Ruby Mercer might complain to Christopher Moore.
When Ruby Mercer said she was fine, Laura felt a little at ease, but seeing Christopher's gentle demeanor towards Ruby, a surge of jealousy and discomfort arose inside her.
Silently cursing this shameless woman in her heart, she heard Ruby say,
"Chat about you. Miss Oakes offered me ten million to leave you."
