Chapter 112: Alter The Seal
"To be honest," said Yashiro calmly but his expression become serious "our clan leader has already prepared a sealing jutsu that can alter the original design of the Birdcage Seal."
The moment those words left his mouth, the atmosphere around them changed.
"Huh?"
Every Hyūga shinobi present froze in place, disbelief written clearly across their faces, not just that they also murmur in disbelief and everyone in the group can hardly believe it.
"Did you say alter the Birdcage Seal?" one of them asked for confirmation.
"Really?" another followed, his voice trembling.
"Yes," Yashiro replied with a smile. "I'm not lying about this."
Everyone become silent that if a pin drop they all could hear it, their mouth become wide. The Birdcage Seal was not just a Jutsu to protect the Hyuga Clan, it was a way to enslave the branch families, anyone who born later had been categorized as a non official slave for main family.
It had been going on for so long and they have gotten used to, put the sealing on the Hyūga branch family for generations. To even speak of altering it and making something new are something they never dare to dream of.
"Wait a minute," said Itsuki. "Did the alter design means, the seal would go away?"
"Nope, the alter version would remove the torturing part and also move the seal from forehead to on top of your head. So you don't need forehead protector to hide the birdcage seal."
They become happy after hearing not just it removed the torturing part but also would migrate the seal on other location, that means even if they didn't wear forehead protector no other civillian would know that they are from branch family.
"But," Yashiro continued, raising a hand, "there may be flaws."
That single word brought everyone back to reality.
"What do you mean by flaws?" Itsuki asked, her brows furrowed.
Yashiro took a breath before explaining. "This seal was developed based on a rumor."
"A rumor?" Itsuki repeated.
"Yes," Yashiro nodded. "We heard of a sealing technique that can restrain the eyes, punish the user when activated and completely disappear after the user death. So our clan leader designed this seal based on the previous info we received regarding birdcage seal."
The Hyūga shinobi. exchanged uneasy glances.
"The success rate of this modified seal is currently around fifty percent," Yashiro continued honestly. "However, there is no fatal risk involved. If we can study the original Birdcage Seal structure directly, I'm confident I can raise the success rate to eighty percent."
"And the downside?" someone asked quietly.
"The only thing that might go wrong," Yashiro said, "is that you would temporarily carry two seals at once. The new seal does not overwrite the original, it only added another sealing on the eyes. "
The hyuga shinobi who looked happier are now finally become silent again.
Then, unexpectedly one of their ninja raised his hand and stepped forward.
"Please," a voice said firmly. "Apply it to me."
All eyes turned to him.
Hamura, a member of the Hyūga branch family, stepped forward. His fists were clenched, but his gaze was serious that Yashiro knows he is not kidding.
"I'll do it," he repeated.
Yashiro looked at him carefully. "Are you sure about this? Once activated, there's no guarantee it will work as intended."
Hamura nodded without hesitation. "Yes. Please do it."
Yashiro exhaled slowly. "Very well."
He reached into his vest and took out a sealing scroll. Carefully unrolling it, he read through the instructions written by the clan leader, committing every detail to memory.
"Please remove your forehead protector," Yashiro said.
Hamura lifted his hand and removed it without hesitation, revealing the cursed Birdcage Seal etched into his forehead.
Every Hyuga ninja at this moment just looked at the seal, which had become familiar with them.
Yashiro leaned closer, studying the seal carefully. There were no written kanji, only complex patterns layered upon one another. After a moment, he took out a prepared paper seal inscribed with delicate markings and placed it directly over Hamura forehead.
"Stay still," Yashiro said.
Chakra surged.
The seal activated.
Hamura gasped softly because he can feel slighly pain and hot on his forehead, the heat from the forehead moved on top of his head.
A moment later, he can feel something is different with his head and eyes, lightness, freedom. It is something he never felt before.
As the chakra settled, Yashiro carefully peeled the paper away.
Every single Hyuga clan in this group erupted in shocked gasps.
The birdcage seal on Hamura forehead was gone.
"Hamura... your forehead!" one Hyūga shouted.
Hamura raised his hand instinctively, touching bare skin where the curse had once been but he felt nothing.
"Byakugan," he whispered.
His veins bulged as his dōjutsu activated and his breath caught.
The blind spot was gone, usually when he activated his byakugan there would be one blindspot behind him. This happen because of the birdcage seal that limit the power of his eyes.
His vision expanded into a full, uninterrupted sphere. Not only that, but the range had increased. He could see farther, clearer, sharper than ever before.
"I… I can see further than before," Hamura said in disbelief.
For the first time, their hope bloomed among the Hyūga branch family.
They now no longer need to act like a slave to a main family, the other hyuga come closer and take a look at the forehead and it is really gone.
"Don't worry this seal are not erasing the previous seal. It only alter it and even if you die, the seal would react the same like birdcage seal," said Yashiro, he explaining again the affect of the seal.
Hamura hugged him.
"Thank you.. Thank you Uzumaki Clan for developing this thing."
The other hyuga also followed and they also said the same thing, after that Yashiro gathered them and apply the same seal on them.
They all looked very happy.
"This all for war, with a new improved seal your byakugan can see even farther before," smiled Yashiro.
