Chapter 113: Sudden Attack
"If your clan leaders ask where the seal went," Uzumaki Yashiro said seriously, scanning each Hyūga member in front of him, "just tell them that the Uzumaki Clan member forcibly altered the seal. The new seal's core position is now located on the top of your head and please shave your forehead to proof it to them."
The Hyūga members exchanged glances, they understand that Uzumaki Clan are trying to shift the blame to them. For generations, the Birdcage Seal had been absolute control to a branch families, so by altering it would weaken the main family.
"…Understood," one of them finally said.
"Okay," the others nodded, though their expressions remained tense.
"But why are Uzumaki Clan are trying to take all the blame from our clan leader?" asked Itsuki.
"Because you guys are just branch families, while your clan leader would dealt with our clan leader," replied Yashiro. "So they would deal infront of Hokage and the main family would need to deal not just our clan leader but also the Hokage."
"Thank you," said the Hyuga shinobi.
"You must also explain the improvements," Yashiro added firmly. "Tell them the new seal removes the Byakugan blind spot, increases visual range, and also can give the same effect like birdcage seal, permanent eye destruction after death. The more they understand the benefits, the less trouble we'll have dealing with them later."
He crossed his arms, frowning slightly.
"Our clan leader don't want to waste time arguing with Hyuga elders while a war is happening."
A few Hyūga almost smiled at that. It sounded exactly like it was a simple thing but the sacrifice that the Uzumaki Clan has made are very big for them.
Before they could say anything, Yashiro feel a chakra signal from one of his sealing detection.
"The enemy is coming," Yashiro said surprising the other member. "They've triggered the outer detection seals."
"Byakugan." Their eyes are trying to locate the enemy and found an army are breaching the border.
"We're moving," Yashiro ordered. "Fall back to the camp and regroup with our forces.
---Kirigakure Shinobi POV---
The reason Kirigakure Shinobi had not attack Konoha Shinobi yet was simple, the reason because they wanted to tired Konoha before attacking them.
When they found out that the other village had attacked with full force, most likely they will send stronger shinobi on other border leaving the weakling here.
So they most likely won't meet Hokage, Elite Jonin commander and special combat unites here because they had already been deployed to help on the other border. Kumogakure and Iwagakure were perfect distractions, forcing Konoha to divide its strength.
So they waited a day until they decided to attack Konoha shinobi.
One full day passed as Kirigakure scouts moved silently through forests, mountains, and waterways, gathering information. They didn't have enough time to make sure that there was any elite jonin, their due time is only on 24 hours.
So they entered the barrier detection and crossing the border first.
"The medical team don't go forward and stay behind, divide it by 5 team," ordered Kirigakure Jonin commander.
"Yes sir," the squad filled with medical shinobi are splitting their forces into 5 squad. This would give a better protection for them, if one squad attacked by enemy they still have 4 more squad to heal their ninja.
"Use distraction," ordered Commander again.
10 Shinobi used Mist jutsu, this is not a natural mist but Chakra-infused mist.
If the one who fought with Kirigakure shinobi are from Uchiha Clan, they might lose their people until one of them awaken Sharingan. It even worse because firestyle are weak against waterstyle jutsu and sharingan can't properlu see the enemy due to the chakra noise because of the mist infused chakra.
That is why in the original story, Fugaku comrade were killed infront of him.
It was not until he awakened Mangekyou Sharingan that he managed to flip the table and kill all the other Kirigakure Shinobi.
But this time the one who fought with Kirigakure is not some random Uchiha but almost 1/2 Hyuga shinobi are deployed here. With the helps of 30 Uzumaki Shinobi, they can instantly track the enemy and countering them.
"Advance formation three," a Kirigakure commander murmured. "Silent kill priority and kill them one by one, eliminate their team as fast as possible. "
"Yes, Commander," answered them.
Dozens of Kirigakure shinobi spread out executing their mission. Their movements were fast and they don't need eyes to see what was infront of them, they had been trained to attack enemy in the mist so they are aware with their surrounding.
One Kirigakure sensor paused while touching the stone, kneeling beside damp soil.
"Barrier traces," he whispered. "Uzumaki clan sealing barrier?."
The commander frowned.
"Damn… they already know we're here," the Kirigakure commander cursed under his breath.
Kirigakure specialized in assassination, not brute force. They preferred slipping through defenses, striking silently, and eliminating targets before a proper battle could even begin. Direct confrontation was always their last option.
Far ahead, torchlights from the Konoha forward camp flickered faintly through the thick mist, their glow distorted by the chakra-infused fog.
The commander raised his hand sharply. "STOP."
Every shinobi halted instantly, eyes turning toward him, awaiting further orders. No one spoke. Even breathing became quieter.
"They already know we're here," he said in a low voice. "Split into twenty formations and use Water Release immediately."
"Yes, Commander."
At his command, the force split into twenty smaller teams, each quickly designating a temporary captain. Their coordination was flawless—years of training moving them like parts of a single organism.
Without hesitation, they launched their assault toward the Konoha post.
Water Release erupted silently from the ground, forming razor-sharp currents that sliced through defensive stakes, traps, and trip lines. Water blades surged forward, cutting through tents, supply crates, and empty watch posts.
But something felt wrong, it was too quiet and too empty.
Little did they know, the Konoha forces had already detected their arrival long ago. The camp had been evacuated in advance, leaving only decoy and false signals behind.
From hidden positions in the surrounding terrain, Konoha shinobi watched silently, waiting for the moment to close the trap.
And deep beneath the ground, Uzumaki sealing arrays began to activate.
