It is 10 in the evening. Sarah hurriedly walks in the dark alley of the street going back home from her work. Suddenly, a shadow came behind her and knocked her off the ground.
Raynier Zheng screamed so loudly that everyone in his house was startled. The door in his room was burst open by his mother who, worried by his sound.
"Son! What happened to you? Tell me if you have any problems."
"I'm fine mother. I can handle it on my-" He was interrupted by his mother.
"You're writing again! Son, stop that already and go out. Have fun with your friends." Mrs. Zheng ushered her son to go out of his room.
"But mom-" Mrs. Zheng glared at Raynier. He considered stopping talking rather than regretting it would cause him later.
"Alright. Wait a moment. Let me take my things inside my room first, mom."
Raynier asks the driver to drive him to the nearest shopping mall in the vicinity. 'I will just capture some pictures for my materials here.' That's what he thought as he entered the mall. After walking around taking photos, he entered a coffee shop to pass the time. He put on his headset and played with his phone.
Across the shop, he saw a girl with dark hair wearing a light blue pastel dress. 'Wow! Never thought that listening to mom would do you good things. She is so pretty.' His eyes gaze towards the girl who enters the clothing store. He waited for the girl to come out of the outlet when his phone rang...
"Hello Mr. Z. This call is from the Nero Publishing Company. I would like to check the status of your book, Night Shadow."
"It will be done soon after I finalize the ending of the story."
"Impressive! I am looking forward to your novel being published. In fact, I am a great fan of yours, Mr. Z."
"That's reassuring. Thank you."
After the phone call, he took his laptop and began to type the continuation of the story.
By the time he finished his novel, he sent it to his editor. Raynier realized that she missed the girl whom he had looked forward to seeing again when she came out of the clothing shop. 'I missed my chance.' He sighed as he packed his things into his bag when suddenly someone called his name.
"Looks like... if there isn't the nerdy Raynier here." A guy with haughty look said as he snickered around Raynier.
'I really hate this damn prick. To see his smug face full of arrogance, I reckon that this time I couldn't stop myself hitting his face.' Raynier thought as he forced a smile while holding back his annoyance.
"How unfortunate to meet a muscle-headed prick here. By the way, it's better to be a nerd. At least I have got brains, unlike someone out there who keeps on barking because he cannot think so well." As Raynier finished his statement, Ron was ready to launch his fist. He punches Raynier in his face and, as Ron wants to launch another one, Jace and Mason intervene.
"What the hell Ron?!! Can't you be civil even just for a moment?!" Stephanie cried out. "And you-" as she pointed out her fingers to Raynier. "You know that he doesn't use his brain and is always physical. However, you still taunt him."
Raynier wanted to argue yet he stopped when his gaze landed on the girl behind Stephanie. To avoid any more disputes, he took his bag to leave. While walking away from the coffee shop, he heard a voice calling out his name.
"Raynier! Raynier wait!"
He glanced back and saw a girl with dark hair running towards him. He can't believe it. He tried to pinch his hand as if this moment was just a dream. 'Ouch! I am not dreaming. Ryzielle is running after me. When she caught up with him, she panted heavily.
"You're going already... I mean, how is your face? He punched you really hard."
"No worries. I am fine." he answered with a smile.
"Let's go to the pharmacy and buy some cream for your face."
"Thank you for worrying about me but I'm really fi-"
"No, we need to put some medicine on it. Come on.
They found their way to a pharmacy store and bought some cream for his bruised face. The two of them have a little conversation as Ryzielle helps him to apply the medicine to his face.
"By the way, you said you wanted to become a journalist. To thank you, take this card. I hope that it will help you."
"There's no need for this kind of action."
"No, I insist."
"Alright. I'll take it. Thanks. I needed to head back to the coffee shop. They are still waiting for me over there."
"Sure. Go ahead and I will take my leave."
"See you on Monday." Ryzielle said as she waved her hand.
Raynier walks towards the exit waiting for his driver. On their way home...
