"Why?" Anna frowned, clearly dissatisfied with his answer.
Charles stared at the empty bowl on the table in front of him and spoke slowly, "For the past nine years, I've been constantly complaining in my heart. Why me? Why not someone else? I risked my life going out to sea, frantically searching for the Land of Light. Sometimes, I couldn't even tell if I was trying to find my way home or just trying to kill myself."
A trace of sadness flickered in Anna's eyes. She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear and gently leaned her soft body against Charles.
"But now, I've suddenly come to terms with it. There's no point in asking 'why' so much in this world. Whoever's turn it is, that's their fate."
Anna played with Charles's fingernails with her own slender fingers and said softly, "Since you've come to terms with it, why keep going? Why not settle down with me here in the Abyss-Sea? It wasn't easy for me to make up my mind, you know."
