TAP. TAP. TAP. Charles's fingers drummed lightly on the sea chart, his brow furrowed as he stared at the marked island's location.
This island wasn't far, forming a perfect equilateral triangle with Tianshui Island and Hope Island.
During the cruise, Charles could sense his crew was struggling with the oppressive atmosphere of the sea, their nerves stretched taut. He'd been away from the sea for three years, and so had his crew. Three years on land had left them rusty. The island being nearby at least offered a quick escape if something went wrong.
I hope there are clues on this island… Charles knew this was wishful thinking. In the Abyss-Sea, pleasant things were rare; despair was the norm.
CREAK. Lily burst into the Captain's Room with a band of her brightly colored followers. She was a fluorescent green today, clutching Charles's phone tightly in both hands.
"Mr. Charles, the mirror on your phone went black."
