It wasn't clear how much time had passed when Lily's worried voice arose beside Charles's ear, first muffled, then increasingly clear. "Mr. Charles, Mr. Charles, are you alright?! Please, don't scare me."
As his blurry consciousness reformed, Charles opened his eyes and found himself lying flat on the ground beneath a great tree. The crew was circled around him, watching anxiously.
"Look at my fingers. How many is this?" the Doctor asked sternly, waggling two fingers in front of Charles.
Struggling to sit up, Charles was about to say something when he suddenly froze. "What are we doing here?"
"Charles, didn't you say coming here would lift the God's Curse? Have you lost your memory?" the Doctor asked, perplexed, examining his captain's head.
"That's right, I remember now. I came here to lift the God's Curse," Charles said, slapping his head as he stood up. But the next second, he stiffened again.
