"Of course you do. You're the closest people I have," Charles said, wrapping his arm around Anna's slender waist.
"If that's the case, then why not just stay here with us and live a good life? What's the point in chasing death every day?" Anna asked, pressing herself against Charles's chest.
A hint of indecision flashed across Charles's face, but in the next instant, his expression hardened once more.
"The problem is, there's no way to live a good life in this damned place. As long as we're in the Abyss-Sea, I don't feel any sense of security at all.
"Even if we occupy an island now, there's still the risk of it sinking, not to mention the Gods in the sea. Have you forgotten what happened on British Island? What are we to Them, really? With those things around, can we really just forget everything and settle down?"
