SWISH~ West followed the other sailors, dragging a mop to clean the salty residue off the deck.
After finally finishing, he grabbed a head-sized iron oil can and began lubricating the anchor winch's cable. As a sailor, this was his job—it was also the reason the Captain had recruited him aboard the Narwhal. Although sailors were on the lowest rung of the ship's hierarchy, they were like screws in a machine: tiny, but absolutely indispensable.
He was quite satisfied with his work at the moment, especially the generous pay. Of course, it would be even better if they didn't have to explore extremely dangerous places.
SPLASH~ A dripping-wet figure suddenly flipped over the rail, startling West and the others.
Once he made out the figure's algae-like green hair, West let out a huge sigh of relief. "Second Officer, you scared me! I thought something had crawled up from the sea."
