As Charles hurriedly rushed out of the tree hollow, he saw the object that had set off the mouse alarm already being held at gunpoint by his crew.
It wasn't the roped figure they had encountered earlier, but a person made of sludge. Standing only 1.4 meters tall, it remained motionless, cradling a basketball-sized black mushroom in its arms.
"Captain, there's a living person inside the mud. I can smell the blood flowing through his vessels," Audric revealed his sharp fangs, licking them with his crimson tongue.
"A living person?" Charles flicked out Black Blade and gently scraped it against the mud-man, peeling off the dark ooze to reveal the pale body hidden underneath.
"Is this tree hollow your home?" Charles asked the strange fellow.
The mud-man stood motionless, completely ignoring him.
Charles snatched the mushroom from the man's hands and tossed it to a nearby mouse. "Taste this. See if it's edible."
