Atop the World Crown, a vast collection of modern residential buildings were arranged in neat rows. A visitor from the modern era would never suspect it was a simulated city.
Below the apartment buildings, storefronts had opened for business. Although the islanders couldn't read the square characters on the signs, they had been here long enough to know what each place sold.
The all-green sign was for a shop selling beef noodles. The one with a green circle containing a little man eating mung beans sold duck leg rice. And the sign with three large, yellow characters advertised chicken chunks over rice.
Although agriculture thrived on the World Crown, there was no livestock industry. As a result, meat dishes were considered luxury foods. The average islander couldn't afford them, only splurging on such delicacies for special occasions like a wedding.
Donna walked past these shops with a basket slung over her arm, a smile on her face as she headed home.
