Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: The Dress is Broken

Suddenly, a knock sounded at the door. Winter Kane immediately went to open it.

Rose Shaw was standing outside with Tony.

"Hey! Darling, it's me again, here to do your styling," Tony greeted Melody Monroe enthusiastically.

Melody Monroe quickly set the gown aside.

"Why haven't you changed yet?" Rose Shaw's gaze fell on the gown. "I picked this one out. It should fit you."

"I'll go change into it right now," Melody Monroe replied softly.

"I'm heading to the venue now. After the red carpet, someone will guide you to your assigned seat. I'll come find you when I'm free," Rose Shaw instructed.

"Okay."

Rose Shaw turned and left. Melody Monroe looked at the gown again. 'Looks like I have no choice but to wear it,' she thought.

After her styling was done, Melody Monroe went to change into the gown.

The moment she walked out, the three people in the room were stunned.

"Rose has amazing taste! No one but you could pull off this gown." Tony couldn't help but praise her. "So beautiful, darling. You're truly a gem."

Melody Monroe tugged at the gown's shoulder straps and asked Tony, looking troubled, "Tony, can you let my hair down?"

"Why would you want to let your hair down? How else can you show off the curve of your back and your long, swan-like neck? Darling, listen to me. Leave it like this. It's perfect!"

Melody Monroe was speechless.

"It's almost time. We should head to the venue," Talia Mercer said, glancing at the time.

Melody Monroe took a deep breath and nodded.

The venue was already packed with a dense crowd, with security guards lining both sides to maintain order.

Luxury cars pulled up one after another from the hotel, and celebrities stepped out, assisted by their aides.

"Raymond Ford, Raymond Ford, Raymond!"

"Skye Morgan! Skye Morgan!"

"Aya Winters! Aya Winters!"

"Hubby! Hubby, Zane Langdon! Zane Langdon!"

Wave after wave of shouts erupted, and the scene was on the verge of chaos!

Sitting in the car, Melody Monroe kept tugging at her dress. The cold feeling on her back was unsettling, making her feel as if she wasn't wearing anything at all.

Suddenly, she felt something strange. The dress, which had fit perfectly just a moment ago, now seemed loose.

"Talia, take a look, what's wrong with my dress?" Melody Monroe asked, lifting her arm.

"It's nothing, the zipper pull just came loose." Talia Mercer pulled the zipper up a bit.

Suddenly, the zipper pull broke right off, and the entire zipper came undone.

Melody Monroe quickly clutched her dress to hold it in place.

"The zipper pull broke!" Talia Mercer said, holding the broken piece and looking anxiously at Melody Monroe.

Melody Monroe took the broken zipper pull, a flicker of doubt in her eyes.

How could a high-end custom gown break so easily? But she had no time to dwell on it. She couldn't appear on the red carpet like this.

"What do we do? We're almost at the venue," Talia Mercer said, looking out the window with a worried expression. "Should we call Rose?"

"Rose is so busy, let's not bother her. We'll head back to the hotel first."

"But..."

"You go to the sixth floor first and see if there are any spare gowns. They should have a few extras for situations like this, just in case. If not, we'll figure something else out."

"Okay."

The car turned around and headed back to the hotel.

Melody Monroe clutched her dress as Talia Mercer followed closely behind. The two of them hurried to the elevators.

The elevator stopped on the sixth floor, and Talia Mercer immediately ran toward room 6011.

Melody Monroe's room was on the twentieth floor. As the elevator continued its ascent, the lights flickered, and the rising car abruptly stopped!

'What's going on?!'
