CHAPTER 1
Jun Xie watched incredulously as he fell to his death. "Motherfucker!" he yelled unwillingly. He had just finished a mission and wanted a peaceful place to smoke, so he climbed a rooftop at a hotel. How was he to know that a crazy woman would come here to catch an adulterous couple and accuse him of being on incubus that seduced her boyfriend into bending?
With her looks and personality, any guy that ends up with her will definitely turn gay okay!
As he lay there bleeding to death, his only regret was focusing too much on missions and not finding a lover. Now he was going to die a 25 year old virgin, and such a ridiculous death too!
Feeling his consciousness still somewhat intact, he blinked his eyes open and found himself in a white room. Everything was white, the walls, the floors, the ceiling and the double bed in the middle too, which he was lying on.
"If this is hell, it's very boring! Unless the goal is to drive me crazy with the monochrome scheme!" Jun Xie clicked his tongue as he sat up.
[Hello Host, I am System 003.] A disembodied voice rang out.
"Your mom! Who's there?" Jun Xie glanced around in alarm.
A ball of warm lilac light suddenly condensed in front of him. It moved closer to him and a voice emanated from it.
[It's me, I am system 003, the best system under the God System and I saved your life.]
Nothing was making sense to him.
"Who is the system? What is the God System? Where am I and why am I here?"
[The God System is the ruler of the System Universe. You are in my rest space and you are here because I chose you as my host to travel into the next world with.]
Jun Xie seemed to understand, yet not. He wondered where the System Universe was, was it within the Milky Way? Moreover, why was he chosen as a host in the first place and for what?
Seeming to have read his mind, System 003 set out to clear his doubts. The God System is actually chaos energy that gained sentience.
They then created the System Universe and the Systems working for them out of boredom. Any interesting soul according to the God System's criteria would be pulled into the System Universe and assigned a host. The Host and System could go into a world, the Host occupying the body of a random cannon fodder.
The Goal is for the Host to change the cannon fodder's life and live an exciting fulfilling life. The entertainment of that life is what the God System seeks to starve off their boredom. After understanding everything, Jun Xie was speechless. So someone created an entire universe because they were bored, what kind of logic is this!
"So all I have to do is live an exciting life and that's repayment for my second chance to live? What happens when that life ends?"
[Yes, you just have to live an interesting life. Afterwards, you can choose whether to continue to another life or go back to your universe's reincarnation cycle.]
"Okay and what about the protagonists and the plot?" Jun Xie asked.
[Host doesn't need to concern himself with that, you can do whatever you want without caring about the main leads and the plot.]
This was even better for Jun Xie, if he also had to take care of the protagonists he would quit right now.
System 003 explained that he would arrive at a point in time that would allow him to convincingly change the cannon fodder's character traits. There would be no OOC restrictions, but if he's going to kill someone it better be a justified death, otherwise indiscriminate killing is just a waste of lives that can be potentially entertaining to the God System.
Jun Xie felt his eye twitch in exasperation, but expecting a ball of chaotic energy that gained sentience to have socially acceptable human morals as unreasonable.
Despite being an assassin in his past life, Jun Xie only killed humans who have lost their humanity and committed atrocious acts. He was an assassin with a moral compass, however ridiculous that sounded.
"Alright, I'm ready to go."
[Preparing for transmission in 3, 2, 1... Transmission begun, 10%...30%... 50%...80%... transmission successful.]
That was the last thing Jun Xie heard before he lost consciousness.
