Loose stones and jagged edges replaced the firm path, and the trail narrowed as they neared a steep cliff overlooking a deep ravine.
Sensing the danger, Kyren sent Alex and Luke ahead to scout the route and assess its safety.
After some time, the two knights returned with grim expressions.
"It seems the terrain has changed since our last passage," Alex reported. "A large rockfall has blocked the path ahead. The carriage won't be able to get through."
Kyren stepped down from the carriage's threshold, his gaze sharpening as he listened, while Anna remained seated inside.
