SOFIE
I spent the rest of the day in anticipation of what Alec had to tell me. But more importantly, in the anticipation of what I had to tell him. This is big news. I don't know if Alec will be able to take it. Take being away from me. I spent the night tossing and turning around in my bed. This was eating me alive. In the morning, I got driven to school by Louis, my dad's chauffeur who I haven't been in the car with since I got my licence. He is a good guy. Its sad that I don't see him around more. I thanked him for the lift and headed to gym class. I love me a good stretch.
The gym was practically empty. I guess no one wanted to stretch first thing in the morning. Their loss. I got my morning exercise in and looked around to see if someone else came. I found Carrie while looking and flashed a smile at her. I love this girl. She makes life a lot more easier when she's with you. "Hey biyatch." Carrie yelled as she put her arm around me. "Hey darling. Up for some badminton?" "Shoot me if I ever say no." With that, me and Carrie started a friendly back and forth which quickly turned into a deadly match of beating a feather up. Needless to say, it wasn't in the best shape.
All my classes seemed to pass by like a breeze. Before I knew it, I was walking into the yard with my mind numb, not knowing what to expect. Well I did know what to expect, Alec standing there waiting for me, with God knows what to tell. Maybe he was moving away too and thought he needed to be extravagant about it. I would've appreciated it being low-key better. God what am I thinking? Breathe Sofie. I push the yard door open and a guidance of rose petals led me to Nathan? What? "Finally you're here." Nathan rolled his eyes. "Nathan what is this?" I asked slightly annoyed. I need to talk to Alec and whatever joke Nathan is pulling is not funny right now. "No questions beautiful, just get in the car." Is he kidding me? "Nathan Briar cut your crap. I am not entering your car. Where is Alec? I need to meet him." I was practically fuming. I know I overreacted. But when you have a lot on your plate, you don't care about what else you could fit on it. "Chill out Jeez. I'm taking you to Alec." I paused for a minute. "You sure?" I asked. "Never been surer." I could see sincerity in his eyes, which was not common. I decided to trust him and get in the car.
"Where are we going?" I looked out the window seeing a not so familiar scenario. "You'll see. Here put these on." Saying that, Nathan threw a blindfold at me. "Do I have to?" "Absolutely you do princess." I accepted my fate. Nathan was a good kid. He wouldn't get me into trouble. I put the blindfold on reluctantly wondering what the actual curb was going on. We drove for about 10 minutes before the car stopped. I was about to take my blindfold off when I heard a familiar voice. "Not so fast." I smiled as I realised it was Alec. "Hey, what's up with this?" I asked as he opened the door. "You'll see." Alec held my hand and let me out of the car. Nathan followed and added a quick, "I told you I'd get you to him." As we were walking, I could smell a hint of Cherry Blossoms. "Are those Cherry Blossoms?" I asked. "Uhhhhhhh" Alec sounded nervous. He took my blindfold off and we were under a huge Cherry Blossom tree. I stood there in awe. I looked around and realised we were at Carrie's family park. To my right, a beautiful lake with reflections of the Blossoms stared back at me. I absolutely love this place. Carrie must've been in on this. How could she hide it from me? "What are we doing here?" I asked with a big smile on my face. "I have a surprise for you." Alec replied nervously. "Really? What is it?" Curiosity intrigued me despite the big news I needed to address. I can tell him after this. Nathan clapped and yelled, "Boys, action." Suddenly, the instrumental to perfect by Ed Sheeran started playing. Alec pulled a bouquet of gorgeous pink roses out from his back and knelt to the ground. "Sofie Waves, I have a very important question to ask you." I was both flattered and confused. "What is it?" "Look up." Immediately as I looked, a plane flew by with a banner. It said, "Will you go to prom with me?" Amazed would be an understatement to describe what I was feeling at this moment. I didn't know what to make out of this. Alec looked at me with hopeful eyes and I decided to drop the rationalisation of it. There's nothing wrong with going to prom with your best friend. Right? "So?" Nathan and the others urged. "Yes! Of course I will!" "Really?" Alec springed with joy, his previous nervousness gone. I laughed. "Yes, really." Alec got up and hugged me. The guys started cheering around us. These kids are so energetic. "I'll make it worth it I promise." Alec rushed out. "I know you will." I pulled his cheeks and gave him a heartfelt smile. Alec beamed back. I loved seeing him happy. "Oh right you had something to say too right?" My heart dropped. I couldn't throw this at him right now. Not when he was this happy. "It was nothing. I just needed to tell you that I was getting a haircut?" A haircut? Seriously? Whatever, it'll do. "You want me to buy that Sof? Seriously, tell me what's up." I debated over it but still decided against telling Alec right now. "I'm being honest. That literally was it." Alec looked at me skeptically. But he knew when to not push. "Okay, but you tell me whenever you need to. I'm here." Alec reaffirmed. "Yes sir." I did a little pretend salute and we both laughed. Another day of carrying this burden with me.
