"So... why am I here?"
After breathing fire by accident in class, the whole school erupted into chaos, or so she thought. But everything was rather calm the next day, as if she hadn't just burned some of her classmate's hair. Even that classmate didn't think much of it, so she thought they were just being lenient to her or something. So when she was called to the Occult Research Club room, Ruri didn't think much of it either as she followed right behind a short white haired girl. Then when she arrives and went inside, she saw there was quite a small crowd inside the clubroom. It was the usual club members and Kousuke tagging along like he was part of them.
They left an empty spot on the couch, clearly it was meant for her so she sat there and immediately asked the reason they called for her. Her eyes fall onto the red haired girl, the President of this club and the one who specifically invited her here. As someone of the same sex, Ruri couldn't help but feel a bit envious of the stark difference between their assets. But she immediately shook the thought away. She still had years ahead of her, plenty of time to grow.
"Remember when the Student Council invite you to join them?"
"...Yeah?"
"Then you should know by now that you're not just an ordinary human, right?"
"I don't like where this is going," Ruri muttered, her sixth senses seems to have picked up something but the person herself were unable to comprehend it fully. Like seeing the math question from college for the first time and be stumped by it. You know how to count and do the rest of basic math, yet the questions were asking about Y and X.
"You may not know this yet, but the world actually has another side that's hidden from the average people. Like a drunkard seeing a flying figure but just assumed it was the alcohol, or that time when a sudden earthquake occurs despite the expert hadn't detected any earlier sign of it. Yes, these are all part of it." Rias slowly explained the supernatural side. Ruri could only widened her vertical slit eyes in surprise, everything she heard was news to her. That means everyone in this room were already in the knows. Then, the most shocking part comes up next.
"And I'm actually not a human at all. I am a pureblood devil from the Gremory Clan," after disclosing the truth, Rias flapped open her bat-like wings behind her back. Her peerage also begins revealing their actual races to Ruri, one by one starting from Kiba and ending up with Akeno, who sits just right next Kousuke. Obviously, her eyes drawn to her senior and expecting him to also showcasing some kind of racial trait that aren't human. But he simply shrugs his shoulders.
"I'm 100% human, and I will never forsake my humanity for strength. After all, I'm already the strongest~" He said proudly, his arm wrapped around Akeno's back and stop at her waist before pulling her closer to him. The sheer confident radiated from him turned the half-dragon speechless.
"Ignore him, he's a special case." Rias muttered begrudgingly. "Technically, you are a special case as well. We haven't heard of any similar case to you, at least not for hundred of years according to Gremory library."
"Did you hear that baby? Rias said I'm special grade sorcerer, should I bleach my hair and wear a blindfold tomorrow? Then I can call myself Satoru Gojo." he said amusedly. Akeno chuckles at his words, she knew exactly what he was referencing to. After all, it was inevitable that the half-fallen would eventually becomes a weeb herself in order to understand her close friend's hobby.
"Don't, you might become Satoru Go instead." She replied jokingly, her head resting against his shoulder. He laugh at her words, recalling the unlucky fate of that fictional character despite all the glazing throwing at him throughout the series. It was the most hyped fight, yet when the next chapter dropped—Kousuke sworn he felt countless hearts shattered when they saw jo laying on the ground. It was jarring to say the least.
There was even rumors circulating at the time, that the author actually wanted that character to die so badly because they ended up making him untouchable. Some fans even brings up a rather peculiar finding. There are way too many countermeasures build specifically against that character, such as Prison Realm, Inverted Spear of Heaven, and etc. If one didn't know better, they'd think he was an antagonist/villain character, not the literal teacher figure for the protagonist.
"Cough, as I was saying, we tends to keep the supernatural world away from the common folks in order to protect the innocent from harm. That's why you rarely see people talking about it despite so many of us blending amongst them." Rias continues. "Thus, we resort to the use of brainwashing magic to make them forget they ever see anything strange if they somehow got pulled into trouble."
"B-Brainwashing magic?! Like mind control stuff?!" Ruri voiced out her shock. She never thought something like that could exists in reality, it's just scary to think about.
"Yes, good old Men In Black's technique, and speaking of which," Kousuke suddenly pulled out a pen from his pocket, or at least something shaped similar to it. He didn't forget to put sunglasses to cover his eyes before turning to the slightly frightened girl with a grin.
"Wait a minute—"
Unfortunately, she was too late. Something sprang up from the pen shaped object at the press of a button, and then, a blinding light covered her vision completely. However, Ruri didn't feel like she was forgetting something as nothing feel out of place either. Then, she hesitantly opened her eyelids.
"?"
But what greeted her was boisterous laughter coming from Kousuke. He was slapping his thigh repeatedly while holding onto his stomach, as if trying to contain the laughter inside as best as he could, yet to no avail. The girl mechanically turned her head to Akeno who simply shook her head with a wry smile on her face.
"Sorry about him, he really loves pulling prank on people like that." She said apologetically. Ruri could only nod her head slowly, as if her mind still couldn't quite process what was going on. But then, something clicked in her mind and she finally realized she had been bamboozled.
"...You're really mean spirited, senior." She muttered resentfully, her cheeks reddened slightly from embarrassment.
