Slammed yet again on the ground, with various scratches and slashes on her body, the dark purple-haired girl covered her forehead with both hands and whimpered like a small wounded animal.
Her uniform was torn in various places, and there were many wounds on her pale white skin. However, the girl wasn't whimpering because of pain-
"No way, this saviour shall definitely burn you all to ashes!"
She lowered the palms that were covering her vision, raising her head with a fierce determination-
"Ugh-!?"
Watching countless zombies swarming her from all sides, the previously confident-bordering-on-arrogant girl froze.
Then, with a resolute expression that said 'I'm ready for death', she-
Turned tail and ran.
-She fled with all the strength her legs could produce-
Right through the haze of battle, her clairvoyance(chuuni vision) saw Adam standing a few steps to her side.
Her eyes lit up, and the panic on her face all but vanished. The girl opened her mouth-
"Hey, you! The outsider who has transcended honkai!"
She jabbed a finger at him, her legs propelling her body towards his direction
"Rescue this savior who has sealed her power, and you shall receive her grace!"
The girl then pointed at herself proudly with her thumb, chest puffed up in smugness and…confidence?
"Huh?"
As the dark purple-haired girl reached arms' reach under the silver-haired boy's blank stare, her expression changed yet again.
She looked back, and upon seeing a slightly faster zombie having already caught up with her, she-
"Waaaah!"
With an ear-piercing cry, she jumped straight towards him.
"....!"
The silver-haired boy's eyes widened in shock.
Never once did he think that this girl who appeared out of nowhere would suddenly run- much less jump towards him-!
"Save meeeee!"
As Adam hurriedly caught the girl, she screamed once again, tears welling up in her eyes as her body trembled.
"What the fuck-"
Tightening his grip on the girl, he jumped sideways, avoiding yet another attack.
Tack.
Right after his feet landed on the floor, Kiana appeared beside him, wacking the zombie that had just attacked him.
"Wow, I thought it'd be a 'hero saving the beauty'."
With a slight skip and a curve of her arm, another zombie fell. Yet even still, her gaze was fixed on him, filling with a playful light.
"Turns out…It's a 'Beauty falling into the protagonist's arms'."
The white-haired girl chuckled, looking back and forth between him and the trembling girl in his arms.
Adam's face darkened, lightly shaking the girl in his arms and placing his hands somewhere more convenient- one under her legs, and one under her upper back.
That's right- it was the legendary princess carry.

A faint pink glow settled over his legs, reinforcing and strengthening his speed. And with a light tap of his boots, his body rose in the air, avoiding the attacks of three separate zombies.
"Kiana, instead of teasing me, you should cover for our retreat!"
He landed steadily, his location now closer to the stairs.
"I really can't fight properly with this stupid girl in my arms!"
Adam backtracked, his body flexibly dodging and twisting while avoiding harm to the girl in his arms.
His body was wounded and lightly scratched in various places. However, a pink glow settled on these wounds instantly after, and the opening of his body quickly closed and knit themselves.
"!!!"
Upon hearing his words, the girl in his arms trembled even more, her head snapping up to glare at him fiercely.
"T-this savior isn't stupid!"
She gripped his neck tighter, her legs kicking lightly in frustration.
His arms trembled, having to readjust his grip in order for his momentum to remain unabated.
"..."
Adam frowned, giving a pointed stare towards the girl in his arms.
"I really can't call jumping into a warrior's arms during a life and death battle anything other than 'stupid'."
Standing in the front with her back towards them, the white-haired girl commented off-handedly as she covered and stalled for his retreat to the stairs
"T-this…"
Bashful and ashamed, the girl stuttered, tilting her head and avoiding his gaze.
Indeed, she realized her folly. The two were fighting for their lives, yet she jumped on one person's arms, making him unable to combat those zombies!
"You do have a point…"
She lowered her head, her pinkish-scarlet eyes dimming.
As he finally took a step onto the stairs, Adam nodded in approval. At least this silly girl admitted her mistake-
"But this savior knew you two could handle it!"
The girl once again raised her head, puffing her chest- which actually made her breast be almost on eye level with Adam.
"How did you even survive so long?"
While bashing yet another zombie, Kiana said to the girl in his arms as she stepped onto the stairs with him.
Due to its structure, not many zombies can chase after them at the same time. Not only are the two of them faster, but any strugglers can easily be taken care of.
-Until they reach a certain point, of course. There is little chance that these zombies would dare get closer to a Herrscher like them.
"With my magical powers, of course!"
Jumping lightly to walk up the stairs beside him, the white-haired girl raised an amused eyebrow at the dark purple-haired girl's reply.
Yes, yes, she had 'that' look. That overconfident- 'it's only natural'- type of look where the answer is seemingly so 'obvious'.
Even under both of their unamused stares, this so-called 'savior' still didn't look embarrassed
"You mean your magic of running away?"
The silver-haired boy deadpanned at the girl in his arms.
"E-err-"
As the girl stuttered, brain in overdrive thinking a good reply, Adam continued-
"Also, while I don't mind carrying a pretty girl in my arms-"
The dark purple-haired girl's face flushed at first-
"You should get down if you don't want all of us to die."
-But the moment he finished his sentence, she paled in fright. Trembling lightly, she hurriedly got down from his arms.
"That was unneeded."
The white-haired girl remarked dryly as the other girl followed behind them up the stairs with unsteady legs and a devastated expression.
"What's wrong with the prophesied savior getting special treatment?"
-Said girl mumbled sulkingly, pouting in defeat.
"What was that?"
Putting his hands in his pockets, the silver-haired boy tilted his head at the mumbling girl.
"N-nothing!"
The dark purple-haired girl's head shot up, body straightening stiffly
"You shouldn't tease a girl like that."
Kiana chuckled from the side. Though her words were chiding, the upward curl of her lips couldn't be hidden.
"Right?! Losing affection points with the savior is such a noob move!"
The dark purple-haired girl put her hands on her hips, raising her chin proudly.
"....."
The silver-haired boy tilted his head as he looked at the girl in front of him
"Is savior your name?" Adam stroked his chin in thought. "Or do you have an actual birth name that isn't so chuuni?"
"It's not chuuni if it's the truth!"
Said girl pouted at him. But since it felt like being stared down by a cat, he ignored her.
"Ugh…Fine!"
She stomped her foot on the ground
"Hear me, o outsider!" She raised her voice, head tilting even higher in pride, "My name is Houraiji Kyuusyou! Remember it well!"
The now named Kyuusyou stared at him with a smug expression, her eyes conveying a sense of 'Feel awed!'
"That must be a hard name to spell out…"
Kiana muttered from behind them, a small frown adorning her face.
Though she didn't seem as stupid as other Kianas, she still seemed to have some…difficulties.
In any other time, Adam might have agreed with her. However-
'Kyuusyou Houraiji….'
He froze, muttering that name inside his mind again and again.
'This suddenly makes more sense…'
Adam inwardly face-palmed. Indeed, this girl was known to be a chuuni- though she wasn't a fraud or a charlatan.
He wasn't scared or afraid. After all, this girl wasn't a super hidden boss that could darken at any time and destroy civilization.
However, the silver-haired boy was confused. He hadn't played GGZ- he had only read the wiki. But…was this girl's presence an indication that they were now in the 3rd and final cycle, 'reborn'?
It sure didn't feel like it….
'What a mystery….'
As Adam sank in thought, there was silence around him.
The three continued to walk upwards the stairs towards the rooftop. But no one spoke
….
Kiana was also deep in thought. Either thinking about this weird girl, or thinking of any hidden op moves she could do to survive facing the highest honkai energy concentration of this city.
-After all, on the rooftop was the center of the Eruption. And they were heading straight up there.
"..."
….
Kyuusyou was awkwardly fidgeting. After revealing her name, she expected these two to also introduce themselves. After all, according to social norms, this should be how it goes, right?
However, contrary to her expectations, they both turned silent and sank deep into thought….
Was her name that weird? Or was it just her previous behavior? Or….is it both???
She wanted to speak up- to say something, anything. However, nothing could come out.
Kyuusyou, despite her behavior, wasn't particularly sociable. Thus, she doesn't really know what to say to break this awkward silence.
….
And so, with three people each having different thoughts, they continued their journey towards the rooftop of this Academy.
