Chapter 177 - Herrscher of Thunder....DEJA VU!

As they reached the door of the rooftop, Adam turned around to face the dark purple-haired girl, and finally introduced himself:

"My name is Adam, and this is Kiana."

Their introductions came much later than expected. But now that they are about to face a BOSS, they are forced to do so.

"Indeed. Nice to meet you, Kyuusyou."

Kiana nodded after him, gently nodding towards the other girl.

"Nice to meet you guys!" Kyuusyou smiled brightly, head bobbing in place. "Is there an apostle of evil behind that door?"

She pondered, pointing towards the door behind Adam

"Though your description is dramatic, it's actually pretty accurate."

Adam nodded in affirmation.

Though Kyuusyou is being very chuuni, she isn't wrong. It's not wrong to call a Herrscher 'the Apostle of evil'.

The Will of Honkai of this world basically collapsed and assimilated an entire universe into itself, and now it's trying to invade other universes and do the same to them.

With that in mind, it's not wrong to call it Evil itself, and a Herrscher its Apostle.

…Of course, Angra Manyu will definitely protest to that. However, in terms of scale, it is quite outclassed, so its opinion doesn't matter.

"Oh, how so?"

Kiana looked at him in puzzlement, her eyebrows lightly raised.

She simply couldn't understand how this stupid girl's crazy mumblings were accurate. To her, everything that comes from this girl's mouth seems like a chuuni's delusional exaggerations.

"Adam…."

Before his potential reply could come out of his mouth, a soft shout of his name interrupted them both.

-It came from Kyuusyou

"Um…."

The dark purple-haired girl's eyes watered, her mouth pressed together trembly as she looked at him with a gaze of someone finally being understood.

That's right, she was moved!

Finally! Someone who didn't dismiss her thoughts as nonsense! Finally, someone who didn't instantly brand her as crazy and delusional!

"Ahem."

Seeing Kyuusyou's tearful expression and Kiana's interested yet amused eyes, Adam coughed.

"The other party has already noticed us. We have no time to chat!"

Turning around with a resolute expression, he opened the door of the rooftop.

"Yes! This savior shall banish all evil!"

The dark purple-haired girl's expression turned resolute as she stepped forward with him.

"You two…Leave it to me."

The white-haired girl herself shook her head, chuckling in exasperation as she contained her curiosity and stepped forward.

Adam gently opened the door-

Light pierced through everything.

For a split second, the world became crimson.

Then the brightness thinned, dissolving into a ruined rooftop.

Concrete lay split open in jagged fractures, and faint crimson sparks flickered around the place.

The academy's once pristine tiles were torn apart, sections uplifted. Steel railings bent outward, twisted, and half-melted. The wind howled through exposed beams, carrying the faint scent of ozone.

At the center of the devastation-

A girl stood casually.

Motionless.

The girl's long, dark purple hair cascaded down her back, strands lifting gently in the wind. Her shimmered faintly, the tips fading into a softer magenta hue.

Her eyes were a vivid crimson-violet, glowing faintly beneath half-lowered lashes.

She wore a torn black top that revealed pale skin marked with luminous violet patterns — thin, circuit-like lines spreading from her right shoulder and curling down her arm. The markings pulsed faintly, synchronized with the crackling energy gathering around her fingers.

Behind her floated six crystalline constructs — blade-like wings of translucent purple energy. Each wing was adorned with glowing circuitry, hovering in an orderly formation.

Fragments of broken stone levitated around her feet, suspended in a slow orbit.

The air around her distorted, faint arcs of violet lightning snapping and dissolving across her shoulders and along the floating wings.

She did not blink, she did not breathe, she did not move. She simply stood there, menacingly yet blankly staring at them- the intruders.

"So…." Kiana muttered under her breath, blue eyes narrowing. "That's the most dangerous manifestation of honkai…."

It was...just a girl. She seemed pitiable...Yet also very dangerous. Could this girl even control her actions, or was she merely just a puppet?

"O evil apostle crowned in false divinity!"

Kyuusyou stepped forward dramatically, cloak fluttering despite the lack of wind.

"Your reign ends here!"

She declared, pointing boldly at the girl. There was no apprehension or fear in her face- only a fierce and resolute determination

The purple-haired girl was simple-minded- she shall defeat all evil!

"...."

Adam said nothing.

Because the moment the rooftop door had opened-

The girl's eyes had shifted-

No, she wasn't staring at them as intruders; her gaze was solely fixed on him.

"....."

The opposing Herrscher said nothing. However, the floating wings tilted ever so slightly.

'I just can't catch a break…..'

Feeling the blank gaze that had locked into him with the precision and speed of a machine, the silver-haired boy muttered under his breath.

'Great Sage, activate [Syncronized Battle Mode].'

He's done playing around. With the restriction of using only honkai energy, he's not confident. There's assurance that he will survive, but not that he'll thrive.

[Affirmative!]

After an instant response from her, Adam's blue eyes turned golden.

A low hum began behind him.

At first, it sounded like distant church bells swallowed by static. Then space itself rippled- not torn, not shattered- but overwritten.

Green and pink 1s and 0s burst forth into reality, buzzing around and taking shape-

Behind the silver-haired boy, they reorganized and combined. In the end, a massive golden cross slowly materialized from the 1s and 0s

The Oath of Judah.

It was taller than him by half, its form ornate yet oppressive. The main body was forged in radiant gold, polished smooth, and engraved with intricate baroque patterns- curling filigree etched deep into its frame like sacred scripture carved in metal.

At the center of the cross rested a crimson gem the size of a clenched fist, glowing like a restrained sun. Around it, mechanical halos interlocked in a circular formation, faint inscriptions rotating along their rims.

With the appearance of this golden cross, the air grew heavy and oppressive.

The atmosphere felt stifled, and everybody present felt a suppressive force weighing them down.

"Isn't that-!?"

Kiana's eyes widened slightly.

She recognized this cross!

The memories of her father and mother talking about this specific cross were still vivid in her mind. They even showed young her a picture of it, saying how terrifying it was in her Aunt's hands.

But now, it has appeared in Adam's hands???

….

"Born of [Corruption], made real through [Reason], and manifested with [Sainthood]."

Adam's ice-cold voice echoed throughout the rooftop. He spread his hands, head raised as if embracing the sun.

"A fake is still a fake, however-"

He narrowed his eyes, the cross behind him buzzing.

"I declare: It's effective!"

With this announcement, the silver-haired boy's eyes flashed brightly, exuding a blinding golden light-

And the cross behind him opened. It revealed its mechanical insides, and from within, twelve golden lances sprouted into existence, launching towards the Herrscher of Thunder

"...."

The Herrscher's floating wings twitched, and with a coat of scarlet lightning, instantly launched themselves to meet the oncoming lances.

"Wowwwww!"

Seeing this scene, Kyuusyou's eyes lit up, a wide grin of pure excitement emerging on her face.

She didn't recognize this weapon, and she didn't know its abilities either.

However, using a cross as a weapon…It was not standard. Yet, from the oppressive feeling it exuded, and the sheer coolness that the silver-haired boy was giving off…

It was amazing!

She didn't care if it was actually effective! Just the style alone made her tremble in excitement!

….

"Come, Blasphemer!" She put her hands on her hips, puffing her cheeks in pride. "Be vanquished by my companion who traverses the boundary of life and death!"

Her clear shout reached everyone, yet no one actually acknowledged her words.

Clang

Clang

Clang

The moment the golden lances and the crystalized wings clashed in the air, Kiana snapped out of her daze.

She gripped her bat, reinforcing it with as much honkai energy as it could handle, and stomped her feet, launching herself towards the Herrscher.

[Great Sage: Synchronized Battle Mode engaged.]
