"So... You know now, hmm?" A voice that echoed off of one's mind. Envy's eyes tried to open, but all he'd see was a vacant darkness.
Swirling.
Spiraling.
Striking.
It was a dance between the lines as the King of Nihil laid before each and every crevice, his eyes peering around the black world. "What... what did I saw there?? Why do I have your memories?? You said-" Envy tried to speak up, hoping to get answers. Sozo merely blinked and had his mouth shut off.
"I know what I said. That you are my son. That you are a part of me as I am of you. What I didn't said, however... was that I meant it in a literal sense." Envy's eyes squinted, as if he was confused. The King of Nihil continued on. "When my body began to dissolve itself during the 'search', It melded my consciousness with it. The longer I lived, the more it festered. Voices that began to speak to me. Thoughts not like my own. At first, I tried to ignore them. I tried to push them past me. Those thoughts never quelled the longer I pretend they never existed. It was up until I met my wife when those thoughts brought its own life. It was like another being was inside of me. Another figure that wants to be just as free as I once was. I took it upon myself for extraction in Stoken."
A snap of fingers can be heard, as the eyes parted away, showcasing a vivid image of the hospital, a screen to depict the events of his surgical removal unfolding. Tubes and tanks set against the wall, vials that would house the needed anesthesia to help Sozo rest and let him ignore the procedure, as he is housed within a large vat connecting the tubes to the tanks. the Doctors and a few scientists would take notes and start the extraction, switches being hit as the King of Nihil was drained through and slithered across the pipes. It was like filtering water, where he'd pass through again and again in order to rid off any excess or wasted material. As the process kept going through such tubes, the one on the left began to dribble. Something was leaking out properly from the pipes, a set of eyes watching out, as it developed more and more. The scientists marveled at this discovery, jotting it down and squatting over, huddling the creature.
Few lights here, a scale there, they treated this new creation like a newborn, even coddling the creature and humming small tunes to ease the newly developed creature. In a way, it was, as it cooed whenever it was offered a small treat. It cried when it was no longer given attention. It whimpered and squeezed itself against any maternal figure that existed. Envy watched on as he'd see his own birth, not through normal means, but merely by splitting the King's body in two. Mitosis on a human scale. "When I was freed from your thoughts, life breathed into me anew. I didn't have much changed, since I still labored what was before, but now my mind is more clear. More open. More fresh. I didn't need to worry about those thoughts anymore. It felt like I was a new person. When you were 'born', I never really thought about giving you a name. I looked over to see the attention you were given, the chance of a life you can have. That was when I knew what to call you." He'd finish, as the eyes blinked and gave Envy his voice back. "Now, I'm sure you must have a lot of questions-"
"YEAH! MAYBE A COUPLE!!" Outraged. Furious. Envy couldn't believe what he saw, what he felt. He'd try to shake it out of his mind, but it all came back as soon as it left. Sozo's mind was akin to Envy's, so no amount of ignorance would ever remove the thought buried within his head. "So all this time, I'm just your copy!? Just you but without that pessimism!? You said I was a living thing! That I had a life! A purpose! An actual sense of IDENTITY! I can't believe that I was just your alternative self! I couldn't!! That's just... RIDICULOUS!" His voice was getting frantic, yet Sozo remained calm as he answered back.
"Yes. It is. My words still hold truth, do they not? You're still alive. You still have a purpose. You simply just gained that life in my mind, and thusly, are me."
"I am you... as you are Me."
"...I can't agree with that." Envy would panic as he'd look around, desperate for an exit. The eyes merely stared back at him as he'd try to flee from this infinite world of black mass. "I'm still ME. I'm still A PERSON! A THING! I'm not just some extra brain matter! You'll see! I-.... I...!!"
"You'll what? Whatever you're thinking next, I already know what is the answer. It's not gonna change."
"IT WILL!!" As Envy retaliated, trying to aim for a swing, shaking his head and facing his fears dead-on, he'd wind up his punch and increased the tar in order to attack back. As he does, however, he'd only wake himself, flying off from the cozy bed he was resting in and slamming himself into the floor. A bad dream, but also a chance to see why he gained his enemy's memories. He'd get himself up from the floor as he'd rushed across the halls, running into Tsukiya in the process, the tray of foods and liquids spilling all over, but was quick enough to snag and consume them all before such a mess was made. The Kitsune can't help but blink a bit, stunned at why he was so scared, but seeing him rush ahead meant that it was urgent. She'd follow after, just in case he needed someone to talk to.
They need to know. The kids at least need to know what he truly was... and what their next opponent may be.
