Chapter 655 - Chapter 655: The Violent Batter

Being let in, the children were amazed at seeing how their base looked, a whole chapel made from the flora and wood nearby, the twigs and fiber tied around to act as window panes. Chests upon chests filled with food and goods, showing that they were going to stock up as much as possible to get through with raw endurance. Such endurance was shown no better than the ship they were piloting, a cube-like spacecraft with hinges to extend out, letting them take whatever shape they wanted when soaring up to the sky and into the stars. Some parts even look detachable, if anything than to launch them out as smaller ships to get a further edge when reaching the finish line. For being such a brat, the kids had to admit that Germaine had a lot of good ideas when preparing for the tournament, though Solomon still had other thoughts. Looking over to see the guardians of the human-like hound, he would make a small inference that they must've been helping him with constructing the ship itself. No other adults seem to be here, and based on what he saw with his magic, or at least what he assumed to be, there was no way he was able to use it to make something this massive.

As the group settled in, they'd notice the names and the small pictures that were painted and planted at the walls. Pictures of colorful creatures, all of which having similar fur as the living puppet, albeit with exaggerated mouths or smaller eyes. A few adults seem to be around as well, carrying letters and numbers, as if they were teaching the creatures. In one of them, Germaine was drawn with Bonky, hugging the puppet as much as he can, after a small trip across the sea, with water dribbling down on what looked to be his head and arms. "What you punks looking at?" The boy ragged, having his bat cover their vision so he gets a look, dropping his aggression for a moment, a small smile on his face as he reminisced, before changing back to his usual tone. "What, that? Pssh. That's just an average day for me. Had to fend off a few sharks because of how bad the boat was built. Bonky would've been fish food had it not been for me!"

"You? Fending off Sharks? With that build?" Solomon asked, raising an eyebrow in disbelief, watching as the Batter gave a small snarl.

"OF COURSE WITH MY BUILD! You think a shark's gonna survive a bonk to the nose with this!? Hell no, not with what I'm packing!" He'd gesture to his bat, spinning it a bit, before it gets caught by Matt.

"Forgive him. He's had a bit of a rough month or so. Lycanthropy in his system means it makes it hard to really... express himself properly without sounding violent." The guardian proclaimed, despite the fact even Solomon's friends knew he was genuine in his words to defend himself. It did, however, pushed them back a bit, but it wasn't something Germaine was against, checking up on Bonky to ensure he wasn't too burnt, and letting his own friends gather some felt or a brush to fix it if visible. He held such a puppet close, almost as if he was his own line of family. Shady would peek over to see such a bond, looking back towards Solomon and was curious why the sudden spite now. "So, I take it you kids are doing your own ship? Did you came to visit here or?"

"Nah, we were just coming back after Pandora gave us some materials for our own thing. If anything, they came to us first." Stolas remarked, letting them see the shiny metal that they retrieved.

"Ohhhhh... Pandora, you say? I never thought those colored veterans were so willing to give away such goods like that. Maybe you can ask them the same thing, Germaine! Make some friends! Get better material to win more!"

"Pssh. As if." Germaine scoffed as he'd let Bonky back on his shoulder. "We got our own material here, anyway. They can have their alliance with those rainbow geeks. Team Sky's way more trus-"

"Is it because you're being raised by them?" Solomon's interruption caught daggers by the Batter, quickly seeing the flush raise on his face.

"SHUT UP! YOU DON'T KNOW THAT!"

"Do too! They got the whole golden eyes and everything from the other guy! What, is he not a member there, either?"

"Well if you know them already so much, how come YOU didn't pick their side to back you up? He already saved one of your members, it's only fair you return the favor on them, huh? What with the whole return trip being way more than what you nerds can handle, they can handle that stuff easily!" The two bickered amongst each other, but such wasn't something out of aggression. In a bizarre way, they were getting along with such animosity. Such hatred and vile words started to form as proper knowledge over the tourney, sharing what they know and taking the other's word. Stolas would be almost impressed at how quick they changed up, looking towards the Guardians to see them smile, to see them pat Germaine on his head and silently encourage him to keep up such generocity.

They were trying to better him, but why? He looked spoiled before, why bother entertaining a brat to better themselves if they're too stuck up for their own good?

Eventually, the conversation subsided as he'd see Solomon deciding to leave. "Yeah, I heard enough. Hope you crash and burn in last place, Pughead!" He'd taunt, as he'd let the other two follow along, looking back and seeing Germaine still keep up that snarky smile, even after being insulted.

"Double for you too, Oldie! If you somehow botch your own launch, we're gonna laugh it up ALL the way to the Sun! Here's hoping you can hear us from up there!" The Batter replied, his claws flipping him off as he'd take his bat and walk away, whistling as he does, his confidence as overwhelming as it was nauseous.
