Chapter 562 - Chapter 559

"Money makes the world go round? What does that mean?" Dahlia really was hearing this for the first time.

"Uhh..." Lucas froze. He said calmly, "It's hard to explain right now. You'll understand in the future."

"Oh." Dahlia pouted. That was so perfunctory. Or was it that Lord Lucas couldn't explain it himself?

"Clop, clop, clop..."

The carriage continued forward. Noisy sounds came from outside from time to time. Everyone was crowded onto the road, and the carriage's progress was very slow.

"Annie, as soon as we get back, immediately arrange for people to widen this road. Make it a two-way, eight-lane road," Lucas instructed, turning his head to the fox-eared girl.

The "lanes" he spoke of were calculated based on the size of a carriage, meaning one side needed to be wide enough for eight carriages to ride abreast. He decided to separate the left and right sides so it wouldn't get congested.

"Okay." Annie pulled her head back from the carriage window, took out her notepad, and started writing.

"Looks like we need to start building shops around the port, too." Lucas looked at the merchants outside carrying chests. He figured they must be filled with either goods or money.

"Clop, clop, clop..."

The carriage quickly overtook the crowd of people walking on foot. There were simply too many people, and Sedona City's rental carriages couldn't transport many of them.

"Pah~"

Scott and Kevin were two of those walking miserably. They watched the carriage recede into the distance, hating it so much their teeth itched. That carriage was very luxurious, which also let the two of them know who was sitting inside.

The last time they came to Sedona City, they were either locked in the "little dark room" or thrown into the mines to dig. So, even now, they still didn't know what the Lord of Sedona City looked like.

After walking for twenty minutes, they arrived outside Sedona City. Looking at the city wall, which was already a pile of rubble, everyone was dumbfounded.

"What happened? Wasn't there a city wall last time we came?" Scott said blankly. Now, as far as he could see, only a lone city gate remained.

"Those people look like they're dismantling the city wall," Kevin said, pointing at the people smashing the earthen wall not far away.

"Don't tell me they're rebuilding the city wall?" Scott frowned. He hadn't expected the Lord of Sedona City to be so bold as to tear down the wall just to rebuild it.

"Looks like the perfume has earned him a lot of coins," Kevin said coldly, a trace of greed flashing in his eyes. He was wondering if, after he got the perfume formula, he should secretly produce and sell it himself.

"Even the city wall is gone. If someone attacks, how do you think he'll resist the charge of iron cavalry?" The smile on Scott's face was sinister.

"Looks like today's mission won't be difficult." Kevin immediately understood Scott's meaning: they would use their power to intimidate and threaten the Lord of Sedona City into handing over the perfume formula.

"Let's go." Scott waved his hand and strode into the city, with Kevin following closely. Their quickened pace immediately caught the attention of Raymond and Patrick. After a moment's thought, they knew why the two were in such a hurry.

"Quick, follow them! We absolutely cannot let those two fools get ahead," Raymond immediately ordered his men to follow. He was afraid the Lord of Sedona City was a short-sighted person who would be bluffed by the Fourth Prince's men into handing over the perfume formula.

"Follow them." Patrick's expression was ugly. His thoughts coincided with Raymond's. His original idea was to plot for the perfume formula slowly, but the actions of the other two parties forced him to reveal himself.

The three parties hurried along, quickly leaving the main group behind. After entering Sedona City, although Raymond and Patrick were stunned by the city's cleanliness and orderly architecture, they had no time to stop and admire it for the sake of the perfume formula.

In the end, all three parties came to a stop in front of the castle gate. Everyone recognized who the others were.

"Hmph, I didn't expect the First Prince to send Viscount Raymond this time," Kevin said, looking coldly at this "skinny bamboo pole" Raymond.

"Viscount Patrick, the Second Prince even sent you. It looks like everyone has designs on the perfume," Scott said lightly. He knew the First and Second Princes would send people. Fortunately, his own quick move had forced both parties out into the open.

"Barbarians." Raymond held his head high, looking down his nose at them.

"I wonder if the Fourth Prince's vision is failing, to actually send you two," Patrick said sarcastically. He looked down on the Fourth Prince's men, believing that only the First Prince (and his subordinates) was a worthy opponent for the Second Prince.

"Everyone, please leave. The City Lord's manor entrance is not a market. It's not a place for you to bicker. If you want to argue, go somewhere else." The castle gate guard couldn't stand it anymore and, with a dark face, tried to drive them away.

"How bold!" Raymond was instantly displeased. He turned and snapped, "Do you know who I am? How dare you speak to me like that?"

"Oh? I don't know who you are, but if you keep acting so arrogant, you'll have to take a trip with me." Ayesha walked out of the manor carrying the Overlord Spear, glaring at Raymond. She looked ready to drag him to the "little dark room" at the slightest provocation.

"Ahem, hem..." When Scott and Kevin saw the ox-horned woman, they subconsciously retreated a few steps. The two of them knew just how ferocious this ox-tribe beastkin was.

"Uhh..." Raymond caught Kevin and Scott's movement out of the corner of his eye and awkwardly lowered his hand. As someone chosen by the First Prince to come to Sedona City, his intelligence was at least functional.

"Hmph, all of you, behave. This is the City Lord's castle. If you want to quarrel, go home and do it," Ayesha said coldly. She shouldered her Overlord Spear and left to patrol the streets. Many people had entered the city today, and she had to maintain order.

"You..." Raymond gritted his teeth, watching the ox-horned woman walk away. He happened to catch the slightly regretful expressions on Kevin and Scott's faces and knew he had been right not to cause a scene.

"My good man, please announce that the Second Prince's envoy, Patrick, requests an audience with the Lord of Sedona City," Patrick said gently to the guard.

"And me, the First Prince's envoy, Raymond!" Raymond shouted, his face dark.

"Scott and Kevin. We are the Fourth Prince's envoys, also requesting an audience with the Lord of Sedona City," Scott said coldly. Now it all depended on who was received first. That person would be the one qualified to get the perfume formula.

"Wait." The guard tossed out the word, turned, and ran into the castle. He was still a bit nervous. Envoys from three different princes were here to see the City Lord. This made the guard feel immense admiration for his Lord.
