"I should report this to my mother," Hyun-ah said, running a hand through her hair. "That man, it's hard to tell what is real and what is a trick. How can we fight such an enemy?"
"The real thing is worse. His barks can send fear through the hearts of even the bravest. And send a person to either Cianio, Badadon, or Abyssia itself."
I gulped.
Vadim whistled. "He sounds like a real piece of work."
Fortuna nodded. "Indeed. He's a hunter, and his prey is the soul itself."
"Wait, was he the one mentioned in the tablet?" Rashid asked as the barrier vanished around him, Raiki, and Noel.
Hyun-ah shook her head. "No, that was one of his actual Hounds, Surir. We managed to kill him, but not before he left a permanent mark on this land."
I frowned. So the Dog Pillar had tried to attack this place before. Given he lost one of his hounds, it made sense he would test the waters with a projection of himself.
Rashid gasped and jotted that down. "This is fascinating!"
