Amelia PoV
I snuggled against Vadim's chest after bathing and going to bed. It had been so long since we had shared a quiet moment like this. Tomorrow we would be busy leading our men to fight against the darkness. It wasn't the future I wanted, but if it meant a peaceful future for my children and future generations, then so be it.
My eyes began to droop, and Vadim began to stroke my hair as I drifted off.
As my consciousness began to fade, a presence began to form within me. She wasn't hostile, just watching and observing.
"Rest," she whispered to me. "The storm has yet to arrive, Amelia."
Mirei? Is that you? I thought.
"Yes. Do heed the words of your husband. Avoid using Eternity unless it is our only hope. Using it will put our soul at risk. I might sink into the same temporal abyss that the Time Keepers subjected Even to. But as I have a part of the Goddess of Light's essence, I should not turn into an abysmal... or worse."
