The dappled light from the street lamps fell on her face, giving her skin a translucent texture, as if she were some kind of hollow porcelain that would shatter with a touch.
Philip Shaw tapped his fingers on the car window, "Snap out of it."
Aldana Candi slowly retracted her gaze, not looking at him, only lowering her eyes and taking a light breath, as if she were very tired.
Philip Shaw asked, "What's wrong?"
"Have you ever thought about what I should do in the future?"
Philip Shaw frowned, "Why bring this up again, out of the blue?"
"You'll have a wife, children, a family, and I'll be old, unable to move properly. What should I do in the future? Have you ever considered it for me?"
