Cedric never took disciples...
He's too occupied with something else to be considered as a good and responsible teacher, so he never accepted anyone.
Besides, Cedric goes into seclusion for years at a time. It is very rare that he comes out within months, or even days for that matter. Raising a disciple is a commitment, one that Cedric didn't want to be entangled with any time soon.
However, this doesn't mean that Cedric wasn't helping his people to become stronger. As their Sector Lord, this was one of his responsibilities. The army he started out with, as strong and loyal as they are, weren't undying people, nor would they be in position forever.
To ensure the longevity of his territory, he had to plan for the future. Therefore, prosperity and riches alone wouldn't cut it. His people needed to be strong too.
