Nia Mitchell could hardly believe the news; she was visibly shocked.
She sat there, biting her lip and hesitating for a long time.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
If she had been told, Fiona Sutton wouldn't have had to keep it all to herself.
After all these years, Fiona had been treating Charles Northwood as nothing more than a buddy. How painful it must have been for her.
Just thinking about her silently enduring those hardships made Nia's emotions churn, leaving her at a loss for words.
Fiona shook her head. Some things can't be spoken about with just anyone.
"It's over. I no longer have feelings for him."
With that, Fiona broke into a smile, avoiding Nia's gaze.
Nia was left speechless; after all, she couldn't stop, or even get involved in, what had transpired.
Since Fiona insisted it was all over, Nia could only go along with it.
"If you really like Charles Northwood, you should still try. After all…"
