It was tuesday night, classes just having finished. Aizawa had announced the Sports Festival was in two weeks this morning and Izuku knew there was no time to waste. Before the class could disperse and head back to the dorms he made sure to let everyone know a dorm meeting would be taking place upon their arrival. This also made Izuku aware of another problem, there wasn't a way for the class to get into contact with each other quickly and that would need to be fixed.
Upon arriving at the dorms Izuku had everyone just find a spot in the room to get comfortable before he began. "Alright everyone you're probably wondering why I called this dorm meeting. There are a few reasons, first as the Sports Festival is in two weeks we have been given access to Gym Gamma, you need to submit a request 2 days prior and you may only reserve it for an hour at a time. Second, recent events have made it clear we need a group chat. Everyone write down your names and numbers on this sheet and pass it around." He pulled one out of his backpack and handed it to Momo. "Third and probably most important. I have been cleared to grant anyone who can take an extra quirk a second quirk to call their own. The first one up for grabs is Decay, I make my trips to Tartarus weekly and I will update what is available on the dorm whiteboard. Any questions?"
Nearly every hand in the room shot up at that but he saw Iida's first, so he pointed at the boy.
With hand chopping action. "Midoriya isn't that quirk extremely dangerous, do you not remember what happened to our classroom door. It still hasn't been fixed."
"My apologies Iida I forgot to mention that any request for a quirk must go through Aizawa-Sensei. I might be the one who can give them to you but i'm far from being the beacon of caution." He said rubbing the back of his head.
All but two hands went down those being Shinsou and Sero. Izuku pointed at Shinso to go first. "I want decay Midoriya, my quirk is fairly non physical so having one that is would be helpful."
Sero immediately cut in. "I want the quirk I have no ways to fight up close but with decay I will be able too."
Izuku could sense the impending battle. "Alright go take it up with Aizawa if he agrees then we'll find a way to determine who gets it. It'll honestly just probably end up being rock paper scissors though to be fair."
With that both boys ran off to find their teacher.
"Any other questions?" Izuku paused no response. "Alright adjourned, I left a stack of the forms to apply for Gym Gamma on the table over there."
Momo handed Izuku the sheet with all of the students numbers on it. "Thanks VP." He said while smiling at her, causing a blush before he went to sit down and make this group chat.

Izuku read that last message face palming, when he looked up he saw Momo giggling and Ashido just giving him the I'm watching you gesture. Deciding to give Ashido the slip he texted Momo.
Cinnamon Bun: Go to your room and open the door to the balcony. I'll meet you there ;)
Amazonian Warrior Goddess: Your jumping up the side of the building aren't you?
Cinnamon Bun: It's just the second floor it'll be fine I mean unless you want that following us
Momo looked up to see Mina was behind her trying to sneak a peek at her phone.
Amazonian Warrior Goddess: Fair point, see you in five?
Cinnamon Bun: You know it. It's not like I can sleep without you there to cuddle me anymore
Izuku stood up stretching. " Alright everyone i'm going to go for a run I'll see you all later." He walked out the door and waited expecting Ashido to follow him but was surprised when she didn't. Ah well that's just easier for me then. He walked over to where Momo's balcony was, getting directly below it before charging up Jetstream and Silencer before jumping up onto the balcony. When it slid open he saw a Momo staring at him with wide eyes.
"Miss me?" He gave her a quick peck on the cheek.
"Izu it's literally been 5 minutes, of course I missed you." She said as she casually picked him and threw him onto the bed.
"And you didn't like that name I gave you." He said smirking at her.
Blushing heavily. "I never said I didn't like it, I just don't want everyone else using it. Now shut up and lay down. I'm tired." She said as she nuzzled up to him."You remembered to reserve the gym for us right?"
"Of course Momo." He whispered into her ear.
"G-good." They drifted off quietly after that.
The next day Izuku woke with a familiar weight next to him and the slightly less familiar spam of his phone. He saw it was the group chat apparently having missed something like 15 messages.
Misdirection: So Sero and I went to talk to Aizawa about the quirk. He kinda just gave us a are you serious look before slamming the door in our face.
Cellophane: Yeah I think it's safe to say Decay is off the table, your going to get rid of it this Saturday right Midoriya?
Rocker Girl: Alright who told on us, me and Kaminari have detention until the end of the week for breaking curfew.
Pikachu: I swear it's like he knows everything, it's so creepy
Shouto Todoroki: That may have been me sorry, I didn't realize you could get in trouble for that and Aizawa asked me if I saw anything
Alien Queen: Okay maybe you could be a little less pure
Alien Queen: Seeing as these messages aren't being seen by Momo and Midori it's safe to say they are asleep, did you tattle on them as well?
Shouto Todoroki: Well I didn't see it personally so it didn't seem my place.

Izuku felt Momo shifting so he also got off the chat after clearing what he could up. "Hey we got like another hour to be ready and I have a feeling Ashido is waiting outside your door so I'm heading up to my floor the spy way." He gave her a kiss on the lips before walking outside and using a combination of super strength, Jetstream and Silence to quickly and more importantly quietly reach his room. Thankful for the three fingered gloves and the fact that he didn't need to lock the balcony of a 5th floor dorm room. He quietly walked in to get ready for class.
Hero Training that Afternoon
All Might paused before speaking. "Greetings you Zygotes, I bet you all are wondering what Hero Training today will be like? Well as i'm sure you all noticed that the final competition of the Sports Festival is some kind of 1v1 sparring, last year they used foam swords and quirks for example. Today will be exactly that, you will spend the whole class doing bracket style mono e mono fights, treat each of your foes like a real villain. The starting brackets will be randomized and demonstrate your ability to win a fight all your own. Lethal force is obviously not allowed. " It felt like the entire class saw All Might pause while staring down Bakugo specifically before continuing. "There are three ways to win, knock your opponent into unconsciousness, get them out of the arena, or make them concede. Your matchups will be randomly determined and these spars will be recorded for your Homeroom teacher later. Any questions?" All Might flashed his Hero smile. "Excellent here are your brackets."
Round 1:
Toru Hagakure vs. Yuga Aoyama
Izuku was standing next to Momo as he began muttering about the outcome of the match. "Hagakure is invisible but Aoyama can wide sweep the arena, meaning she has to duck but if she can get close does she even have any weapons."
As impressive as the sight was, "Izuku just watch, this one is a toss up."
It was in fact not a toss up Momo realized as it seems Hagakure's quirk isn't invisibility but rather light refraction. Wouldn't it be possible to make her visible then or is that just a side effect of her quirk.
Either way everyone was shook as Hagakure just took Aoyama's laser and threw it back into him, defeating him instantly.
Kaminari was the first to speak. "So I didn't know she could do that, did anyone else?"
The entire class shook their heads.
Bakugo Katsuki vs. Shinsou Hitoshi
Poor Shinsou Izuku thought. "What are the chances he can make Bakugo respond to him?" Izuku asked the class.
Tsu being level headed as ever. "Basically 0, Kero. This should be a quick match."
At least Bakugo didn't drag the fight out, he jumped Shinsou as soon as the countdown ended punting the purple haired aizawa from the arena with a large blast.
Rikido Sato vs. Ejiro Kirishima
Power vs defense, Izuku wondered which would crack first as both of the people in question just kept laying into each other.
He head Momo next to him talking about which would run out first, Sato's sugar or Kirishima's hardening.
It ended very anticlimactically in a draw of all things. Sato threw a finishing blow but the massive overdose of sugar had run him into essentially a coma. With neither able to move All Might called it a tie.
Momo Yaoyorozu vs Tenya Iida
Izuku just flashed her a smile letting her know that she had this.
Both people stepped up to the plate Iida bowing and Momo returning it.
"It is an honor to test my valor against our esteemed Vice President, but know I have zero intentions of holding back Yaoyorozu." Iida said finishing his bow
Momo turned serious. "I wouldn't have it any other way Iida and if it makes you feel any better I voted you for the position of Vice President."
As she heard All Might Counting down the first thing Momo did was focus 7% into her legs, she knew she would need that. Second she began to make a taser, she knew Iida had to get into melee range and with his metal suit, this was going to hurt, badly.
Iida knew that the longer this fight went the worse it would be for him so he decided it was finally time to unleash his trump card. Screaming internally RECIPRO BURST! He felt his engines overclock before launching himself as fast as he possibly could at Momo before grabbing her and throwing her as hard as he could. He only had one shot at this and he needed to knock her out.
Momo had never before seen such speed from Iida and she was falling away from the arena she knew she didn't have time to fix this, the ground ever approaching closer. She just shut down and accepted her fate. That was until she saw Izuku frantically cheering her on. Right how could she give up like that, she has the power of the worlds greatest hero, well two of them if you count want Izuku says. She charged up 11% in her fist while simultaneously channeling creation, she had been getting better at this but it still required an intense amount of focus. She slammed her fist into the air below her while at the same time creating a trampoline below her. She found out that things made by creation had no gravity after being created, these two facts combined allowed her to slam her fist into trampoline, slamming it into the ground and herself sailing back into the arena. Her landing was far from graceful but she wasn't out.
The people outside the arena began erupting into cheers.
Iida had failed, he put all his eggs into that basket so to speak." Well played Yaoyorozu, my engines are stalled for essentially the next 50 seconds. I have no hope of victory." before Iida calmly walked out of the arena.
"Young Yaoyorozu Wins by knockout."
She was proud of that performance and she knew Izu would be too, she brushed herself off feeling the various bruises from the impact but no worse for wear over all.
"See I told you, you got this. You just gotta believe in yourself more." Izuku smiled that damn dorky smile at her, of course he was right. Whenever was he wrong.
Izuku Midoriya vs Uraraka Ochako
Ochako saw her name and immediately began panicking, of course she drew the short straw. The person she was about to fight has literally never even been close to matched, he's slaughtered both the next two strongest classmates and has literally never broken a sweat. Ah well let's just not give them a pitiful showing.
Izuku walked up to the podium before giving a friendly wave to Uraraka. "I can see your worrying but don't it's just sparring. We're here to learn."
Of course he thinks that, he knows I have no chance of winning. "Deku, I know you know I can't win but i'm going to try my hardest."
Izuku just tilted his head. "That's all anyone can ever give but I wouldn't sell yourself that short."
They both paused as they heard the countdown begin.
Izuku was mentally sweating, he couldn't just Jetstream her out now, but if he showed pity that'd be even worse. Lost in his confusion the match had already started and Uraraka had already charged him even managing to land a fingertip on him. In sheer panic he felt himself floating away, and he could see the confusion in her eyes followed by what looked like sadness. Fuck Izuku no pity we crush with all our strength.
Momo was genuinely confused, she's never seen her boyfriend even come close to hesitating but he was clearly mulling something over in his head and now he had been caught off guard but I mean does that even matter. In this matchup Uraraka is so unfairly screwed, she used her quirk to remove gravity from someone who can fly. Momo was pretty sure that's just helping the enemy at that point.
Feeling his weightlessness Izuku began to use Jetstream to steady himself. Huh I can just fly now, before I basically could but this is just flight. Although I should be careful as she can remove my weightlessness at any moment and if I use too much of Jetstream I just get shoved in one direction. Seriously this quirk breaks physics, okay new plan we wait. Just because she's removed our gravity doesn't mean anything, she will get tired from quirk overuse and then we win Izuku. "Uraraka this was a good plan against anyone else, but I know you have a time limit that's functionally shortened by a weight limit. I may not weigh much but eventually your quirk will run out and when it does I win. I don't suppose you took my paperweight idea into consideration, your quirk actually helps enemies that can propel themselves such as myself."
The girl below him just sneered at him, she did not like being looked down upon and while no she hadn't listened to that idea he kind of had a point. "Ha it doesn't matter Villain with your weight I can hold you there for hours!"
Okay Izuku was not waiting for that, Fire Breathing, Combustion, your up. Izuku inhaled deeply before spewing out as many flames as he could with one breath. He then used Combustion to surround Uraraka with a circle of flames. "Hero surrender or be slowly cooked alive, I have no patience to wait here for hours."
Just because Uraraka knew it would end this way didn't mean it wouldn't hurt any less, she really didn't want to give up but she was sweating bullets. Dehydration was probably already getting to her and it'd only been a few minutes. Just as she went to surrender to this boiling heat, she suddenly felt blackness and hit the floor.
Izuku surprised by the fact he suddenly has mass reacted as quickly as he could before slamming into the ground. When he did he saw Uraraka's unconsciousness body and the guilt hit immediately. I'd better at least patch her up, he walked over and began to cool her body with molecular manipulation, but not to quickly. Rapidly heating and cooling something was dangerous.
"Izuku Midoriya Wins by Knockout!"
"Now you fledglings, there is time for one final match and since everyone has gotten to fight at least once, why not make this an exhibition match? Vote for the two you want to see fight and that will be our final sparring session." All Might postured to the class who all began to murmur as to who they wanted to see fight.
The votes ended up being a landslide for a matchup everyone had wanted to see previously, it technically had already happened but no one got to see that fight.
Izuku Midoriya vs. Shouto Todoroki
Izuku did his best to look as haughty and villainesque as he could. He was going to make Todoroki use his flames here and now. Izuku making silent apologies for what he was about to do. When the boy Izuku was to fight appeared at the opposite end of the arena he could see the turmoil the boy was in. Good, he was taking Izuku's words to heart, now for the final push. "We both know how this ends if you don't use your fire Todoroki. But i'm a man of honor I'll only use one quirk in this fight, how does that sound?" Of course Izuku was lying, he was about kick the shit out of todoroki with every quirk at his disposal, if Todoroki thought that he had a chance without his fire he was very mistaken.
The heterochromatic teen grimaced when he heard that, HE was being looked down upon of all people. He started gritting his teeth together in frustration, he knew what he needed to do but could he just do it? The last ten years he's known that never using his fire was the correct option, but he wasn't so sure anymore. Todoroki barely noticed the countdown ending but recovered in time to throw an ice blast, his large opener, he failed to account for the fact that his opponent had removed a glove.
The massive ice wave was just about to reach him when Izuku reached out with his right hand and pressed all 5 fingers to the ice decaying the wave as it came. "Oh by the way Todoroki, I'm a villain remember? I lied." Izuku breathed deep roaring and condensing the flames with Pyrokinesis creating a bubble of fire to surround him. His fine control of pyrokinesis had improved greatly over the years, using his fire shield he walked forward shrugging off every attempt Todoroki made at freezing him. "You can't even touch me, how long till you reach your limit? 10, 20 shots? You can't even generate your most powerful ice because your body freezes over before you could reach such temperatures. On the other hand I can do this all day. Stop fucking around, this isn't a fight until you give it your all. Guess how many of my quirks i'm using? I have 11 at the moment and oh wouldn't you know i'm using about half of them, weird huh Todoroki?" Izuku continued his slow march to the other boy as he slowly cornered him.
Todoroki knew everything Midoriya was saying was right and the irony that he was using half his power was not lost on him. Not to mention a real villain would never hold back they would use every trick, every tactic, squeeze every chance they had to gain an advantage not to mention he couldn't even hurt Midoriya as he is now. His ice isn't strong enough to pierce that fire wall, and even if it did Midoriya still has decay. I can't beat him, i'll never be able to beat him. The thought sombered him, he was his father's perfect legacy and yet he doubted even at full power he would ever come close to matching up against the person in front of him. He just laid down defeated and frozen, might as well go out with his dignity intact.
"I thought I told you to stop fucking around Todoroki." Izuku used his Pyrokinesis to melt the ice off of Todoroki before throwing him back into the middle of the arena. "IT'S YOUR GODDAMN QUIRK, FIGHT ME LIKE YOU MEAN IT!"
Memories were flooding back, Todoroki remembered his mom. How she believed in him, she just wanted him to be the hero he wanted to be. His father didn't matter, he never mattered. Shouto was himself, that bastard can be whatever he wants. He felt the left side of his body ignite, it was warm, caring. Nothing like like the flames of his father. It took him a second before he could look up. He saw Midoriya smiling at him. "You're crazy, you know that Midoriya? What kind of idiot smiles after making his opponent stronger."
"Todoroki that was the requirement to even be in the same ring as me. You just unlocked another 6 quirks to fight, if you think you've won simply because you brought out your fire. Well let me tell you, you got another thing coming." Izuku squenched his fist together as he said that. Alright no more holding back, all quirks online, activating combat mode.
Todoroki meanwhile was rapidly heating the cooled air, preparing for the one thing that might stop Midoriya, he knew his fire was near useless in this fight, but it did give him unlimited Ice to work with but even that wouldn't be enough, no he needed to create an explosion large enough to force Midoriya from the ring. Time for PLUS ULTRA, he fused the two halves of his quirk generating as much heat and ice as his body could physically handle before the backlash would hurt him faster than the opposing elements could correct each other.
Izuku was watching his opponent curiously when the mother of all icebergs was launched at him. Alright I goaded him into it, now to win this fight for real. Izuku had finally started unlocking the real secrets of Tempo, the double time never mattered but the old user had much better control of the quirk than he did and now all those self induced migraines were about to pay off. SNAPSHOT .1X SPEED, the world halted around Izuku as he processed every bit of information. The contours on the ice, the way it rippled, the speed of its approach, the way it grew from Todoroki like a snake, writhing towards him. The ice was being continually produced meaning it was one solid object, Decay could likely halt it indefinitely at least until Todoroki stopped that glacier and made a new one, that would be the gap Izuku needs to win. Izuku pulled his fire shield into himself, wearing it like Endeavour does. His black hoodie now glowed red flames licking at the tips of his costume. Izuku had 5 seconds before the backlash of Snapshot hit him, although to Izuku it was more like 50 seconds. He pushed as much as he could into Jetstream flying in slow motion towards the tip of the iceberg, grazing it with his ungloved hand before watching the decay spread. Now to take advantage of the fact that Todoroki has to touch the ground to use his quirk. The arena was small enough for Izuku to abuse this, he fired an air cannon at Todoroki in an attempt to knock him out but the boy created an ice wall behind him to stop him from leaving the arena. Taking use of his opponent's distracted state and the fact that he had to stop using his quirk as it was being decayed, Izuku shot himself like a bullet towards Todoroki. Izuku had been trapped in Snapshot for so long at this point he had no idea how many real life seconds had passed, but he didn't need much more to win this. Once Izuku landed in the spot in front of Todoroki he saw the boy slowly beginning to slam his foot onto the ground but Izuku wasn't letting that happen. He fired Jetstream from a lower angle forcing the teen into the air before Izuku jumped after him. The timing couldn't have been worse however as when he went for the finishing move Tempo ran out and his head was fried. Izuku just fell from the sky with Todoroki.
"DRAW, IZUKU MIDORIYA AND SHOUTO TODOROKI HAVE BOTH LEFT THE BOUNDS OF THE ARENA! Class I must say you chose excellently for the exhibition match, that was a masterful showing from two of your fellow classmates. However I must be off expect to review with Aizawa later." With that the Number 1 Hero and symbol of peace and justice ran off.
Both of the boys got up slowly, they had fallen like 20 feet after all, it was not a pleasant experience to say the least.
Todoroki was the first to speak. "Midoriya, you made me use my fire. I don't know how to feel about that... but it wasn't a bad feeling. I need to search my feelings a bit more first but, thank you."
Izuku just rubbed his hair while letting out a small laugh. "Sorry if I said anything to offend you, but I was getting tired of watching you half ass everything. If you ever need any help just let me know Todoroki, I know you aren't here to make friends but i'd be willing to help regardless."
Todoroki to all his credit just focused his gaze on Midoriya, not entirely sure how to deal with the boy in front of him. He paused before speaking, "I'll consider it Midoriya." and with that he turned and walked off.
Gym Gamma after school
"You okay Momo? I know you hit the ground pretty hard during reentry." Izuku showing genuine concern.
Momo simply readjusted herself regaining her prim and proper stature. "If I didn't know any better I'd think you me weak, Hmph. Plus it's not like you did any better, I can still hear recovery girl's yelling and that was hours ago."
Izuku realizing she was teasing just stared at her.
Momo giving up the act. " Ugh Fine, yeah I'm okay but that's not why we're here today. Since you know what has essentially given me infinite fat storage for my quirk I'd taken up your advice on building larger constructs and I found one I think you'd like. Have you heard of the riot displacing sound cannon? Your advice to look at the tools people had before quirks has given me quite a lot of inspiration. Honestly it's kind of weird just how much quirks have slowed and changed technological growth, it's like everyone forgot that the old stuff really worked."
Izuku while glad she was still taking his advice honestly didn't care, he wanted to know how this so called sound cannon worked. He just gave her the quirk look until she relented.
"Fine, basically it uses megaphone technology to focus sound into a generalized area, it was an amazing riot control tool because you could disable large groups at a time with just the power of sound. It had an effective range of around 50ft and anything within that range is almost certainly down on the floor in pain. I've been trying to create actual vehicles with my quirk but there are so many different and moving parts that it's quite difficult."
Izuku realized there had to be a reason she brought him here and he didn't like it. "Am I the test dummy?"
"Oh you catch on so quick dear, but do take this I can't let you hurt yourself." She created a pair of noise cancelling headphones before tossing them at him.
With the headphones on and a quick thumbs up given Momo unleashed what could only be described as sound hell upon him. Even with the headphones on the air was shaking and he was screaming in pain. Thankfully Momo stopped as soon as she saw the pain Izuku was in. "ALRIGHT MOMO IT WORKED REALLY WELL, WHY IS EVERYTHING RINGING?"
Momo winced at hearing her boyfriend just screaming at her, okay maybe improving the materials used to make the machine had increased its output by too much. She mouthed to Izu loud after pointing at her own ears.
Thankfully it seems he understood and removed the headphones before talking at a much quieter volume. "Alright so that worked Momo." Izuku felt like he was whispering to himself it was so quiet.
"Let's call the test here for today Izu I'm not going to hurt you more." She just grabbed him by the wrist and they walked off.
Chapter 13
Izuku sat at his desk penciling in a few ideas for his hero notebooks, he had finally come up with a better suit design for Momo but among other things he was quandering the nature of quirks themselves. It's doesn't help that the only person who could help him is quite literally the most evil being on this planet. A knock at the door interrupts his musings.
Izuku didn't even turn to the door while he shouted. "It's open come in."
Momo sauntered into the room seeing her boyfriend clearly deep in thought. "Whatcha up too?"
Izuku quickly closed the notebook that had her costume redesign in it, it was too early for her to see that. "Oh well I'm just trying to figure out what exactly quirks are. They can change so much depending on what the actual quirk did but they have to have a physical presence in the body or I wouldn't be able to take them. There has to be some constant that is present in every single person with a quirk. What causes a person to overload on quirks? I'm really trying to figure it out but i'm getting nowhere fast. You got any ideas Momo? You know more about chemistry and the like after all."
Momo paused thinking before she answered. "Hmm you describe having too many quirks as overheating the brain yes? It could do with neurons or something similar. You are right there must be a physical thing you are giving and taking from people. The strain may cause it to overheat, like overclocking a computer."
A computer? Memory, THAT'S IT. "Holy shit Momo your a genius, I figured it out. It's like the the RAM of a computer, each person's brain can handle only so much memory. I have a test I need to do, if my memory can be expanded can't others memory be expanded as well? Do quirks take up different amounts of a person's memory? For example Todoroki's quirk essentially is two separate quirks, does it require more memory than the average quirk? How does this work with One for All? Is it compressing itself to function as only one quirk? I'm gathering some people I need test subjects."

Cinnamon Bun: Drop by my room real quick, i'm running some tests on quirks.
Bakugo was the first to arrive, seeing the nerd at the table writing in his stupid quirk notebooks. "Alright Deku i'm here what did you want."
Izuku looked up from his book ceasing his scribbling. "Simple keep Pyrokinesis for awhile, I want to see if other people can be trained to handle more than one quirk like myself." Izuku held up his hand for a hand shake. Bakugo begrudgingly took it, "Who knows nerd maybe I won't give this back." Uraraka arriving just in time to see the two mid handshake.
"Hey Deku, so what's up." How the girl could be so bubbly Izuku would never know.
"Oh it's simple I'm testing some of the limits to my quirk. The two main ones being do different quirks take up more of a person's quirk total and can I train other people to handle more quirks."
"Thanks nerd i'm out of here." Bakugo stomping off as he went, Baby steps Izuku baby steps.
He held down his internal wincing before turning back to the girl literally made of rainbows and sunshine. "You're going to help me with the prior. I couldn't give you an extra quirk last time so I wanted to see if I took your quirk and then tried giving you a combination of every 2 quirks that I possess I might be able to tell if quirks do differentiate on that front. I honestly can't believe I'd never tested this before."
"That sounds fun i'm in!" She bounced up and down like a giddy child before sitting in the chair next to Izuku and thrusting her hand out.
Momo had been observing all of this from the corner of the room, she wished she could help Izu with this but One for All makes it to risky.
"Alright i'll start by taking float and then we'll move down the list." Izuku was thankful for the drop from 11 quirks down to 10 but he's already back up to 11 after taking float. He was hoping for more of a break from the head pains if he was being honest.
Izuku mechanically went down the list as each and every combination of two quirks that he could try continued to fail, having exhausted like half of the options he was beginning to lose hope. Then came the light at the end of the tunnel, Uraraka currently had minor Fire resistance but when he went to test out giving her molecular manipulation he didn't hear the usual alarm his quirk gives him. Wait a minute, did it work? He gave the girl Molecular Manipulation, ready to pull back at the first sign something was wrong but the girl just looked at him completely fine. "Holy shit Momo, you were right. It's memory. Uraraka i'm about to do something don't freak out okay?" Izuku pulled her arm towards him then left it in the air before breathing fire onto her arm. "Look no damage, now the other quirk I gave you is potentially dangerous, take this pencil. The quirk is touch based you must put all five fingers onto the thing you wish to use the quirk on, just like your old one. This quirk allows you control the speed at which molecules vibrate. Imagine your making a bunch of smaller objects rapidly vibrate, now combine that with the pencil."
Uraraka did as she was told closing her eyes and focusing on that image. She didn't feel any change but she heard a gasp from Midoriya so she opened her eyes and low and behold the pencil had combusted she just couldn't feel it due to fire resistance. "Wow so this is what it's like having two quirks. It's kinda like having two ropes to tug on instead of one."
"Well I think we can call this experiments a success. Now Uraraka, do you want to try and up your total quirk potential like Bakugo is? You won't be able to use float for a bit but I feel like I managed to put you even closer to your maximum quirk limit with this. You won't be able to use float for awhile though and the sports festival is in a week so I know it's a bit risky but there's a chance you get stronger at the end of this."
Uraraka pondered it briefly before she realized that if she were going to catch up to people like Momo, Todoroki, and Izuku then there was only one option. "I'm going to try and increase my quirk limit, I can't keep falling behind everyone. It's time for Plus Ultra Ochako." The float err not currently float user just beamed at Deku while saying that.
"Thanks for helping me test this Uraraka." Izuku smiled back at her.
"No Problem Deku, i'm gonna go show people off my new quirk." The girl basically ran out of the room after that.
Izuku turned to his girlfriend. "Hey Momo I finally managed to convince the principal to let me out of the school if i'm being guarded by a teacher. I'm going to the prison wanna tag along?"
She had never seen how he took quirks before and the idea did sound pretty interesting to her. "Sure why not. Not many people get to say they've been inside Tartarus after all."
"Cool Toshinori-san is coming to get us at 1, make sure your ready by then." Izuku smiled at her.
A few hours later inside a familiar beaten up station wagon.
"So All Might, did Tsukauchi say what quirks i'll be taking today? I'm actually pretty low currently I only have 9 at the moment and when is the Execution taking place. We need to dump decay off after all." Izuku saw his girlfriend reech when she heard him talking about an execution so carefreely. It used to bother Izuku as well but it became a common enough occurence that he was able to get over it.
"This is the first I'm hearing of an execution Izu." Momo was generally unsettled by that.
"You don't need to watch but it's how I get rid of quirks that are just to dangerous or unwieldy. I know it's a bit morbid but it really is the best way, otherwise I'd have to give Decay to another person and after seeing how annoying it is to live with it's probably better off being lost." Izuku explained sadly.
"Oh I figured you just gave it to an animal like a chicken before it was slaughtered for food." Momo tossed that comment in offhandedly.
All Might slammed his feet on the brakes before both he and Izuku stared at the girl before both simultaneously shouted. "HOW DID WE NEVER THINK OF THAT?"
Izuku spoke next. "The principal is an animal, animals can have quirks. Why did we never try giving them to one." Izuku said while facepalming, it was so obvious in hindsight.
Toshinori saw the look of incredulousness on one of his two successors before nodding along. "Yes, my boy we have been quite foolish there. All for One is such a versatile quirk and we've barely even scratched the surface of it. It just has too many possible uses, almost infinite one would say. We can't expect to plan for every single outcome." All Might was just trying to save face here, he realized how dumb they had been.
Momo was trying to suppress a giggle but failing miserably. "That's twice in one day that i've outsmarted you on the topic of quirks Izu, you might want to be worried i'm coming for that title of yours." She said haughtily, teasing him.
"Ha ha very funny or should I say brrrr metal stick." Izuku said while sticking his tongue out at her
Momo was pouting now. "I was TEN. Stop bringing that up and also I hate you for introducing me to memes."
Izuku smirked at that second part. "No you don't."
Momo just sighed. "No... I don't."
Toshinori was smiling seeing his two successors getting along so well. "Alright you two we're here, time to act professionally."
They were greeted by the familiar sight of Tsukauchi once they got through the checkpoints, the guards were long used to seeing the small boy with All Might but the addition of a young girl was puzzling to them.
Izuku spoke first. "Hey detective, what am I taking today? I can take a maximum of 4 right now, 5 once we get rid of Decay. I was doing some experimenting at the dorms and handed out a few quirks."
The detective was surprised by this, he had never heard of the boy permanently handing out his main cache of quirks out unless he found better ones. The thought that Midoriya could potentially strengthen all heroes by giving them extra quirks was an interesting one. Maybe he could even get a combat quirk for himself. "Well I had planned on you taking the usual 3 quirks but I'm sure I can arrange for some more to be taken. Let's lead with the execution i'll make a call and get some more inmates called over."
Momo politely excused herself from the execution. She didn't want to touch that with a ten foot pole.
Izuku looked down at the man condemned to die 8 counts of premeditated murder. He was an assassin for the yakuza his quirk was called EMP it allowed the man to short circuit all technology in a 20 foot radius but only for as long as the user remained within that range, it would be a fine addition to Izuku's bank of quirks. Izuku took the string into his hand and pulled before replacing the string with a new one, Decay. Thankfully Izuku had the foresight to let the guards know to put his three fingered gloves on the man before the transfer. Izuku whispered a silent prayer for the man, hoping his soul would find peace in the next life before Izuku exited the room. He saw Momo standing stock still against the concrete walls of Tartarus.
She spoke first. "Is he ya know?"
Izuku felt bad for bringing her here now. "I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked you to come along, and no he isn't, not yet. He's going to receive the injection within the next five minutes though."
Momo simply shook her head. "No no, I wanted to come here. I'm going to have to deal with this eventually when I become a hero. It's better to get it out of the way now." Momo was giving a thousand year stare at the walls while she said that.
Izuku walked over to the girl and gave her a hug. He heard her whisper "Does it get easier?"
Izuku whispered back. "Eventually yeah."
The couple broke apart quickly when they heard the door open, revealing their mentor. "Not having a good time with this young Yaoyorozu? I'm not surprised. Death is a hard thing to come to terms with. Let us hurry on with the rest of our job here. The sooner we can put the bad memories behind us the better." All Might stared off when he said that last part, Izuku wasn't sure what to think of that.
They sat in the hallway several more minutes before the detective returned. "Alright four more inmates to go, are you feeling alright Midoriya?"
"Peachy, no quirk backlash yet." Izuku said with a sad smile on his face.
The next criminal was a prolific bank robber, having stolen millions of yen with his quirk quickstep. When the user plants both feet on the ground and after a second delay the user jumps to a location within view, almost teleportation but not quite. You were still moving, just incredibly fast. It seems activating this quirk in succession too often leads to extreme nausea.
The criminal after that possessed probably the quirk Izuku was most intrigued by as it broke physics, Photokinesis. Light Manipulation, similar to hagakure's quirk but also very different. Unlike her quirk this one doesn't make you invisible it does however allow the user to make light solid and bend said light to the owners will. The criminal had apparently been using it to run a small time gang. Overuse apparently leads to blindness, but instead of darkness you are forced to stare at a blinding light.
The second to last criminal had a quirk he was specifically getting for a classmate. Lightning Rod, it allows the user to control where lightning will strike, directly altering the path lightning would normally travel. Kaminari would be ecstatic to learn about this, Izuku just hoped that Kaminari had enough quirk memory. He was really really close to limit when he tested him with Ultra Sight. The villain had apparently used it in conjunction with a taser allowing him to fire lightning bolts. The only drawback to this one was that there needed be lightning in the first place much like pyrokinesis.
The final criminal had what Izuku thought to be the most interesting quirk, it had many interesting properties. It was called life giver, the user could essentially turn inanimate objects into animate ones that followed the whims of the creator. The backlash was both time and size gated, if you tried to turn a rock into a tyrannosaurus rex for example, well don't. The backlash from the quirk is serious, the more life you give the more life you lose. Give enough of it and you die. The previous owner used it to create birds that would go from store to store stealing any valuables they could find, seems innocuous at first but repeat ad nauseum for 5 years and suddenly you've stolen millions of yen worth of items. If the created objects died, they reverted to their previous state and any life given to them was lost. Notably the user regains life at a steady pace or this quirk would kill the user quite quickly. This was likely going to be a quirk Izuku added to his permanent repertoire, he had already been considering changing his main quirks anyway.
Izuku was currently sitting at his safe limit of 13 quirks the backlash however was beginning to get quite severe, but this was his soft limit for a reason. He could manage the headache he was feeling indefinitely, uncomfortable yes, crippling no.
Once they were outside Momo was the first to speak. "So this is how you've been doing it huh Izu? What's it like being responsible for so much? I'm sure you've realized how easily you could terrorize the world but instead you use your gifts to help people. Why is that?"
Izuku just chuckled. "World domination is too much work, i'd rather just sit back and relax. What about you ms. ninth holder of the world's strongest quirk, why aren't you flying all over plunging Japan into its next dark age."
Momo paused for a second before responding. "While it would be fun having a certain green haired freckle encrusted hero chasing me, I wouldn't be able to enjoy the simple things as a villain. Like being with you." Momo bumped into Izuku with her body when she said that.
Toshinori was a little disturbed hearing his wards talk about how easily they could take over hero society but that was countered out by how disgustingly cute they were together. "Alright you two enough flirting, your starting to make this old man feel like a third wheel. Let's get some food and head back to the dorms.
When the pair opened the doors to the dorms they were greeted with the sight of Bakugo using pyrokinesis to suck the flames out of the stove while an angry Sato was trying to cook.
"So what'd we miss?" Momo was very curious at the sight.
"Sugar fuck over here used the last of the eggs, I was trying to make ramen. If I don't get eggs he doesn't get to use the ones he took." Bakugo said while staring down the other hero trainee.
Sato to his credit was leveling the gaze right back at Bakugo. "Perfect timing Midoriya, take that quirk back he's been using it to mess with people all day.
Izuku deadpanned, of course Bakugo had. "Alright that's enough Bakugo let the man cook before I take the quirk back and stop using it irresponsibly. I didn't ask Aizawa's permission before I gave it to you. If he gives me a lecture I WILL take it back."
"Tch. Fine useless Deku I'll stop bothering the extras with the quirk." Bakugo stomped off after that.
With that settled Izuku wanted to lessen the strain in his head. He pulled open his phone before sending a text.
Cinnamon Bun: Come to the common room of the dorm now, class President's orders.
Pikachu: Fine your magnanimousness, get your panties out of a bunch
A couple minutes later a tired looking Kaminari entered the room. "So what did you want Midoriya?"
"Consider this an early birthday present." The boy smirked before grabbing the hand of the electric user. Yup it's safe for him.
"Wha?" The face of the boy was in pure confusion.
"I'm not gonna spoil it, but i'll give you a hint. Quirk." Izuku had already gotten Aizawa to sign off on this mainly because his teacher wanted Kaminari to stop shooting his allies in fights.
"Wait so you gave me a quirk and you won't tell me what it is?" Kaminari was very off put by this weird interaction he was having.
"I'm pretty certain you'll figure it out quickly enough Kaminari. If I just told you what would be the fun in that?" Izuku smiled wolfishly at Kaminari.
"Fine, thanks I guess I'm going to go back to guitar lessons with Jiro." The boy said as he trudged back upstairs.
Momo decided to cut in now. "How long before he figures it out?"
Izuku just shrugged. "Considering the quirk also lets you see the path lightning would normally travel if you didn't alter it i'm going to bet on not very long." That left Izuku with two more quirks to drop off but he decided to head up to his teacher's room to make sure it was okay first. "Hey Momo i'm going to take care of some business then probably go to bed soon, it's been a long day for the both of us." Izuku suddenly lowered his voice. "So whose room are we meeting in tonight?"
Momo blushed at that before looking around and finally telling Izuku to meet her in her room since it's further from Aizawa-Sensei.
Izuku stood before the door to his teacher's room before knocking three times. Izuku could hear some crashing sound from behind the door before it slowly creaked open revealing the eye of his teacher. "Yes problem child?"
"I went to Tartarus today and got some more quirks, I took care of Kaminari's problem but I had a couple quirks I wanted to give out and I came to ask your permission before doing so."
"I swear if your trying to give people that stupid disintegration quirk again problem child." Aizawa was glaring at him from the doorway.
"No not at all Sensei, I got rid of that quirk. The first is called Quick Step. It allows the user to quickly jump from location to location but only to places the user can see." Izuku trying to assuage the man.
"That's ... more acceptable. Who are you giving it too?" Aizawas glare lessened.
"Ah well there's someone in our class who can only fight by throwing themselves at stuff, I figured making them faster would make them a better hero." Izuku said to the main.
Aizawa's eyes widened. "Oh him, yeah sure it should be fine. As for the other?"
"Well for the second quirk it allows the user to control light. I'm sure you realize who I plan on giving that too."
Aizawa just face palmed. "Sure kid."
"Thank you Sensei." Izuku bowed and ran off.
Whelp permission granted time to make the exchange.
