Chapter 3: New World, New Life
Fairy Heroes Academia 3
Although she knew it was an abuse of power, Shuzenji was able to convince everyone that the girls had amnesia and couldn't remember many aspects of their lives. They were cleared of any charges due to having amnesia and not remembering they weren't allowed to use their quirks like that. She volunteered to take the girls in and watch them until they got their memories back. No one had any objections but were quite surprised to learn that THE Recovery Girl wanted to look after these two amnesiac girls.
When asked, she responded with, "They seem to have such powerful quirks, I would like to keep a close eye on them. They don't seem to pose any sort of threat."
Everyone shrugged it off and trusted her judgement, she did feel guilty lying to everyone, but this secret must be kept, and she was excellent at keeping secrets.
They had decided that they would keep their status a secret from everyone else, considering they didn't know how people would react to their true story. They would masquerade their magic as quirks.
Levy's "quirk" was "Solid Script" which allowed her to generate words in the air and make them solid, true to its name. Meanwhile, Lucy's "quirk" was "Star Dress" which allowed her to manifest an outfit that channels the power of a different Zodiac, but she hadn't tested it yet.
Referring to Levy's magic as a quirk was an easy transition and wasn't completely out of this world. As for Lucy, suddenly summoning different wacky characters may seem to be a bit too much, luckily she learned her new spell just in time to disguise it as a quirk. Very lucky indeed, oddly convenient in a way, weird… Ahem, anyways…
They also learned that Shuzenji had a healing quirk, which allowed her to heal anyone with just a kiss, but it cost them their stamina. It almost reminded them of Wendy, except Wendy would tire herself out when she used her healing magic.
Shuzenji quickly taught them the culture of Japan and heroes as best as she could, giving them history books, comic books, and manga. She was shocked that both girls were flipping through the books much quicker than she ever would've imagined. They explained that they both had their Gale Force reading glasses on them when they were sent to this world. These glasses allow the wearer to read at great speeds.
Lucy and Levy took to the changes with ease, they absorbed the knowledge as best as they could. They were quick to adapt to this new world and it's customs. They couldn't get over some of the technology though, it amazed them that electricity was used opposed to magic, but considering they could feel the large amount of magic not being used in the air, it wasn't too surprising.
It should also be noted that Kodai left her contact information for the girls at the hospital, and the girls were able to speak with her on the phone at Shuzenji's house, and inform her that she was right about the amnesia, and were thankful for her help. Kodai was just relieved that the girls were okay, and suggested that they all hang out when they feel up to it, which the girls immediately agreed to with the permission of Shuzenji.
After their third day of living with Shuzenji, the old lady burst into their shared room, "Wake up girls! Time to go shopping!" She announced, opening the blinds and letting the light in.
Levy groaned, while Lucy shot up from bed, "Shopping?" She asked, delighted with the familiar activity, but she hesitated a bit, "...are you sure? I mean you're already doing so much for us…"
"Oh nonsense! Not to brag, but back in my day I earned myself a pretty penny doing hero work!" Shuzenji laughed, she looked at Lucy's unsure face, "And the school I told you about pays me well enough that I should be able to afford it. And my old outfits don't exactly fit you both."
She had allowed Lucy and Levy to wear some of her spare outfits she had when she was younger, though they were still a little baggy on the girls. Lucy nodded and the two dragged Levy out of bed and made their way to the nearest mall.
Lucy happily tried on various outfits at various shops, happily enjoying herself as she was in her own little world. Levy was also enjoying herself, after she had fully woken up of course, and found a couple outfits she enjoyed as well.
They were carrying loads of shopping bags filled with a couple outfits for the different seasons, some pajamas, training clothes, and some formal wear. Both girls were extremely grateful that Shuzenji would help them like this, and didn't know if they could ever repay her.
"Okay girls, here is some money to pick out anything you would like. I need to go do something that should only take a moment." Shuzenji handed them some money before walking away.
"I don't know where we'd be without her." Levy said as they watched her walk away.
"Tell me about it, she's a saint." Lucy responded.
"What are you going to spend your money on Lu?" Levy asked as they collected their bags and walked through the mall.
"I was thinking of a journal, considering I pretty much lost access to my novel…" Lucy sighed, remembering the novel she had worked so hard on, just sitting at her desk without her to finish.
Levy frowned knowing how much the novel meant to her, not only that but she really was enjoying it so far, being the only one Lucy allowed to read it. "Oh Lu… I'm glad you're not giving up. I can't wait to read whatever you come up with."
Lucy smiled weakly at this, but was happy that she had a supportive friend to help see her through it.
"I was thinking about buying a book," Levy said, not surprising Lucy, "I'm gonna have to restart collecting while we're here." She said thinking about her room back at the girls dorm. Her room was practically a library in itself.
The two girls went to make their purchases before meeting back with Shuzenji, who handed them both two cell phones. They had read about them, knowing that they were formerly used for phone calls, before evolving to eventually becoming a daily necessity to most people's lives.
"I got most things set up, and saved my contact on both of your phones. I'd rather you both have a way to contact me in case anything happens and I'm not around." Shuzenji explained to the girls, who hugged her tight.
"Thank you for everything Shuzenji…" They cried, finally overwhelmed with the woman's kindness.
Shuzenji hugged the girls back. They really weren't a burden, it would be nice to have company around the house too more often. Besides the girls were ripped from their own world with only the clothes on their back and whatever was in their pockets. She was more than happy to help these unfortunate girls trying to make the best out of an unwanted situation. (Though let it be known, early on there was an incident where Levy didn't look up from her phone until they restrained her, she just loved having access to so much reading material)
"Let's go home girls, we're going to be beginning your training today." Shuzenji said as they began to make their way out of the mall. "But be prepared, I won't be taking it too easy on you."
. . .
"Alright girls, I already know that your magical power is impressive, but your physical strength leaves much to be desired." Shuzenji told the two lined up in front of her.
Lucy wore a pink tank top, along with a pink track jacket and matching shorts, she had her blonde hair tied up into a bun, and looked focused as she listened to Shuzenji.
Levy wore an orange shirt with black shorts, her blue hair was tied up in a ponytail, and she wore an orange sweatband around her head. She had a twinkle of determination in her eyes.
"Alright, let's start with stretches!" Shuzenji said, luckily being a pro hero, healer, and very health oriented in general, she had complete faith in getting these girls ready for the Entrance exam at UA High School.
UA is the #1 ranking high school in heroics and is considered the top Hero Academy in Japan. Students are separated on their abilities into specific Departments and Classes, ranked A-K. This school was the easiest way for them to become heroes, and Shuzenji worked there as the school nurse, meaning she was their best shot at getting in.
After the stretches Shuzenji decided to get them to do squats, push ups, sit ups, anything she could think of to get them stronger.
She stood on their backs as they did push ups, she had them do a couple laps around a park, and even took them out to swim laps to get them to work on their core strength.
And by the end of the day the girls were sweaty and sore.
"This has been… the worst day… of my life!" Lucy huffed as she dragged herself into the room, fresh from the shower. "That bath was exactly what I needed, but wow I hope that it's not always that bad." She said laying down in bed.
Levy laid unmoving on her bed, "This feels as bad as when Ultear unlocked second origin…"
. . .
The training didn't let up, but they began getting more and more accustomed to it, they no longer heaved after each exercise, and it didn't feel as though their limbs were going to fall off at the end of the day. They were still tired and sore, but their bodies were more toned and they could feel themselves getting stronger.
Shuzenji felt pleasantly surprised with Lucy's combat ability, although she didn't know any traditional fighting styles she was able to handle herself in hand to hand combat, though she did rely mostly on her legs and refrained from punching. It was pretty smart of the girl, considering she had formerly lacked the strength in her arms to deal major damage with her punches. But with the new training they may be able to improve upon her fighting.
Though Levy did need more work the girl took every critique and used it to improve herself best she could. She never considered herself a fighter, so she was like a fish out of water. But with Shuzenji's help, she eventually began improving on her fighting. Through training she realized that she had an eye for detail and could quickly deduce her opponents physical weaknesses and strategize accordingly.
Not only did their physical strength and stamina go up, but they both worked with Recovery Girl in order to gain more control over their magic power and new abilities.
She worked with Lucy in order to figure out her Star Dress, considering they would need that to masquerade as her quirk. She met the Zodiac members of the Celestial Spirits, when each of them worked with Lucy to help teach her about their individual Star Dress.
Levy's Solid Script gained much more strength due to all the magic power flowing through her, but she had learned how to control how much power was discharged when using her magic. She also studied the book that Crux had given her cover to cover, forwards and backwards. She showed Recovery Girl, who was dumbfounded by the contents, but continued to train her to the best of her ability.
Their days were spent studying, training, and doing chores. Though they didn't mind, they had plenty of down time while Shuzenji was working at UA, so they were still able to have time to themselves.
They also started hanging out with Kodai much more often though she referred to them as "Heartfilia" and "McGarden" which was something Lucy and Levy had to get used to. Shuzenji had opted to call them by their given names.
Kodai wasn't too expressive, but she revealed that she wanted to be a hero too, and she was currently studying to get into UA as well. Her quirk is "Size" which gives her the ability to alter the size of non living objects.
Lucy and Levy told Kodai that they "remembered" they were from a tiny hidden village called "Magnolia" that would be impossible to find. They also said that they came to Japan to become heroes, but don't remember exactly how they got there. They felt bad about lying to the girl, but the full truth had to remain a secret, for their own safety and Shuzenji's as well.
After the phone incident, the three girls would spend some time studying for the UA entrance exam at the Library. Lucy and Levy weren't able to use their Gale Force Reading glasses in front of Kodai, but working with the girl helped with reviewing the concepts and reinforcing the material into their memory.
One day, "Hey Lucy, Levy can you two check my answer fo-" The usually stoic girl's eyes widened as she realized she had used their given names, "I'm sorry please forgive me!' She bowed to the two.
Lucy and Levy laughed, "It's totally fine." Lucy said, "As long as we get to call you Yui." Lucy then winked as Levy nodded in agreement.
Kodai blushed, but she had gotten closer to the girls over these few months, so she nodded. "Yes, I'd be glad if you called me Yui."
"Okay Yui~ Let's check your answer then…" Levy said as she leaned over to look at the paper.
. . .
Soon the 10 months were up, and all of their training and studying was going to be put to the test., literally.
"You girls have made me so proud the past few months, you've both improved so much." Shuzenji wiped away her tears as she looked at the girls. "I really believe you'll both make it into UA for sure!"
"It's all thanks to you granny!" They had both taken into the habit of calling her Granny, which Shuzenji didn't mind at all, in fact it warmed her heart that they viewed her so highly.
"Are you sure you don't want me to recommend you both for the course? Or at least one of you? I just know you'd both get in easier that way." Shuzenji offered to the girls one last time.
"Thanks for the offer, granny but we're going to show just how well you taught us!" Levy exclaimed, pumping her fist in the air.
"She's right! All that training wasn't for nothing! And it wouldn't be fair to Yui or anyone else if we did." Lucy added.
Shuzenji in all honesty didn't want them to take the recommendation, and was hoping she instilled enough confidence in the two in order for them to have enough faith in themselves to do it.
Shuzenji smiled, and motioned the two out, "Let's get moving then girls, don't wanna be late!"
Chapter 4: Fairy Starting Line
Fairy Heroes Academia 4
"U.A. High School Entrance Exam Location." Levy read the sign next to the gigantic building towering over them. Shuzenji had long since departed in order to attend to her duties. Lucy and Levy met up with Yui before entering the building.
"Today is the day, I hope we all do well." Yui said gazing at the school, "I'm sure we'll all make it, we've studied so hard."
"Granny never told us what the Entrance Exam was like, she only ever said that we should be prepared for anything." Lucy noted thoughtfully, shaking off her nerves, "We got this!" She cheered, raising her arm, with Levy cheering as well and following suit, Yui also raised her arm, but her expression didn't change.
"Ha yeah! I hope we all make it!" A new voice cheered as a new arm joined theirs in the air. A girl whose body was entirely light pink, had yellow eyes with a black sclera, fluffy pink hair, which was slightly darker than her skin, and two pale yellow horns protruding from her head.
"I"m Mina Ashido!" The girl bowed as she introduced herself, "I saw your guy's positive energy and decided to join, hope you don't mind!"
The other three girls bowed as well, "I'm Lucy Heartfilia, this is Levy McGarden," Levy waved, "and Yui Kodai." Yui nodded.
"Heartfilia, McGarden, and Kodai, got it!" Ashido grinned, "Well let's all go do our best!"
The three girls couldn't help but grin at Ashido's upbeat personality, well Yui's grin seemed like a line she was excited too.
And with that the group went through the gates and headed inside the building that would determine their future.
. . .
'U.A. training school for those whose goal is to acquire necessary qualifications needed for pro heroes, their acceptance rate is less than one in three every year...' Levy thought to herself, 'Graduating from U.A. Is a requirement for becoming a great hero. I'm not really a fighter, but with my training and newfound power, can I do this?
Yui, Lucy, Levy, as well as Ashido all gave each other reassuring smiles before all walking into the room labeled "U.A. High School Hero Course Exam Orientation" and taking their seats.
The room was dimly lit and they all settled down, waiting for the exam to start in anticipation. The lights lit up, and a giant screen displaying the U.A. logo sparkling in a gold font. A lone blonde man stood center stage, "For all you examinee listeners tuning in, welcome to my show today!"
The man raised his arms and exclaimed, "Everybody say hey!" He turned and held a cupped hand to his ear to listen to everyone's excited "Hey!"
But he was ultimately met with a deafening awkward silence, paying it no mind he shrugged, "What a refined response."
"Then I'll quickly present to you the rundown on the practical exam! Are you ready?! YEAH!" The man cheered, but everyone remained silent.
"It's the Voice Hero, Present Mic, wow… I listen to him every week on the radio. I'm so moved… All the teachers at U.A. are pro heroes…."
"Shut up."
Lucy and Levy heard two voices say somewhere behind them, now that they were looking at the blonde man it was now clear that it was Present Mic, they had been researching pro heroes on their own, but rarely got to meet any on their own, besides Recovery Girl. It was a little surreal to see them in person.
As it says in the application requirements, you listeners will be conducting ten minute urban mock battles after this!" The screen changed behind Present Mic displaying a map, showing their current location, and branching areas labeled A-G.
"After the presentation, you'll head to the specified battle center, okay?" He asked, not getting an answer from any of the students, who were nervous, preoccupied looking at their papers, or just down right quiet. "Okay?!" He repeated much louder this time.
Lucy and Levy looked down at their Exam Tickets, "I'm in Battle center A." Levy whispered, showing her paper to Yui and Lucy, "I'm in B." Lucy noted, "I got F." Yui whispered, so none of them would be together, which makes sense, it would probably give them an unfair advantage to work with friends.
"Three different types of faux villains are stationed in each battle center." Present Mic explained as silhouetted objects appeared on screen surrounding a town, "You earn points for each of them based on the level of difficulty."
A video game version of Present Mic appeared to be battling a faux villain on screen, "Your goal, dear listeners, is to use your quirks to earn points by immobilizing the faux villains." As he explained the game showed 'Present Mic' destroying the faux villains and racking up points.
"Of course, attacking other examiners and any other unheroic actions are prohibited!" Present Mic added wagging a finger.
One of the Examinees near Lucy and Levy stood up raising their hand to ask a question, "On the printout, there are four types of villains. If that is a misprint, then U.A., the most prominent school in Japan, should be afraid of that foolish mistake."
Lucy looked at the handout, "He's right, but I don't think he needs to make that big of a deal out of it." She muttered to Levy and Yui.
"We examinees are here in this place because we wish to be molded into exemplary heroes." He spoke before immediately turning around and pointing at an examinee, "In addition, you over there with the curly hair. You've been muttering this entire time. It's distracting. If you're here on a pleasure trip, then you should leave immediately!"
The curly haired boy covered his mouth and looked downcast, "I'm sorry…"
The boy then spoke to Lucy, "And you, miss! You're much closer by comparison and keep speaking, please refrain from doing so when a presenter is speaking!" Lucy blushed and became a little annoyed, "You're causing a bigger disturbance than me right now…" She muttered, turning away from the boy.
"Ha, that's rough Lu." Levy whispered to the girl as many people laughed and snickered at the two's embarrassment.
"Okay, okay, Examinee number 7111. Thanks for a great message." Present Mic said gathering everyone's attention, before the screen displayed another silhouette.
"The fourth type of villain is worth zero points. This guy's an obstacle, so to speak. There's one in every battle center." The screen once again showed the video game Present Mic, "An obstacle that will go crazy in narrow spaces." Video game Present Mic ran away from the bot this time, "It's not impossible to defeat, but there's no reason to defeat it either. I recommend that you listeners try to avoid it."
Examinee 7111 bowed, "Thank you very much!"
"That's all from me! Finally I'll give you listeners a present, our school motto! The hero Napoleon Bonparte once said: "A true hero is someone who overcomes life's misfortunes." Go beyond. Plus Ultra!" The words "Plus Ultra" appeared prominently behind him. "Now everyone, good luck suffering!"
. . .
Outside of Battle Center B many of the students arrived on the bus after changing to their athletic wear. Lucy was wearing her gear that she normally worked out in, not that it would matter when she used her magic.
Many of the students were looking at the large door gaping at the battle center which turned out to be modeled after a city. Lucy began stretching to prepare, she also figured she could figure out a good strategy to take out some of the robots.
She turned and saw the green haired boy uncomfortably walking towards a girl before being stopped by Examinee 7111. Lucy frowned and decided to approach the two, as she got closer she could hear 7111, "What are you doing here? Are you taking the entrance exam to interfere with everyone else?"
"N-N-No, of course not!" The boy responded worriedly, Lucy took a step in between them, "What seems to be the problem here?" 7111 looked at Lucy and remembered her as well.
"I sincerely hope you're both here to take this seriously and not to just cause trouble for the other examinees." 7111 said sternly, crossing his arms at the two.
Lucy's eyebrows furrowed in annoyance, before she grabbed the curly hair boy and took a few steps away, causing the boy to blush as he was dragged away, "Come on we don't need to take this!"
Lucy finally got a closer look at the blushing boy and snapped in recognition, "Oh! You were there that day with the sludge villain! You charged forward when no one else would!"
The boy finally gained enough composure as his eyes widened, never forgetting that blinding light, "And you're the girl with the light quirk!" He exclaimed, causing Lucy to chuckle.
"Not exactly. My quirk is actually different, though I guess the light is a side effect of me using it." Lucy explained, "My name is Lucy Heartfilia." Lucy bowed.
"I'm... Izuku Mi-Midoriya." Midoryia introduced, bowing in return, "It's ni-nice to meet you, Heartfilia!" He began blushing realizing that he was actually talking to a girl for the second time that day.
"I'm glad that you're okay, we were told that the other people caught up in the attack were fine, but it's better to see it with my own eyes." Lucy smiled at her new acquaintance.
Midoriya then recalled something, "You and that other girl both used your quirks, but it's illegal, did you two get into any serious trouble?" He asked.
Lucy started sweating and avoided his gaze, "Well, we both had amnesia at the time, while we both recovered a lot of our memories now, when the incident happened all we could really focus on remembering at that time were our quirks." She explained, and Midoryia nodded in understanding.
"In any case, good luck out there Midoryia!" Lucy said before adding, "Someone who charges in to save someone in need deserves to be a hero."
Midoriya smiled at these words, "Good luck to you too, Heartfilia!"
"Okay, start!" Present Mic's voice boomed in the area. Everyone looked to the source of the voice, which was Present Mic in a tower, "What's wrong? There are no countdowns in real fights! Run, run! The die has been cast, you know!"
"Huh?" Lucy and Midoriya stared at Present Mic's figure before turning around and noticing everyone was gone, "Huh?!" They exclaimed in shock, though Lucy reacted fast, actually having experience in battle and began running, leaving Midoriya behind, "What?!" He exclaimed watching them all run.
"I'm behind already!" Lucy heard Midoriya scream, but right now she needed to focus on herself, she had caught up quickly with the group thanks to her training.
"What's the best way to take these faux villains out?" She thought to herself which spirit's powers would be able to get her the most points. She smirked a plan already forming in her head. "Star Dress: Virgo form!"
Her body lit up and when the light died down her outfit resembled that of a maid's, her blonde hair was now in pigtails, and a symbol appeared on her right shoulder. Everyone who saw this was momentarily distracted by her strange "quirk."
"That light was dazzling, and an outfit change!" A blonde boy said, impressed, "Though I am confused by the outfit." He said as he fired a laser at a nearby robot.
Lucy grinned as she suddenly burrowed to the ground, not too long after various robots began following suit, effectively disabling them. The ones Lucy wasn't getting a brunette girl was tapping on, causing them to float, before ultimately crashing back down to the ground.
Lucy popped out of the ground and was immediately tackled by the brunette. "Sorry!" She squeaked, "But if I didn't do that that robot would've crashed into you!" She pointed to a nearby robot that was now covering the whole she came out of.
"Wow thanks for the save, I should be more careful when I come up from now on!" Lucy said, deciding it would be better if she burrowed underground again to take out the robots that way. The brunette also returned to slapping the villain bots not falling down holes.
Many of the examinees grew frustrated with the two girls raking in points and ran off to other areas to get points. Many people began exclaiming their points all around, though it was muffled since Lucy was underground.
"Spica Lucy Punch!" Lucy called as she emerged from the ground and punched one of the robots, destroying it in the process. "That one was mine!" An examinee said on the floor near the robot. "Whoops, sorry about that." Lucy laughed before running off to get more points.
. . .
Staff members watched the large screen displaying participants of the exam as they judged the examinees on how they were utilizing their skills and abilities in this scenario.
"In this practical exam, the examinees have not been informed of the number of villains or their locations. They have a limited amount of time in a vast area. They have to draw the villains from there. Information gathering ability to understand the situation before anyone else." It was noted as a boy who used his quirk from atop a building to enhance his hearing and figure out where the villains are.
"Mobility that can be used in many different circumstances." It cut to 7111 who was speeding through and destroying the villains.
"Discernment to be able to stay calm in any situation." It showed Levy combining "Water" and "Lightning" to short circuit the villains.
"And pure combat ability." It cut to a boy surrounded by the remains of the robot villains, smiling as he continued his onslaught.
"The basic abilities needed to keep peace in the streets are turned into points in this test." Nezu, the Principal of U.A., asked as he glanced at the portion of the screen where Lucy and Levy were fighting, "You trained those two right? They have interesting quirks." He asked Recovery Girl, who nodded.
"Yes I took those poor girls in, they had a terrible case of amnesia, but in the end their conviction to become heroes came from their hearts." Recovery Girl smiled watching as her girls saved examinees and took down the villains.
"You must admit it was reckless of them to rush that sludge villain." Commented Ken Ishiyama, better known as the pro hero Cementoss, "Especially considering they had amnesia."
Recovery Girl agreed, "It was very reckless, but it further shows that they have the heart of a hero. Even without their memories they felt the need to help aid both those boys. With proper training they have only scratched the surface of their true potential."
"All these children have the potential to have the heart of a hero. That's why I founded this school after all. Doesn't this year's group look promising?" Nezu said, reviewing all the examinees.
"Well, we can't know for sure yet." A panel opened revealing a button that was pushed, "The real test is still to come."
. . .
Many of the examinees were standing together as they suddenly felt the earth rumble, and buildings topple. Windows shattered, and the ground shook and a giant shadow loomed over everyone as they all looked up at the giant robot over them, easily taller than any of the buildings in the area.
The robot punched the ground in front of the examinees causing many of them to be swept back by the force and debris. Lucy looked up at the robot in shock as everyone else ran away. "No way that thing is huge… It's not worth any points, should I just run away?"
"Less than two minutes left!" Present Mic called out, Lucy saw Midoriya whose gaze was locked on the brunette making the robots float before, she was trapped underneath had to help the girl that tackled her from a robot. She watched as Midoriya charged forward, jumping high in the air. Finally steeling her resolve, Lucy's dress began to change again.
"Star Dress: Sagittarius! I'll back you up Midoriya!" Lucy called out to the boy readying her bow and arrow, "Star Shot!" She fired multiple light arrows which followed after the boy.
Midoriya's right fist charged with energy as he struck the giant robot head on, "Smash!" He grunted as the robot was badly damaged, the arrows striking soon afterwards absolutely demolishing it, but Midoriya's arm was useless hanging on his body and he began to plummet down.
"One minute left!" Present Mic announced.
His legs and arm flailed helplessly in the air and he continued to fall, he looked straight down, and was ready to punch the floor to break his fall even if it meant breaking his other arm leaving him helpless.
As soon as he was about to punch the floor it was covered in fluffy pink clouds, and he landed softly on them, immediately feeling soothed. "What the…?"
"I'm glad I was able to make it in time." Lucy sighed in relief, now wearing a wool dress, her hair styled differently once again, she was using Aries' Star Dress and cast wool bomb to save Midoriya.
"I'm safe. No, she saved me…" Midoriya thought, "Her quirk is interesting…" He said noting her different abilities, but he was distracted by the brunette nearby, "Is she all right? She looks uninjured at least…?"
His mind snapped back, the wool no longer calming him as he dragged himself away, "Thank you!" He called to Lucy, who gaped as he dragged himself with one fist, "If I can just get one point!"
"Time's up!" Present Mic shouted as an alarm blared marking the end of the exam. Midoriya's body gave up as he collapsed in disappointment.
"What was that guy?" An examinee asked as they began approaching Midoriya "He suddenly jumped at the obstacle."
"He seemed to have a reinforcement type quirk, but that was unusual… But if he had such an amazing quirk, what kind of life did he lead that would make him so jumpy?"
Lucy couldn't help but wonder the same thing. He was so powerful but he seemed so meek, she reflected on his actions where he charged in when no one else would, "From the looks of it, he acts the most when it's protecting someone. If he had control over his quirk, he'd be a perfect hero."
"Okay, good work." A familiar voice called out, "Good work, good work. Eat some gummies." Recovery girl said as she handed the examinees candy. Lucy grinned at the woman's good nature.
"That mademoiselle is the backbone of U.A." The boy with the naval laser said.
"Oh dear, you were hurt this much by your own Quirk." Recovery Girl frowned at the boy, "It's as if his body is not used to his Quirk yet."
She puckered her lips and they stretched down kissing Midoriya on the head. "Kiss!"
"Wh-What was that?" An examinee called out.
"U.A. High's licensed school nurse, the Youthful Hero, Recovery Girl!" Midoriya's body shone lightly as his body began fixing itself, "Her Quirk is the super activation of healing ability. U.A. can only go through with such a reckless entrance exam because of her." The blond examinee said.
"Let's finish this quickly. Is anyone else injured?" Recovery girl called out before tending to more people.
When she was done she approached Lucy and smiled, "You did wonderful dear, though there were a couple hiccups." She said, causing Lucy to nervously laugh.
"Do you know how Levy did?" Lucy asked, Recovery Girl nodded, "She did wonderful too, you've both come very far." She said, causing Lucy to tear up and smile.
. . .
One week later Lucy and Levy had been waiting anxiously for the news if they got in. They know they didn't take out the most robots, but surely they took out enough to secure a spot. And they were pretty confident in the results of the written portion of the exam.
"Wait so you're telling me there was a guy who just kept blowing up the robots?" Lucy asked about Levy's experience in Battle Center A.
Levy laughed and nodded, "He kept screaming "die" as he did it. Something tells me he was a bit too eager to become a hero."
"At least he didn't break all of his bones like poor Midoriya." Lucy said thinking about the hanging limbs that Granny had healed, "Granny's Quirk is really incredible."
"I just can't believe that he had enough power to break all of his bones like that." Levy said.
"Hello girls, I have something for you!" Shuzenji walked into the room waving an envelope in her hand. The girls both scrambled for it, and held it up. Their future would be determined by the contents of his letter.
"The pressure is on…" Levy said, feeling as if the letter was iron in her hands, weighing them down. Shuzenji laughed at the girls, "You both shouldn't worry too much. I'll let you both have your privacy." She said as she shut the door behind her softly.
Lucy and Levy broke the seal revealing a disk which promptly lit up and projected All Might, "I am here as a projection! It's great to see you two doing so well after the run in with the Sludge Villain. I trust Recovery Girl has been taking excellent care of you! I apologize for not following up, but I have been preoccupied."
Lucy and Levy heard that All Might was the one to rescue them, and Granny had told them that he was the one that contacted her after the incident. They knew he was the number one hero but they didn't know why he was showing up on the projection.
"I will be working at U.A. as one of your teachers!" The holographic All Might announced.
"The number one hero is teaching at U.A., that's unbelievable!" Lucy said excitedly.
"Lucy Heartfilia you passed the entrance exam with flying colors and wracked up many villain points on the practical exam." All Might explained. As clips of Lucy fighting showed up on the screen behind him, finally showing the giant robot Lucy shot down. "We couldn't give you any points as it was Izuku Midoriya took down that final villain. But we weren't only grading based off of Villain points." Lucy didn't mind that she didn't receive points cause she was just trying to do the right thing, but she did raise an eyebrow at the end of the statement.
"This is a job that requires risking one's life to put that lip service into practice! Rescue points! And they're awarded by a panel of judges. It's the other basic ability we at U.A. look at!"
The screen showed Lucy being tackled out of the way of a falling robot by a brunette, not only that but it showed Lucy using her wool to cushion Midoriya's landing.
"Wow Lu, way to go!" Levy patted her on the back as Lucy sighed in relief.
"Levy McGarden you did well in the practical exam, showcasing masterful usage of your quirk. Your quirk shows a high level of versatility that left many of us impressed. As for your written exam…" All Might paused, Lucy and Levy both exchanged worried looks. "CONGRATULATIONS! You scored the highest out of all of the applicants, receiving a perfect score!"
Levy sighed in relief as she heard the news, but was stunned after. "Congratulations Levy!" Lucy said, wrapping her arms around Levy in excitement.
"You both passed. This is your hero academia!" All Might finished as the two girls smiled proudly at the screen.
Chapter 5: Don't Fail Aizawa's Test!
Fairy Heroes Academia 5
Lucy and Levy felt great, they felt incredible in fact. They felt as if they could take on the entire world. They told Shuzenji the news, she had already known that they got in and congratulated them. They received a call from Yui who passed the exam as well.
Now here they were in the Nurse's Office of U.A. as they had decided to tag along with Recovery Girl. They had donned their new uniforms with pride: a long-sleeved button-up white shirt, a gray school jacket with blue-green stripes, a red tie, and a dark blue-green pleated skirt.
"Now girls, just because you made it in don't think the rest will be easy." Shuzenji informed the duo, "In fact, things may only get harder from here." She warned.
Lucy and Levy understood her worries, "With your training, I feel like we're ready for anything!" Levy laughed, Lucy pumped her fist, "Yeah, bring it on UA!"
Shuzenji smiled fondly at her girls, before ushering them out, "Now go on off to class! I don't want to hear a single thing about being late!" Lucy and Levy allowed the shorter woman to escort them out the room, hastening the pace.
. . .
The girls found themselves in front of a giant door with '1-A' painted on it. "There's no mistaking a door that obvious, is there?" Lucy remarked as they looked up at the massive entryway.
"Is it for accessibility…?" Midoriya muttered, also looking at the towering door, catching the pair's attention. "Oh! Hello Midoriya." Lucy waved.
"Hey Midoryia!" Levy grinned at the boy, "You seemed to have healed up nicely!" She noted, studying his appearance, having heard of the incident from Lucy. Midoriya blushed, 'Girls are talking to me…!" He thought to himself, 'Be cool!'
"W-well, I have you to thank you again for helping me back then, Heartfilia!" He bowed to the girl who waved it off, "I just did what anyone would've done, you're the one who took down that ridiculously giant robot!" Lucy praised.
"Yeah too bad I couldn't stop myself from getting hurt…" He muttered somewhat downcast. "Hey don't mind that, that's why we're here, to learn." Levy tried to assure Midoriya.
"By the way, I'm Levy McGarden." Levy bowed, "Lucy told me about you, I hope we could get along."
Izuku quickly bowed back, "Nice to meet you McGarden, I hope we can grow together as heroes!" His gaze drifted back towards the door in front of them, "The elite chosen from the huge number at the exam…" He pictured Bakugo and 7111 from the exam, remembering his unpleasant interactions.
"I hope I'm not in the same class as the scary people…" He trailed off as he began to open the door, "Don't stress yourself out Midoriya, everyone in the class should be heroes, how bad could it be?" Lucy said confidently.
She was immediately proved how bad it was when 7111 loudly chastised Bakugo, "Don't put your feet on the desk!"
Bakugo wasn't fazed by the other student, "Huh?"
"Don't you think that's rude to the U.A. upperclassmen and the people who made the desk?" The spectacled boy implored urgently.
"Nope. What junior high did you go to, you side character?" Bakugo dismissed the other, not very amused with the conversation.
Midoriya, Lucy, and Levy all beheld the sight with apprehension.
"I attended Somei Private Academy. My name is Tenya Iida." He declared as he chopped his hands through the air somewhat robotically.
Bakugo's interest was piqued by that, "Somei? So you're a damn elite, huh?" He eyed Iida with a smirk, "Looks like I'll have fun crushing you."
"Crushing?! That's cruel. Do you truly aim to be a hero?" He gasped appalled at the spiky-haired blonde's behavior.
Bakugo scoffed and turned away, the two finally noticing the incoming students. "You're…" Iida muttered, causing literally every other student present to turn their heads to the newcomers.
Midoriya blushed, "Oh, um…" Midoriya stammered, but Iida was already approaching, "Good morning! I am from Somei Private Academy. My name-"
"We already heard!" Levy giggled at his actions, the boy froze completely, and Midoriya laughed it off, "I'm Midoriya. This is Heartfilia and Mcgarden. Nice, to meet you, Iida."
"I hope you're not gonna lecture us again…" Lucy crossed her arms, remembering her interaction with Iida before. "Heartfilia, Midoriya, you realized there was something more to that practical exam, didn't you?" Iida commented, before continuing.
"I had no idea… I misjudged you!" He shut his eyes and turned away slightly, "I hate to admit it, but you are better than me." Iida confessed, causing Midoriya to sweatdrop.
"Sorry. I actually didn't realize anything." The freckled teen said. Lucy shrugged, figuring it was as close to an apology as she was gonna get, "Let's all just work hard to be good heroes."
Iida nodded, robotically chopping the air once again, "Well said, Hearfilia!"
A familiar voice spoke up from behind them, "Oh, that curly hair! You're the plain-looking one!" The brunette girl from the exam Lucy had a brief interaction with was standing at the door, happily waving, "You and the blonde! You passed, just like Present Mic said!"
'It's the nice person!' Midoriya thought to himself, he checked the girl out taking in her features, 'She looks good in a uniform…'
"Of course you did! Your moves were amazing!" The girl cheered, oblivious to Midoriya's thoughts as he turned beet red. Lucy smiled back at the girl, "I could say the same to you! Thanks for the save before."
"My name is Ochaco Uraraka!" She introduced herself to the group, "I'm Lucy Heartfilia and this is Levy McGarden and Izuku Midoriya." Lucy said as Uraraka happily nodded along with each name.
A tired voice grumbled in annoyance, "Go somewhere else if you want to play at being friends." The group gaped at the man cocooned in a yellow sleeping bag lying on the floor. "This is the hero course." He drawled out, taking a swig from a pouch he pulled out of his sleeping bag.
The future heroes gathered at the door froze in horror at the sight of this man. He unzipped the sleeping bag and slipped out, "Okay, it took eight seconds before you were quiet. Time is limited. You kids are not rational enough."
Everyone studied the worn-out man, his eyes half open and black looking around the room. He was slender with pale skin, and he also had unkempt facial hair, making the students question whether or not he was homeless considering he was camped out in the hall. "I'm your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa. Nice to meet you."
"Homeroom teacher?!" The students reeled in shock.
'This guy sure doesn't look like a typical teacher…" Levy thought to herself, somewhat confused but if U.A. trusted this guy then who was she to judge based on appearance?
'Does this guy ever get sleep?' Lucy questioned, focusing on the bags under his eyes.
Aizawa, not caring for the atmosphere didn't waste a single second, pulling out a blue PE uniform, "It's kind of sudden, but put these on and go out onto the field."
Everyone continued to stare at him, still lost in their thoughts and he sighed, "Do not keep me waiting for long." Aizawa said before slowly walking off.
. . .
The girls of Class 1-A were all gathered in the locker room as they got changed into their new outfits. Ashido gingerly strolled up to Lucy and Levy, "Nice to see you two again!" She grinned at the girls.
"Ashido! I guess the positive energy worked, huh?" Levy laughed at the girl, who nodded sagely, "Yes and it worked well…" Her grin betrayed her tone as she gestured, "I mean look at all the hot babes we have in our class. Guys and girls!" She cried, "I'm so honored!" She hyped them all up, causing a few of the girls to blush or laugh.
"I'll admit that there are some interesting individuals here, ribbit." A calm voice said and Levy's face brightened up, "Oh Lucy, this is Tsuyu Asui, Asui this is Lucy Heartfilia and Mina Ashido!" Levy introduced, "We were at the same exam location, and we talked before the battle."
The frog girl's oval eyes observed them and smiled, "Please call me Tsu, I hope we can all be friends." She smiled which the girls returned, nodding.
The girls put their uniforms away in their designated lockers as they continued to ready themselves for whatever their new Teacher had prepared for them.
Levy, when on her internet binge had read up on U.A. and knew that Aizawa was a ruthless teacher, he would definitely make sure that they'd have a challenge, even on the first day if the outfits were anything to go by.
"We should get going before Aizawa Sensei reprimands us for being late." A black-haired girl with a ponytail spoke, and the rest agreed as they all traveled to the field as a group, not wanting to leave him waiting.
. . .
"A Quirk assessment test?!" The group of students seemed to exclaim in unison as they stared down their new teacher.
Uraraka spoke up, "What about the entrance ceremony? The orientation?" She questioned the man, not expecting this on the first day.
"If you're going to become a hero, you don't have time for such leisurely events." Aizawa replied, "U.A.'s selling point is how unrestricted its school traditions are." He shifted his gaze back to the students, "That's also how the teacher's run their classes."
"You kids have been doing these since junior high, too, right?" Aizawa pulled out a tablet, "Physical fitness tests where you weren't allowed to use your Quirks."
Lucy and Levy both kept their mouths shut, not having been through the hero schooling system, so they had only what Granny had told them when she was teaching them about the schooling system.
"The country still uses averages taken from results from students not using their quirks. It's not rational." Aizawa explained to the kids, who all listened intently.
"Bakugo, you finished at the top of the practical ecam, right?" Aizawa acknowledged, "In junior high, what was your best result for the softball throw?" He asked.
"67 meters." Bakugo replied.
"Then, try doing it with your Quirk." Aizawa instructed. Bakugo nodded, taking the ball from his teacher and taking his place in the center of the circle in the throwing area. "You can do whatever you want as long as you stay in the circle. Hurry up. Give it all you got."
Bakugo began to stretch his arms in preparation, "Then, well…" He stretched the rest of his body, "I'll add a blast to the pitch." He hurled the ball forward, a huge blast encasing it propelling it through the sky, "DIE!"
Levy giggled as she was reminded of the entrance exam, honestly she wasn't surprised after watching him take down robots with precision and power. Lucy on the otherhand looked at the guy with slight fear, 'He almost doesn't seem like the hero type…' She cried on the inside.
"Know your own maximum first." Aizawa informed as the ball landed, "That is the most rational way to form the foundation of a hero." He held up the device displaying Bakugo's score.
"750 meters? Seriously?" A blonde haired teen with a a black streak in his hair remarked, intimidated by the score. "What's this? It looks fun!" Ashido clasped her hands together.
A student with cylindrical elbows spoke up next, "We can use our Quirks as much as we want! As expected form the hero course!" He said ecstatically.
"It looks fun, huh?" Aizawa repeated, "You have three years to become a hero. Will you have an attitude like that the whole time?" He questioned, before ginning emoniously, "All right. Whoever comes in last place in all eight tests will be judged to have no potential and will be punished with expulsion."
Most of the students yelled out in shock, fearing the consequences of failure, they were lost in their panic over whether or not they'd be the one who was expelled.
'There's no way he can be serious!' Lucy thought to herself, gazing at the man, 'I refuse to let myself fail here, but will someone really be expelled if they fail?' She glanced at her new peers, wondering who it would be, frowning at the thought.
Levy had done the research on Aizawa, she knew he had a record of expelling students before, she shivered at the fact that a person's dreams could be crushed like that. Aizawa continued his speech, "We're free to do what we want about the circumstances of our students."
He lifted his hair from his face revealing his mad grin and a dilated pupils, "Welcome to U.A.'s hero course!" Some students grinned, others looked on in fear, and the remainder had a neutral look, mentally preparing themselves for the trials ahead.
"Hold up you can't be serious!" Lucy exclaimed, with Uraraka stepping up beside her, "But it's the first day of school! No, even if it wasn't the first day of school, this is too unfair!" They were in agreement over the unjust decision their teacher made.
"Natural disasters, big accidents, and selfish villains." He countered with an even tone, "Calamities whose time or place can't be predicted." While Bakugo and Midoryia thought about their altercation with the Sludge Villain, Lucy and Levy couldn't help but think about Tenrou Island with Acnologia or Future Rogue and the Dragons…
"Japan is covered with unfairness. Heroes are the ones who reverse those situations." Aizawa lectures, "If you wanted to go talk with your friends at Mickey D's after school, too bad."
"For the next three years, U.A. will do all it can to give you one hardship after another. Go beyond. Plus Ultra." He relaxed and smiled more encouragingly, "Overcome it with all you've got."
The students all found themselves regaining their confidence, deciding to give it their all for whatever their teacher was going to throw at them.
Iida took a sip from his water bottle, 'This is the best of the best. There is no choice but to do it.'
'This isn't the best I've got.' Bakugo grinned, loosening up his arm.
Levy readjusted her high ponytail, securing it in place, 'There's no way I'm gonna fall behind. Not after everything I've learned…' She grinned knowing her ace in the hole, silently thanking Crux.
"All right, demonstration's over." Aizawa called out, "The real thing starts now."
. . .
Test 1: 50-meter dash
The students each lined up to have their time recorded for the test. Two students would go at a time and a machine would inform them of their results. Iida decided to go first, his Quirk perfectly suited for the test, Tsu joined him, her legs being stronger than most due to her frog Quirk.
"On you mark…" The machine spoke, with the students in position, "Get set…" A shot rang through the air and Iida sprinted with a focused gaze on the finish, the engines in his legs thrusting him forward past his goal, "3.04 seconds." The machine reported. Tsu was close behind, her hopping giving her incredible distance.
"He's almost as fast as Jet…" Levy mumbled melancholic, with Lucy patting her shoulder in solace. Tenya Iida's Quirk was Engine, his legs contained engines and thrusters which increased his speed tenfold.
"Well, he's like a fish in water." Aizawa quipped, nodding at the score., "It'll be worth seeing what others do." Knowing that the standard was now set. Tsu scored 5.58 seconds, doing fairly well. "Ribbit."
Uraraka felt pumped, stepping up alongside a boy with a large tail. She touched her clothes, with them lighting up with a pink glow as she did so, "Lighten up my clothes and shoes…"
Her Quirk was Zero Gravity, taking off with a sprint her body was slightly lighter due to using her power on her clothes. She can nullify the gravitational pull of any object she touches, going over capacity will make her nauseous though.
The tailed boy on the other hand leapt and made bounds that would give Tsu a run for her money, clearing with a time of 5.49 seconds. Uraraka crossed the line "7.15 seconds." The machine registered.
So far scoring the lowest score, yet Uraraka smiled happily, "Oh, but that's faster than I was in junior high!" She looked on the bright side, declaring it a personal win.
Lucy and Levy watched on so far with apt interest in their classmates. Their Quirks were a lot like magic, at times it seemed like they could be better than magic, but other times it seemed like it could be a bit worse. They supposed they both had their quirks so to speak.
'A lot of these Quirks have some serious potential, but we didn't do all that training for nothing.' Lucy thought to herself, as Ashido readied for her turn. A blond boy with an intricate belt around his belly took a stance right by her.
The blonde boy turned away from the goal pointedly, "Everyone, you're not being creative enough." He said as everyone stared at him blankly or with little interest.
"On your mark…" The machine started.
"I'll show you what it's like…" The boy twinkled.
The machine announced their round, with the blond boy jumping up into the air and firing a beam from his belly button, which sent him flying towards the goal, "..to be allowed to use your Quirk!"
This was Yuga Aogama, with his Quirk Navel Laser, he can shoot a laster from his bellybutton. The move wasn't necesarrliy a bad one, but he fell short, literally. He's limited by the amount of time he can shoot continuously.
His laser dispersed and he fell to the ground allowing Ashido to run by him, he quickly got up and fired again. Crossing the line and earning '5.51 seconds' and grinning confidently with a sparkle, "If I shoot for more than a second, I get a stomach ache."
A couple students gathered could only look at him and think 'What the heck?' Lucy and Levy couldn't help but find it a bit odd that he had such an odd limitation but shrugged it off for now.
Aizawa reflected on his words, 'Looking at the upper limit of your Quirks and the room for growth in each result, it becomes clear what you can and can't do.' It was his job as an eeducator to push those limits, and help his students grow, this test was the perfect opportunity to see what they could do.
Midoriya and Bakugo went next, Midoriya had a worried look on his face, feeling a cold sweat. The machine allowed them to begin, Bakugo ran crossing his arms, "Explosive speed!" He yelled, placing his hands behind him, his blasts driving him forward, not even needing to run anymore, he soared through the air over the line making a time of '4.13 seconds'.
His Quirk, Exposion, a unique combination of the nytroglycerin in his sweat allows him to ignite explosions, paired with the boys intellect and power, it made for an extremely strong Quirk.
Midoriya on the other hand was too afraid to use his Quirk and ran without it, earning '7.02 seconds'.
'Seeing his Quirk in action again is impressive." She thought back to the exam when he took down the robots. 'The way he uses it is certainly clever.' Levy noted, with an idea sparking in her own head from watching the teen. Lucy on the other hand looked at Midoriya with confusion 'With the way he jumped at the robot, he should have cleared that way sooner… Why didn't he use his Quirk?'
Taking that as their cue Lucy and Levy stood side by side as they lined up for their turn. Everyone's eyes widened as they watched Lucy glow and receive a new outfit, even those who had seen her quirk in action were shocked that such a quirk existed.
Lucy wore something similar to a qipao, but with long wide sleeves and an obi, like those of a kimono. She had a ribbon wrapped around her waist with a bow tied neatly on her wore knee high socks and flip flops, her her tied up by two pincer type accessories. The Cancer symbol was displayed on her chest, as she flashed forward, gaining her Spirit's incredible speed.
Levy ran behind her friend, "Solid Script: Wind!" Levy called out, thrusting her hands behind her, the word 'WIND' propelled her forward, as she waved her arms, allowing her to keep up with Lucy. They both cleared the track in no time, impressing some of the students. Lucy earning a time of 3.46 seconds, and Levy clearing it with 4.27 seconds.
"Now that is a flashy Quirk!" A short boy with purple balls covering his head whistled as he eyed Lucy. Lucy resisted the urge to kick the little gremlin, as her clothes flashed once again, leaving her back in her uniform.
Bakugo couldn't help but feel irked that the blonde chick beat him, but what really caught his attention was the familiar move that the shorty did, it was sloppily attempted, but still an imitation of the move he just displayed, he narrowed his eyes at the girls, figuring he shouldn't write them off just yet.
. . .
Test 2: Grip Strength
The class was gathered in a room each grasping a hand-held device that guaged their grip strength, some students were having better look than others. Midoriya tried his best to visualize an egg in a microwave in order to control his power, gripping with all his might the device showed '56.0 kg'.
Lucy glanced at his score and raised an eyebrow, "With the strength you showed before I was expecting a higher score to be honest." Now clad in a that revealed much more of Lucy's skin than she would like around the purple boy, her strength was increased.
She wore a cow print bra and pants that covered only one of her legs, leaving her other leg exposed. She alos wore boots, gloves, and a belt with a golden buckle showing Taurus' sign. A cow bell jingled hanging on her choker, her har tied up in space buns. This Star Dress gave her immense strength, with the machine displaying a solid '450 kg'.
Levy had used her solid script to create the word 'BIND' which had forced the machine to grip a decent amount, she was more impressed by the other girl who could create things as well, with her also creating something to grip the device and receive a high score.
Midoriya sighed, as he looked at his score, "My Quirk is still somewhat new, so I have trouble controlling it." He informed the girls, his face downcast.
"Ah, so you're a late bloomer." Levy replied.
"I-I guess that's one way to put it." Midoryia blushed, "It manifested so late, that my body isn't completely durable when I use it." He said flexing his hand.
Lucy nodded remembering how he had looked before when he had used his Quirk. "That's got to be rough, not being able to use your power the way you want." She said sympathetically, "Is there any way for you to control it without hurting yourself?"
Midoriya nodded, "The advice I was given was to use a visualization technique in order to control my power. I've been picturing an egg inside a microwave." He laughed somewhat weakly, hearing it out loud sounded a bit ridiculous.
"That's an interesting image you got there." Levy laughed along with him. He nodded, "The point is that I don't want the egg to explode, I was told to lower the wattage or shorten the cook time. But even when I picture it in my head, it doesn't work the way I want it to."
The girls nodded more thoughtfully, it making more sense… somehow, "I wish I could say it wouldn't hurt to try, but given your situation, it probably might…" Lucy sweatdropped, allowing her transformation to drop.
"When I try to use my power at 100% my body can't handle it and it breaks," Midoriya informed, "It's unfortunate but I just still don't have the control I want yet." He noted his voice filled with sorrow.
"Oh, come on, I'm sure you'll be able to get it in no time." Levy said, "We'll try to help you work on it Midoriya." She tried to assure the boy, who gave the girls a grateful smile, but still sadly gazed at his score.
. . .
Test 3: Standing Long Jump
Many of the students were making a good distance, some reusing their same tricks, such as Aoyama with his navel laser, or Bakugo with his explosions, or thought of something new like Levy with her solid script 'WINGS'. Midoriya came up short once again, not utilizing his Quirk. Lucy and levy frowned slightly, trying their best to think of any way to help the poor boy…
. . .
Test 4: Repeated Side Steps
Lucy couldn't help but frown as the purple gremlin used his quirk to bounce from side to side, earning a respectable score. She shook her head in disdain, as he winked at her. Midoriya watched in horror as even this guy was doing pretty well with his Quirk.
. . .
Test 5: Ball throw
The creation girl, Momo Yaoyorozu, felt inspired, using her creation Quirk she created a mini canon, and fired the ball, earning a score of '1,232 meters'. Her Quirk, Creation, gave her the ability to create any non-living material/object from the lipids in her body.
"Ooh! That was a pretty good idea!" Levy said as she stood in the circle, "Solid Script: Catapult!" The Catapult materialized, beside her, placing the ball in the 'C' She sent the back rocketing sending it '1,108 meters' away according to the machine.
"Our Quirks our somewhat similar, it would be interesting to see how our creations would fair against each other." Yaoyorozu stated, as the catapult poofed out of existence.
Other students had to rely on pure strength, trying their best to hurl the ball as far as they could, with some having more luck than others. Lucy used her bow and arrow from her Star Dress Saggitarius form, to send the ball far from the course, getting it '956 meters' away.
Of course, no one had it easier than Uraraka, using her quirk she happily tossed the ball into the air, and the class watched as it rose, and rose, and rose, and rose, until eventually it was out of sight. Her quirk cancelled out the gravity holding the ball down completely giving her an infinite score.
"That's amazing! She got an infinite score!" The blond boy with a black streak gasped, impressed. Midoriya wanted to feel happy with everyone's success, but each student was getting one amazing score on each test, except for him.
He stood in the center of the ring and gripped the ball tightly, staring at it determined. "It doesn't look good if he continues like this." Iida divulged, catching some attention.
"Huh? Of course not. He's a Quirkless small fry you know." Bakugo sneered. Lucy, Iida and Uraraka all looked at Bakugo in confusion, they had seen Midoriya's Quirk in action, in quite an unforgettable way.
"Quirkless?! Are you not aware of what he did in the entrance exam?" Iida questioned, this time making Bakugo confused. In all the time he knew Midoriya since they were children he had never shown any signs of having a Quirk.
Midoryia steeled his resolve, winding back his arm, an energy encasing it entirely and he grunted throwing it with all of his strength. "AH!"
Aizawa's eyes flashed red, as his hair stood on end, wth Midoriya's throw making a measly 46 meters, way lower than the score he was expecting. Midoriya's blood ran cold as he looked at his hand distraught. "I was definitely trying to use it just now…"
"I erased your Quirk." Aizawa said as the bindings wrapped around him began flowing freely much like his hair. His eyes glowed red as his gaze bore into Midoriya, "That entrance exam was definitely not rational enough."
His stare hardened, "Even a kid like you was accepted."
"You erased my Quirk?" Midoriya, not understanding until finally he noticed the accessory hanging around his teacher's neck, "Those goggles… I see! You can erase other people's Quirks with your Quirk just by looking at them. The Erasure Hero: Eraser Head!"
Aizawa's quirk, Erasure, works just like the name suggests, he can erase the Quirk of those he looks at, but the effect goes away when he blinks.
"Of course!" Levy said smacking her head, remembering reading about the man, "He's an underground hero. He's not as well known due to not liking the attention from the media, he believes it get in the way of his work." She informed the group of students standing around her in a low voice.
"Guess that internet binge did you wonders, huh?" Lucy teased, causing Levy to blush and shush her.
"From what I can tell you can't control your Quirk, can you?" Aizawa surmised, "Do you intend to become incapacitated again and have someone save you?" He questioned the student.
"Th-That's not my intention-" Midoriya tried to defend himself, but the bindings wrapped around him pulling him closer and cutting him off. "Whatever your intention, I'm saying that's what those around you will be forced to do." Aizawa told him.
"In the past, there was an oppressively passionate hero who saved over a thousand people by himself and created a legend." The teacher briefed, "Even if you have the same reckless valor, you'll just be decked and turn into a useless doll after saving one person." He chastised.
"Izuku Midoriya. With your power, you can't become a hero." Midoriya's faced scrounged up in disappointment, and the students were struck silent at the teacher's seemingly harsh words, although they did hold some merit. "I've returned your Quirk. You have two turns for the ball throw."
The teacher turned away, giving Midoriya space, "Hurry up and get it over with."
The Fairy Girls couldn't help but notice how Midoriya tried to channel all of his power in his right arm, honestly it kind of struck them as odd, but reminded them of something, or rather someone…
Midoriya stood there silently debating with himself whether or not to use his power.
"If he doesn't use it he'll most likely get last place." Levy frowned.
Lucy shook her head, her pigtails bouncing, "But if he uses all of his strength he'll break his bones."
The girls looked at Midoriya more closely, "...what if he didn't use all of his power?" Levy suggested the gears in her head turning, Lucy looked at her with a quirked eyebrow, "What do you mean Levy?"
"Think about it, if Midoriya breaks his arms because he keeps trying to use his full power, then what if he just dials it back?" Levy proposed, tapping her chin. Lucy's eyes sparkled, "I see, then the force wouldn't cause his arms to be as harmed as before!"
Oblivious to their conversation, Midoriiya figured he had no choice but to use his power, 'I have to work a lot harder than other people! That's why, with all my strength… I'll do what I can right now!'
While channeling 100% of his power into the tip of his index finger, he threw the ball "Smash!" He growled as he threw the ball high into the air, surprising the students as the air around the shifted slightly from Midoriya's throw.
The ball bounced on the floor before rolling to a stop Aizawa checked the score… '705.3 meters'. Aizawa looked at the score, realizing that this kid may have more potential than he thought. "Mr. Aizawa…" Midoriya croaked, gaining his teachers attention.
Smiling through the pain, and clenching the fist with his broken finger Midoriya spoke, "I can still move!"
"Wow, he channeled all of his power into his finger in order to minimize damage." Lucy said, "That's a pretty smart idea, as long as he didn't want to be completely taken out of the battle."
Levy nodded but still believed that if he put in less power than it would be more effective in minimizing damage, but it wouldn't negate it completely… "He got over 700 meters?!" Someone shouted in shock, pulling Levy out of her thoughts.
"Finally a hero-like record!" Uraraka cheered for her new friend, excited at his high score.
"His finger's swollen!" Iida observed, "There was the entrance exam, too." He recalled Midoriya's grotesque broken figure, "He has a strange quirk…"
"It's not very stylish." Aoyama added, "Unlike yours madomoiselle!" He sparkled at Lucy.
Bakugo's mouth hung in shock and his eyes were as wide as saucers, 'Wh-what's with that power?! Everyone's Quirks manifest by the age of four. This is unthinkable! What is the meaning of this?'
The class's attention went to Bakugo when his hand discharging blasts, but before anyone could react he began to charge for Midoriya, "Hey! Tell me what's going on, Deku, you bastard!"
His assault was cut short when Aizawa's bindings stopped him, much like when he grabbed the freckled boy before. Bakugo tried to turn back as the wraps restrained him, "What the-? These clothes are… hard!"
"They're weapons for capture made of carbon fiber woven together with metal wire made of a special alloy." Aizawa explained boredly, "Jeez… Don't keep making me use my Quirk over and over." True to his word, his eyes were red and his hair had risen, "I have dry eye."
'It's such a waste, since his Quirk is so amazing!' The class thought as they watched the seen before them.
"We're wasting time. Whoever's next, get ready." Aizawa said releasing Bakugo and his Quirk, waving off the situation. Midoriya didn't allow his eyes to leave Bakugo as he slowly inched away back to the group.
Bakugo stood there, seething, he didn't like the idea that he had been lied to all these years. Midoriya didn't even bother using his Quirk in any of their previous altercations, was it because he thought he was better than him? His teeth clenched as he ran the possibilities in his head.
"Hey! What's your problem?" Lucy demanded to know from the blonde haired boy. Bakugo looked at the girl with only slight interest before his anger overtoo him once agiain, "Mind your goddamn business pigtails!"
"I want to know what gives you the right to pick on him!" Lucy was beyond frustrated with this guy's attitude already. Bakugo didn't find the conversation worth his time and stomped off without another word.
"What a jerk…" Lucy mumbled.
Levy nodded, "That was a bit of an overreaction."
"Is your finger all right?" Uraraka asked worried, not liking the looks of the throbbing appendage. "Oh, yeah." Midoriya responded, not wanting to worry her.
Lucy and Levy rejoined the group, who was still looking at Midoriya's finger. "You'll probably have to see Granny for that." Levy recommended, with a slight grimace.
"Oh, Recovery Girl's the nurse here, that's right!" Midoriya remembered, unfortunately for now he would just have to fight against the pain.
"While your there we actually wanted to talk about some ideas that might help with your quirk." Lucy winked, hoping that talking through it might allow him to lessen his injuries, because not to be rude, but it was kind of gross.
. . .
All that was really left for Tests 6, 7, and 8 were sit-ups, the seated toe-touch, and the long-distance run. Had they not had their training with Granny they probably would've had a tougher time, but the woman whipped them into shape, making it a breeze.
The girls noticed that midoriya was struggling more than he should, most likely due to the pain he felt in his finger. They felt bad that his results were suffering, but they couldn't help but feel pride on all of their high scores.
That definitely didn't mean they were happy with this kinda of exercise, their muscles were slightly strained and Lucy was totally going to reward herself with a nice bath at home later.
. . .
"Okay, I'll quickly tell you the results." Aizawa informed, "The total is simply the marks you got from each test."
He held up the device he'd been using all day to record their results, "It's a waste of time to explain verbally, so I'll show you the results all at once."
Each of the students held their breath as they waited for the results to be displayed.

Levy and Lucy gasped at having such high scores, but then again, considering the versatility of their 'Quirks' maybe they should've expected to be a bit overpowered. Lucy couldn't believe that the girl Yaoyorozu got a higher score than her, but the girl was a quick thinker and made something appropriate for each challenge. Levy got a higher score due to be less limited as the magic in the air powered her, allowing her to create much more than usual.
Lucy and Levy frowned as they saw who the last student was, they glanced at the boy who stared at his broken finger. He only had one amazing score, and the pain from his finger effected his performance in his last few tests. They couldn't help but feel a bit sad for him.
"By the way, I was lying about the expulsion." Their homeroom teacher said as he turned off the device. The class stood dumbfounded, "It was a rational deception to draw out the upper limits of your Quirks."
"WHAT?!" The class screeched, the reveal hitting Midoriya the hardest.
Yaoyorozu looked at her peers, "Of course it was a lie. It should have been obvious if you just thought it through."
'I didn't notice…' Was the general consensus of the rest of the student body.
"But there are actual records of expulsions in his class." Levy said to the creation girl, who blinked in surprise, "There are? I wasn't aware of that."
"Sometimes I do expel students when they don't hold up, unfortunately the hero business isn't for everyone." Aizawa spoke up, "While I always try to avoid it there are people who slip through the cracks." He muttered.
"With that, we're done here." Aizawa announced walking off, "There are handouts with the curriculum and such in the classroom so when you get back, look over them." Before he fully left, he stopped in front of the freckled teen.
"Midorya. Have the old lady fix you in the nurse's office." He handed the boy a slip of paper. "Tomorrow will be packed with even more rigorous tests. Prepare yourself." He warned, taking his leave.
. . .
"Aizawa, you liar!" All Might said as Aizawa walked out of eyesight, revealing he had been watching the test.
"All Might. So you were watching? Too much time on your hands?" Aizawa commented to the other man, turning away.
"It seems you were caught in your lie by young McGarden, though." All Might said, with the other man remaining silent. He did in fact expel some students before, he wasn't expecting for the young girl to know that, although he had been prepared with his answer.
"You judge those you judge to be without potential without hesitation." The larger Hero clarified, "Yet you tried to take back your words-" He pointed to Aizawa, "That must be because you also felt the potential of that kid, right?"
He was referring to Midoriya, the very boy threatened with expulsion, Aizawa took special notice to his choice of words, "Also?"
He turned with a challenging smile, "You seem to be supporting him quite a bit. Is that how a teacher should be acting?" Aizawa questioned, causing All Might to falter slightly.
"His potential was not zero." Aizawa began to walk off again, "That's all it was. I will always cut those without potential." He informed, he couldn't help but think of the two girls in his class who displayed tons of potential.
'Lucy Heartfilia and Levy McGarden, the girls with amnesia, who found their way into Recovery Girl's care after trying to pursue a villain…" He couldn't put his finger on it, but it seemed like there was more to it than just that, but for now he'll treat them as he would any other student as they seemed to not be malicious.
"There is nothing crueler than letting a dream die midway." Aizawa finished, as he left the area.
"So you're being kind in your own way, huh Aizawa." All Might concluded as he watched his colleague turn the corner. "But we don't really get along after all."
. . .
In the Nurse's Office at U.A. the girls sat idly by as Midoriya received treatment from Shuzenji. "You minimized the damage this time at least…" She commented as the boy sluggishly nodded, feeling the pain.
"Speaking of that Midoriya, we were talking about how your Quirk reminds us of someone." Lucy said from where she was sitting. Midoriya's eyes widened at the implication of his secret. Had he not hidden it well enough?
'Pleasedon'tsayAllMight.Pleasedon'tsayAllMight.Pleasedon'tsayAllMight.Pleasedon'tsayAllMight.Pleasedon'tsayAllMight.' He prayed to every entity that would listen.
"Yeah, it brought back memories of a friend of ours back home." Levy smiled brightly. Midoriya let out a sigh of relief then responded, "What do you mean by that?"
Shuzenji decided to speak up, "Well dear, these two have a form of generalized amnesia, and are getting their memories back sparingly, it seems that you reminded them of someone from back home though." She smiled, covering for the girls, Midoryia nodded in understanding, allowing the girls to continue.
"His name was Elfman, and his Quirk was called Takeover." Levy told the boy, "His siblings had the same Quirk, but he in particular would limit himself to his arm so he wouldn't lose control."
Midoriya saw where she was going with this, "And the way I channel it into my body reminded you of that." The girls nodded, "So it looks like I have the right idea so far!" he smiled, and the girls stopped nodding.
"Not exactly…" Lucy started, "The Quirk was at it's strongest when it was a full body takeover… really he was kind of limiting himself." She admitted looking back on it, "He eventually pushed past his mental blocks, and unlocked his power making him stronger."
Midoriya went silent, thinking about her words closely. Had he been limiting himself? He tried to call the power into his body as he needed it, he looked at his mangled finger. Had channeling it into a single area been more of a hindrance than a solution?
He remembered as he threw the ball he had called out a word… 'Smash…!' He closed his eyes in deeper thought, 'I'm trying to emulate All Might, by using his power the way he does, but maybe it works differently for me!' He realized with a sharp gasp.
Shuzenji's lips extended and smacked against Midoriya, with his finger being healed and his body slumping over slightly, feeling the effects of her Quirk. "Wow, suddenly I feel really tired."
"My Quirk can only stimulate the effects of healing, and healing requires stamina." The nurse said reaching for something, "If you keep getting major injuries you'll use too much stamina and you'll end up dying instead so be careful." She smiled, pulling out a Kamui Woods Pez dispenser, and giving Midoriya some candy.
"I'll end up dying instead?!" He cried in panic, to which Lucy and Levy nervously laughed. He grabbed his bag and began to leave. "Thank you all for your help today, he bowed."
"No need to thank us, we just hope our conversation can help you figure things out." Lucy waved as the boy walked out, "See you tomorrow!"
"Bye Midoriya!" Levy called, as the boy left the room.
"It was nice of you girls to give him advice, but be careful of what details you give in your life, while it's your secret and your choice who to tell, I just advise some caution." Recovery Girl said as she began filing away some papers.
"Don't worry Granny, we'll be careful." Levy promised. "It just seemed like the best way to help get him thinking, the situations probably aren't similar but the dynamic was kind of there for comparison."
"Well, in any case, it was nice of you girls to wait for me." Shuzenji said as she grabbed her bag, being finished for today and ready to take the girls home.
Lucy happily smiled and grabbed Shuzenji's bag to hold for her, "Of course Granny, it was the least we could do."
Shuzenji returned the smile as the walked the halls of the U.A., "You girls can tell me all about your day over dinner, but for now let's talk about how you're adjusting…"
